"Summer in the City of Sails" is a very hot read by Shelley Munro. It includes Munro's sharp humor and deft hand with sex scenes. But this one also includes a heroine who just grated on my nerves...thus the lower rating.Summer is twenty-two and excited to be spending the next six months in the big city and away from her overprotective family; especially her special forces Aussy-style brothers. She has big plans: new style of dress, dating, sex, sex, and more sex. Then she overhears her uncle asking his friend to 'babysit' her! She's incensed and ready to barge in there and let both of them 'have it'. Until she barges in and catches sight of her 'babysitter'. Oh, baby...he's a bit older, but smoking hot; and Summer has plenty of suggestions on just how he can 'take care' of her.I would have enjoyed this story so much more if Summer had been a bit older and less...well, young! She had several TSTL (too stupid to live) moments, spent what seemed like too much time whining, and just acted like a teenager!! At times it felt kind of icky with the older dude and the barely-legal chick! Then there was an awful lot of Australian slang. I didn't have too much of a problem with it, but I've also spent enough time with Aussies to have a leg up...so to speak.Anyway, I usually enjoy Shelley Munro's stories quite a bit. I guess that's why "Summer in the City of Sails" felt kind of like a letdown for me.
