This was my first nook book purchase and the first book I have read in a long time. It kept my attention and I read it in two days. I was looking for some light summer reading and this book was great for that. The ending was abrupt and fell short of my expectations. I would have liked to see the characters developed a bit more, but overall really enjoyed it and plan to read more Nancy Thayer books this summer.

A nice, easy going read. Not very exciting or thrilling, if you like those sorts of books. Very predictable but so are some good movies. Definately a chick flick (lol).

As I have read most of Thayers books, and loved them, I could not wait till this one came out. I was very disappointed, as it did not begin to live up to those books that came before. I considered not finishing it, but hoped for a redeeming ending. It didnt happen. Not up to Nancy Thayers standards at all, I found it very boring.

Three women, three reasons, one lake. The three women all arrive at Dragonfly lake for different reasons: house sitting, helping mom out with her store and a new mother searching for a future. Nancy Thayer has a way of evolving them all separate and then together. I love all of her books though they end too quickly......

Welcome to Summer at Dragonfly Lake. Bella Barnaby has come home to help her mom out. She has broken her leg and needs Bella's help to run her little store Barnaby's Barn. While there she starts to imagine a different course for both the store and her life. Natalie Reynolds has dreams of becoming a successful artist but can't succeed in New York working as a waitress and taking classes only when she has the money. She decides to take her aunt up on her offer to house sit at her lakeside home. More than her creative dreams start to come true at the lake. Morgan O’Keefe sets her career aside to follow her husband as he takes a very high powered job. She thinks being a stay at home mom for her son will make will occupy all her time but she soon is missing her job and thrill her work brought to her life. She really needs a change. These women quickly become friends and life on Dragonfly Lakes fills with love, temptation, discovery and change. As friends they are there for each other as they see all their lives turn to take very different paths. The setting for this book sounds absolutely gorgeous. The characters are good and developed. The plot was the real problem for me. The friendships were strong but everything just happened so fast. In the course of just one summer everyone in the book made life changing decisions and in the end everything was tied up with a nice big bow. I don't want to give too much away and spoil the story but it was all too unbelievable. This is the first book by this author that really fell flat for me. It just didn't have that thing that her other books have that grab you and make you interested in the characters. Maybe my expectations for her work are just too high. It is well written but just doesn't have that "pop" that is should have. A light summer beach read but very predictable. Definitely not one of Nancy Thayer's best efforts.

Good Summer Read This is an easy, fast, good beach read with great character development but somewhat of a predictable ending.

2.5 Stars I was so looking forward to this book. Then I started reading and found out this book's a mess. It jumped all over the place. Scenes had no depth to them just skimming the top. So it left the characters plain and bland with no feelings. I came away with shaking my head of why I read this book.

Good book; interesting characters, good storyline, nice scenery. First book I've read of this author and am on the search for more. Nice relaxing read.

Loved "The Guest Cottage" and "Between Husbands & Friends". This story was more "romance novel" than I was looking for. The characters were a bit too "stock" and the plot too contrived for me. Passed the time, but there are better. Will keep reading Nancy Thayer.

I have read Nancy Thayer in the past.  This book fell short.  I found it to be droning and smarmy.

Between the plot spoilers and the children playing kittykat games here its hard to get a true review. Kids, go elsewhere to play your games. Im sure there are web sites or kitty litter boxes for that.
