Lieutenant Marnush partially opened the side door and fired her weapon. Her shot were ineffective against the Horrex armor like scales. The Horrex made a lunge at the Lieutenant, just missing her as she stepped aside the open door.
The Manators fired their rag-tag weapons, and one managed to clamber on to the moving truck. It made its way to the gunner operating the turret. The soldier turned around and was face to face with the alien. The Manators flared its frill doubling its face size with mouth agape. The gunner surprised by the beast's sudden facial change, arched back while the Manator simultaneously stood over the soldier. In one swift concise move, the alien pulled out his wooden maquahuitl like war club, and swung it across the soldier's headgear. The soldier collapsed on his side. A second downward swing from the club cracked the man's head, spilling grey matter, decorated with skull hair fragments.
