Overview

A final battle for the survival of Earth is coming.

Between the alien Others and the destruction of humanity stand four Dissidents.

When the Prime Other banishes them to the Harvest Site to live the remainder of their time on earth as slaves, the Dissidents use the opportunity to learn more about the substance that keeps the Others alive...and how they might use it to their advantage. But the Others guard their secrets well, and the Prime Other has proven his willingness to do whatever's necessary to secure a future for his race, no matter what or who is destroyed in the process.

When Althea and the boys realize their lives could be the key to allowing another planet to suffer the same fate as earth, they promise they'll die before they let that happen. If they can't figure out how to turn the tables in their favor before the Summer Celebration, they might have to do just that.

The end draws near, and there's only one question left--are the Dissidents going to save their chosen people or perish alongside them?

Meet the Author

Trisha Leigh is a product of the Midwest, which means it's pop, not soda, garage sales, not tag sales, and you guys as opposed to y'all. Most of the time. She's been writing seriously for five years now, and has published 4 young adult novels and 4 new adult novels (under her pen name Lyla Payne). Her favorite things, in no particular order, include: reading, Game of Thrones, Hershey's kisses, reading, her dogs (Yoda and Jilly), summer, movies, reading, Jude Law, coffee, and rewatching WB series from the 90's-00's.

Her family is made up of farmers and/or almost rock stars from Iowa, people who are numerous, loud, full of love--the kind of people that make the world a better place. Trisha tries her best to honor them, and the lessons they've taught, through characters and stories--made up, of course, but true enough in their way.

Trisha is the author of THE LAST YEAR and CAVY FILES series and the WHITMAN UNIVERSITY and LOWCOUNTRY MYSTERY books. She's represented by Kathleen Rushall at Marsal Lyon Literary Agency.

This is one of those series you can't put down! It has the perfect balance of romance, despair, heartbreak, hope, battle, and survival. It's written from a female heroine role, but includes plenty of male bravado. Earth's struggle for survival makes it a book everyone can internalize and relate too. Loved it, and had to buy all 4 in the series ASAP! I highly recommend it! Have fun reading!

The final battle ensues but not without great loss. I was anxious to read this last installment because I was dreading the fate that seemed to loom for our beloved Dissidents. So many emotions bonded this group of kids together. I think readers forget that part. That this was just a bunch of young adults trying to figure out how to save humanity let alone being thrown into a full on war. That to me speaks volumes of Leigh's ability to draw the reader in. I loved this series and the relationship between the characters. I'm still thinking about them hoping that Althea and Lucas find their forever, that Pax and Greer heal and find love again, that Deshi finds his place, even what became of DAX. Trisha Leigh did not disappoint!
