Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb by MJ Ware

When life gives you lemons, kill zombies -- turns out lemon juice neutralizes the undead.
After a failed attempt at running away, best friends Nathan and Misty return home expecting to face angry parents. Instead, they discover the military has destroyed the bridges out of their rural town and everyone's fled--except a small horde of the living dead. The stress of flesh-eating zombies may be more than their already strained relationship can handle.

Even with the help of the town geek and lemonade-powered Super-Soakers, there's not enough time to squeeze their way out of this sticky mess. Unless the trio eradicates the zombie infestation, while avoiding the deadly zombie snot, the military will blow the town, and them, to pulp.

Their only shot is something with a lot more punch. Something like the Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb. But even if their friendship survives, there's another problem: Someone has to lure the undead into the trap.

Want to save the world? Want to eradicate the living dead? There is a way to do it if you just have the tools, or in this case ingredients. head on over to your closest grocer and pick up everything you need to survive the zombie apocalypse. Lemons. Yes. You read that right. Lemons. You know how the old saying goes, when life hands you lemons, you squirt them at zombies. Wait, no, well, it was something like that. Misty and Nate run away for a camping trip after being told they can no longer hang out with each other. On their return, their small town is a ghost town. There was no one to be found anywhere, oh - if only it could have stayed a ghost town, that may have been easier to deal with. Misty and Nate are faced with an adventure that no kid should have to go through alone. A fight for their lives ensues and what happens to them will really surprise you. Finally a zombie book for the YA audience that has the perfect balance of creepy but not too much for the younger reader. It has great horror elements in the plot and loads of zombie action. This book is a great way to let your budding horror fan indulge while knowing the content will not be too "adult". This book will catch your attention from the beginning and make you want to keep reading until the very end. Adults and YA audiences alike will have something they can enjoy with this book. The cover is amazing, the characters are vividly depicted, the heroism in the book is admirable, and the zombies are scary. This is coming out perfectly timed for the Halloween season, and I will be passing this onto my two daughters for their Halloween reading.

Book Title: "Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb” Author: M.J.A. Ware Published By: CG Press, LTD Age Recommended: 10+ Reviewed By: Kitty Bullard Raven Rating: 5 Review: I absolutely, 100%, loved this book! I am the type of person that reads a book cover to cover, I mean credits, disclaimers, excerpts from previous or novels yet to come, even the bar codes. There is a point to the previous ramble which I am about to make, that point is… you get an immediate sense of the authors fun-loving comedic side as soon as you see this phrase below the publishing acknowledgements, “If you purchased this book without a cover, you should be aware that you probably paid too much.” Mr. Ware, I have to disagree with you. No matter how cute and funny that was, this book is well worth any amount paid for it, for several reasons. First and foremost it is awesome zombie loving fun! Next it is geared toward kids and finally it is an extremely funny read due to the fact that lemon juice could have the power to deliver zombies into the hands of true death. I found this a wonderful new take on ways to neutralize the undead nuisances and had a wonderful time reading and visualizing Misty, Nathan, and Kali’s adventure. Do they make it out alive? Well you, dear reader, will just have to read this adorable, little gem of a book yourself and find out. As for you Mr. Ware, I do hope you intend to write more and I have every intention of reading the graphic novel version! 5 Ravens flying high!

Reviewed by Brenda C. for Readers Favorite What happens when your town is over run by zombies? Well you barricade yourself in the WalMart and come up with a plan to get rid of the flesh eating monsters of course! Misty and Nathan have been friends forever, so when they both get grounded and their parents cancel their annual camping trip the duo decides to run away and go camping themselves. They only last one night before deciding to return home to face the music with their parents, but when they get back to their tiny hometown of Indian Springs they quickly realize the town is abandoned except for the Zombies running around. Soon they find themselves rescuing Kali, a super smart kid who fills them in on the fact that the military is planning on blowing up the town to get rid of the zombies. It becomes a race against time as the trio hatches a plan to get rid of the zombies and save the town. The descriptions the author used easily had me envisioning not only the action but the smells that the characters described! I really found myself laughing out loud on several occasions, Nathan was often quite funny whether he was trying to be or not! I loved the bantering that went on between Nate and Misty and even though they figured out what would kill the zombies they didn't formulate a real plan until they hooked up with Kali the town nerd, who actually turned out to be quite heroic! Because parts of the book took place in WalMart I doubt that I will ever walk through WalMart again without thinking about this story! The icing on the cake was finding out the author includes two short stories at the end of the book! A real page turner filled with zombie killing action and laugh out loud humor that kept me wondering what might happen next! I would easily say this book would be appropriate for anyone from ten to one hundred!

