Sporty and her best friend, Harley, are two young horses who play basketball for Horsecitty's professional team called the Shorthorns. They're also superheroes.
Still reeling from their last adventure, Sporty and Harley are back home with their families for Christmas. Everything is back to normal but it doesn't stay that way for long. A local horse is caught robbing the Horsecitty bank ... but swears that he didn't do it. Another horse is caught shoplifting ... but she denies all knowledge of it. Sporty suspects that mind control is the real culprit, but she's going to have trouble proving it with no evidence and no clues. And time is running out....
If you like horses, if you like superheroes, if you like adventure and aliens, then you'll love Super Sporty and the rest of the Horsecitty gang.

Readers will have a chance to learn more about Sporty's family in this delightful book that will leave readers wondering if her abilities run in the family! I received a free e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I have noticed that with each book, the evil villains' plots are becoming more complex and dastardly; the last time it was kidnapping via an interdimensional portal, and this time it is mind control. Firestone has been progressively adding more dimension to the superheroes, their dialogue has matured a bit and we see a bit more of who they really are beyond their superhero personas. The plot in this story is more complex; it is still linear, but there are more tangents that lead back to the overarching story. We also get to meet other horses outside of the superheroes' social circle. I enjoyed this and I think it is brilliant that she has progressively increased the complexity of her plots as it takes into account that her readers' comprehension and reading skills are improving. While the overall moral of the story focuses on teamwork, there are some other lessons as well: helping those in need, respect, generosity, and looking at the context of a situation before judging a person's actions. These are important life lessons and Firestone does a fantastic job of conveying them without being preachy. Super Sporty 7: The Fight Before Christmas is an enjoyable and enlightening addition to a fantastic series that is sure to please kids!
