Overview

From the creators of GOSSIP GIRL comes a fresh, edgy take on teenage romance. Three interconnected stories explore the different stages of love over the course of one summer on the seashore.

It's summer. It's hot. And it's time to hook up.

Cousins Ella, Beth, and Jamie are at their family's beach house, and they're gearing up for the wildest time of their lives. Sassy Ella is majorly crushing on a cute older boy -- who just happens to be her sister's new boyfriend. Meanwhile, practical Beth is surprised when she finds herself falling for her best friend George. And shy, creative Jamie gets her heart broken when her summer love abandons her.

Three girls, too many boys, and some seriously stormy romances...it all adds up to one unforgettable summer.

Ella, Beth, and Jamie are all expecting to fall in love this summer. Jamie will see her boyfriend Ethan from last summer, Beth will get to hang out with her best friend George, and Ella hopes to find her own "summer boy". Jamie tries to spend as much time with Ethan as she can until she realizes they aren't at the same stage of their relationship. Beth begins having strange feelings for her best friend when she finds him flirting with a girl he meets on the beach. Ella falls in love with her sister's boyfriend and realizes she'll do anything for them to break up. This book is great for high school students who enjoy reading romance novels. It is also good for students who like reading about kids their age. This book hooks you from the beginning and you won't want to put it down. After reading this book, you'll want to check out the sequel: Summer Boys 2: Next Summer.

Hi, im 14 I love going to the book store and looking for books and had looked at this series before but just passed over it. I saw my friend reading the third book in series (After Summer) and thought i'd give it a try. I read the excerpt and thought I could be interesting. My mom got it for me and I started reading it. I turned out that I could NOT put it down I read the whole book in a matter of hours. I absolutely LOVED it. I loved how I could connect the characters to real ppl in my life (esp. Ella there are lots of her around). I can't wait to read the rest of the books in the series. :) I also like how she wrote the book. It is perfectly detailed. You can picture the exact scene in your mind. (esp. when ella and peter are on the beach together) Thanks Hailey for this book :)

This book is written on a fourth grade level with some very adult situations. Some characters explicitly descibe sexual techniques and feelings. Just reading the jacket gives you a good clue. It is all about kids having or fantasizng about sex. I feel it is inappropriate for any child. What is this author thinking about? Obviously, money- and not the hearts and minds of young children. There is no redeming value of this book. I recommend that if you are a parent you read this book first or at least skim through it. It is basically a trashy novel that is targeting young girls.

This book was great. I loved it and the rest of the novels in the series are really interesting as well. The continuation of this series is good too. These novels incorporate everything readers want: romance, drama, and the infinite possibilities of summer. Personally, if its a novel about summer, boys, and any form of water, I'm hooked. All in all, this book and all that follow in it's wake are fabulous. Hats off to the author.