Mother-Daughter-Daughter Review My Review: I decided this would be a good Mother-Daughter-Daughter book to review because we all like zombie stories in our family. The book is closer to a teen read than adult, but I still enjoyed the story. I think this would make a good choice for a budding teenaged horror fan. Not too graphic, not too gory, and not too many details bogging down the story. I just love the title and cover, that in itself would have younger teens picking up this one! Jasmin¿s Review Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb (gotta give it points for its insanely cool title) was a book about a young boy, and a young girl who after going out on a trip into the forest for camping late one night, return to the town only to find it infested with zombies. It was an okay book, I say okay because if I were a little bit of a younger teen and not so used to regular zombies with their gore and such I would have enjoyed it a little more. Definitely a younger teen book. I also found the twist about lemons very interesting, a new look on the zombie mythos! Awesome! After about halfway into the book it became much more interesting, though the ending made me very sad. 3/5 stars. Lily¿s Review Overall, I somewhat liked this book. I think this book would be great for younger teens. If you knew me though you would know my favorite movie is Dawn of the Dead and my favorite TV show is The Walking Dead, they are both about zombies. This being said, it was a little hard for me to comprehend the fact that zombies die of lemon juice and not a bullet in the head. I just couldn¿t rap my head around that fact, which made this book a little hard for me to read. But this book would be good for younger teens that don¿t like gory zombies, or anything gory. I would personally give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Nathan's growing up, but best friend Misty's growing faster, their relationship just starting to struggle with the strain. Parents struggle too, alternately planning vacations together and refusing to let the children see each other. But running away from home turns out to be a bad idea since the two kids return to a town emptied of the living and filled with the living dead. Soon they're raiding Wal-Mart, trying to recreate zombie survivals of movie fame, and slowly realizing most of the people in zombie movies don't survive. Luckily even zombies have an Achilles' heel; in this case it's lemonade, though Wal-Mart's shelves might be hard-pressed squeezing out enough citrus to save these kids. Of course, life has given them more than just lemons; free reign of their parents' houses, cars, the toy aisle. There's always the question of why the bridges out of town have been blown up of course, and when super-geek Kali joins the squad the zombie-fight becomes a race against time. Nathan's voice is so convincing I still hear him in my head as I remember his tale. His concerns are down-to-earth and filled with youthful everyday humor, though these particular days also reveal a reluctant hero behind the facade. Ah, Misty, will you fall for him? Me, I've fallen for each of the characters, each brave in their own way, each pleasingly real and fun-even Kali, who talks like a Wikipedia article and works out entirely too much about the enemy. There are gentle hints of coming of age and mild environmental warnings behind the zombie action. Youthful ingenuity, noisy bravery, and the gift of friendship prevail. And there's all the hilarity you'd expect from a title like Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb. Think Sean of the Dead for kids, or R.L. Stein with just the right amount of humor and heart. When you're finished, go visit the author's webpage and demand a sequel. Disclosure: I was given a free ecopy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I got this book for my twelve-year-old son and for myself. I don't usually read zombie stories, but I like to know what my son is reading. It falls somewhere between YA and MG. Perfect for the tween who wants a bit of horror and groos-out factor, but the author keeps it very appropriate for the age group. The banter between main characters, Nate and Misty makes me believe the author must now teeneagers very well. Lines like, "I wouldn't be caught dead in anything from Walmart!" had me laughing out loud and wondering if MJA Ware has met my daughter! Full of action coupled with humor, it was easy to keep turning the pages and my son and I both read the bpook very quickly. It was a great deal of fun and I would highly reccomend it to any zombie-loving middle-grader!
