One summer is all they have ...

Lance is a notorious player on and off the football field who never sees a girl more than twice.  But with graduation now behind him, his days of carefree flirting are numbered.  As soon as his summer internship is over, his parents expect him to return to Texas to take his place in the family business.  He's done everything he can to delay the inevitable, and he's determined to live it up his last summer as his own man.

Abby comes from a world where men don't stick around.  Lance's interest does nothing but put her on guard, especially when she finds out he'll be leaving in less than two months.  With two years left of college and a mom who relies on her for everything, Abby doesn't have the patience for relationships that are doomed from the start.  But Lance's persistence wears down her defenses.  Abby convinces herself they'll just have a summer fling, and she'll be able to come through unscathed.

Will Abby be able to maintain her distance?  Or will they both be heartbroken when the summer ends?

If you love steamy college romance featuring hot athletes and sassy heroines, check out this first installment in the hot new series everyone is raving about!

What a fantastic story, Summer Fling is the first in the series Players of Marycliff University. Jerica MacMillian has a way of drawing her reader into a great story where opposites attract and fall in love. Summer Fling was meant to be just that for characters, Lance and Abby who couldn’t be more different, and yet once they had a taste of each other they couldn’t stay away. The way MacMillian builds her characters makes them believable and just like someone you would want to know in real life. The touches of dominance that MacMillian shows in Lance makes him that much hotter, to both the reader and to Abby. Jerica MacMillian is a new to me author, and after I got half way through this book I had to buy all of the other books in this series just to see how all of the characters turned out. Any books that she writes in the future will be automatic buys for me. This series is a definite not to be missed.

This was a great book and an enjoyable read. Good story line, with relatable characters. However, there are a couple things that I think could be changed/addressed. The change from Abby and Lance not really being a thing to being a full-on couple was too fast. It was one chapter ended with Abby agreeing to go out with him more than twice and then the next chapter started off a month later with them being a full-on couple. I believe that this story could have better if you showed us the time between those two points. Explained how their relationship blossomed and became. Another suggestion I have would be to dive a little more into the background of Abby’s mom and Lances parents. Why is Lance’s so set on his future? Why did they make that agreement when they know that isn’t what he wants? With Abby, I would like to see how it affected her more than just that one encounter. See what her day to day with her mom was like. I know that there is a squeal later in the series that might go into more, but while reading this book I didn’t know that. So, I felt a little like both story lines were unfinished. I did like it and it was over all a good book.

Summer Fling (Players of Marycliff University Book 1) by Jerica MacMillan is a hot, sexy college sports romance story. This story will show you what happens when two people opposite of each other can be attracted to each other. This story is fun, hot, sexy and has lots of romance that will leave you wanting for more. This is my first story by this author and I enjoyed her writing style and her ability to just plain make the story fun to read. The characters are hot and steamy. They will take you on a roller coaster ride of various emotions. It was great to see how these characters were able to grow through out this story, it makes them more enjoyable. They will pull you into their world and make you feel like you are right there with them. I highly recommend you read this story as you won't want to miss this opposites attract story! This is the story of Abby and Lance. They grew up complete opposites, on different sides of the tracks you might say. Lance is in line to work for his family business after summer. Abby is about to start her junior year but her struggles with her family leaves her unsure what do after she graduates. When one night changes everything for Abby, what will she do? She doesn't trust men as they just come and go without heart. Lance has been known to be just that kind of guy. Will she ever learn to trust him? Will he give up his ways for her? Abby is strong but yet she is broken from previous relationships if you can call them that. She seems to be a little confused on why Lance wants to be with someone like her. In the beginning she has low self esteem but it is great to see her character grow into what she was at the end. Lance has a determination and it was great seeing a different side then just the jock side of him. He seemed to be different with her. I think they had great chemistry together and they kept me hoping they get their HEA. What will happen when summer is over? Was it just a summer fling? You will have to read to find out!

Reviewed by Arya Fomonyuy for Readers' Favorite Summer Fling by Jerica MacMillan is a powerful opening to the Players of Marycliff University series, a powerful contemporary romance with multiple plot elements that will positively surprise readers. Abby isn’t an outgoing kind of girl and she uses her brains more than her heart when it comes to love and relationships. Her life is lived between her home town and school, and her upbringing has programmed her for anything but casual sex. Lance has an irresistible charm, looks that can kill, and he is the sportsman that attracts women easily, but he has a reputation: he never sees the same woman twice. When Lance and Abby bump into each other in an unusual way during a party, they find themselves falling for each other. For Abby, it would be just one summer adventure, so it won’t hurt. For Lance, Abby is just another one of his conquests. But what seems to be a fling soon develops into a love that carries them beyond themselves. Will they be able to set the limits? It’s for the reader to find out. Summer Fling is one of those stories to be read and re-read for its sheer beauty. Jerica MacMillan develops characters that are powerful and a setting that is so real most readers will feel like they are part of its décor. The conflict is well developed and it helps to move the story even faster. Lance is fast falling in love with a girl he has to leave behind in a couple of weeks to manage his father’s workshop, and Abby is desperately longing for a man who is leaving soon and she knows her family situation won’t allow her to travel anywhere with him. How will they handle this? Readers will be hooked from the very beginning of this page-turning story and surprises will only keep on coming until the satisfactory denouement. MacMillan has strong storytelling skills and her writing is heartwarming and flows naturally; her voice is clear and many readers will most likely identify with it. This one is highly entertaining and engaging.
