Sophie is falling apart. The most evil being she has ever encountered is still hunting her down to end her life. The one person she thought she could trust has been lying to her about everything, and she doesn't even know how she is going to make it through tomorrow no less eternity. From sad and hopeless to heartbreakingly beautiful this book ran a full gauntlet of emotions that held my attention until the end. The main character Sophie is not perfect by any means and at times was so ridiculously stubborn (often to her own detriment) that I wanted to smack some sense into her. But it was because of that intense determination she was able to do what she did and I have to love her for it. She certainly surprised me towards the end. For me this was a great close to the series and in my opinion Sun Damage is definitely recommended.

I loved the first two books in this vampire series, and I could not wait to sink my teeth (har har) into the third installment! This book brings us to Sophie’s transition to a vampire…and it’s not going so well. She’s had a hard life, and it seems her status as the undead won’t be any easier. Sophie is having a hard time doing the one thing a vampire should do, drink blood. Her body seems to reject it. She is slowly starving, and must also come to terms with her love (and now maker) Myles having kept things from her that will now be revealed. Can she trust him? Can she still pursue what makes her happy with her band and her brother? This was an emotionally intense book. Poor Sophie had already been through so much, I really wanted it to be a bit of an easier road for her. Alas, it doesn’t seem it was meant to be. And while I understand her frustration and distrust of Myles, I can’t help but love him a little. He really tries the best that he can to make up for the things he’s done, and to help Sophie’s transition be a little easier. I don’t want to ruin any surprises, but I will say that this installment was a real page-turner for me. I actually tossed and turned a bit in bed after I finished thinking about the epilogue. It was an exciting and emotional read that did not disappoint, and a brave conclusion for a series that I will personally consider to be among one of my favorites. 5 stars. Sophie's Life was hard, but her death is about to make it a LOT worse. Infected with Michael's blood, her only option is to turn,. With much persuasion from her brother, she finally agree's, hoping her suffering will finally end. Little does she know that its about to get a lot more complicated.  Finally a vampire, Sophie is pleased to discover that her appetite for food is intact...and her disgust of blood remains, but slowly she discovers that her only way of survival is to give in to the thing she hates.  Finally giving in to Myles' plea's she tries blood, only to discover that she can't keep it down. This book shows her slowly adapting to her new life, while trying to find a way to keep it. However, with the discovery that the only person she loves has been lying to her constantly, her struggle gets worse as she tries to go at it alone. With everything crashing down around her, Sophie's story was gripping and complicated, and i loved every second of it! While her struggle was heartbreaking, the author made it easy for me to keep reading and i couldn't wait to see the outcome. A very thoughtful and interesting story line made a great last book in this series, and i can't wait to read some more of her work!

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ¿¿¿¿ Sophie has finally reached the place where she cannot trust Myles!  He has not been honest with her and told her everything about Michael.  Myles really loves Sophie and wants to keep her safe and not worried about the dangers around them, to Sophie this is a betrayal! Michael is not going to ever leave Sophie alone!  When he traps her and once again tries to kill her only Myles can save Sophie.  But Myles has lied to her and even though there is no choice but to accept conversion from human to vampire Sophie fights the inevitable. Will Myles continue to keep things from her?  She needs the truth from him! Myles has always looked out for Sophie.  Even as a young child he had watched over her and her family for the father that she never knew.  Sophie’s father had left his family to protect them from Michael and had made Myles promise to protect them in his place.  When Sophie finds out the last of Myles secrets it is more than she can cope with and separates from him as much as possible.  But a new vampire needs her Maker and Sophie needs Myles to help her navigate the new world she is in.  Myles does not leave her alone but watches over her following her from a distance to make sure she is safe. After everything they have been through together the hardest part is just starting.  Sophie must feed and she can’t!  Will Myles finally be able to keep Michael away from Sophie?  Can they find a way to heal the past and have future together?  Hero – Myles: 4 stars Heroine –Sophie: 4 stars Steam: 4 stars  Plot: 4 stars  Cliffhanger: No Would I recommend this book: Yes! This is the third book in the Sunshine Series by Nikki Rae.  It explains all the questions that have been raised in the previous books about Sophie and Myles.  Must read to find out how it ends. Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I will be interested in seeing where Ms. Rae’s imagination takes me the reader in her next books. ***Received an ARC of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review***

This series has been an emotional roller coaster, that's for sure. There is so much that went in to Sophie as a character. She's not perfect. She's had a rough life. She has problems. All these things make her easy to relate to. To me, this book is about trust. Who can Sophie trust? But of course it's not just that, there is also someone trying to kill her still. I was sad to see this series end, but all loose ends are tied up nicely. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about the ending as a whole. It wasn't what I expected, which I was glad for, but I'm still not sure how I feel about it. The Sunshine Series offers something different to the paranormal romance genre. These aren't your usual vampires, this isn't your usual romance, and the characters aren't dealing with the usual issues. These books will definitely keep you guessing. Sun Damage by Nikki Rae was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Ahhh... sigh... another Sophie & Myles epic story. Love, love, love these characters & this story. We were left with a huge cliffhanger at the end of the last novel so I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! Loved it. Sophie's life definitely took an even more difficult path... I can hear you saying now, "Wait? How is that possible? Girl couldn't even go in the sun before? How can it get much worse?" Ha. Well, yea. I thought that too. But this story's ending definitely wasn't a cake walk. She ended up having to deal with an even great issue at hand, life changing and all, plus she had to try to find a way to calm her inner battles when it came to Myles. Decisions, decision. This story, more so than the others, definitely has a more.... half glass empty... type feel too it. Everything just seems so dreary for the longest time because Sophie is constantly raging an inner battle about her life. Plus, she's disconnected from her bandmates/friends. And she's definitely disconnected with Myles. When things begin to finally reconcile, the book took on a much more lighter tone and was soooooo easy to read. I kept flipping pages and eating up the words. The plot has several different climaxes, one in particular where they were trying to get away from a certain someone...and a certain someone surprised us all and helped by... Well, crap. No spoilers! :) I was definitely surprised by a few character revelations! Completely changed the way I looked at a certain someone. Overall, I loved this finale for the Sunshine Series. I have to admit, I'm a little on the fence about the epilogue because I'm just not quite sure how I feel about it. I didn't NOT like it. I just simply said, "Hm. Alright. Well, that's that then." So, great ending to a trilogy & I'll truly miss reading about these characters! I'm sad to see it end but happy that I was able to take the journey with Sophie!! Definitely recommend this series to anyone looking for a vampire novel that's definitely different than the average vamp tale. Overall Rating: 4 Stars

Rae has a way with words that invites you in and wraps you up in the world she has created.  This is an enticing, fast paced read and it was easy to get lost in the pages of this wonderful story.   I couldn’t put it down for a second.  Rae presents her wildly imaginative story in a realistic light, allowing you to fully understand the possibilities behind the story.  She also engages you emotionally, creating a web to catch you in.  This novel definitely left me in tears at the end.  The vivid descriptions in this novel make it so that you feel like you’re watching a movie rather than reading a novel.  Each and every aspect pops right into your mind.  The descriptions are a poetic interpretation of reality that are impossible to ignore. We’ve come to know and love the characters in this series in the previous 2 instalments, but readers get to know them even better in this one.  Their personalities really shine through, especially in the 2 main characters.  The realism infused into these characters, be they human or immortal, really helps to shape the novel as a whole. My overall thoughts?  I devoured this book!  It was fantastic.  Rae’s personable writing draws you in from the get-go and holds on throughout.  I’m sad to see this trilogy end, but oh what an ending.  This is a novel (and series) everyone who enjoys the supernatural should read.   Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
