A friend recommended this book to me. I rarely read books about which foods to eat, because I thought that by now I knew what there was to know about how to eat the right foods for good health. But since my friend had raved about the book and had immediately begun to add superfruits to her diet, telling me how easy it was to do, I bought a copy out of curiosity--and also because I really like fruits and wanted to find out if there was way to enjoy them in combinations that might be better for me than what I was already eating. The writing style of Dr. Gross is witty, clever and fun to read. He immediately pulls in the reader and keeps the material interesting and entertaining at the same time he is explaining something. He has a great depth of scientific knowledge, but he always keeps things moving along and never gets too pedantic or heavy-handed. No lectures! His enthusiasm for the health benefits of fruits and berries is contagious and compels the reader to want to keep reading to learn more. I doubt anyone would ever go to the grocery store--or farmers' market or local produce stand--and look at fruits and berries the same way again after reading this book. I found "Superfruits" to be extremely informative and helpful in educating me about the use of these fruits, their benefits and how small but simple changes in my daily diet can make a big difference in overall health. I actually did learn many things about good nutrition and better health through eating the right superfruits! I was quite surprised and relieved to learn that these fruits are easy to find in any grocery store, and most of us have been eating most of these fruits all along, at least occasionally, but once we are aware of which ones they are, we can include them in our diet on a daily basis with a very small effort, which will pay off with big health benefits. The book is unusually well-organized, logical, clearly written, easy to understand, and entertaining, while being educational. I plan to have fun trying all the recipes, which are generously shared toward the end of the book. I feel healthier just reading them! The smoothies look awesome! I would recommend this book to anyone. Go get a copy, have fun reading and start eating better and enjoying better health!
