Supervolcano: Things Fall Apart by Harry Turtledove

New York Times bestselling author Harry Turtledove brings his post-apocalyptic disaster trilogy to a startling conclusion...

An explosion of incalculable magnitude in Yellowstone Park propelled lava and ash across the landscape and into the atmosphere, forever altering the climate of the entire continent. Nothing grows from the tainted soil. Stalled and stilled machines function only as statuary.

People have been scraping by on the excess food and goods produced before the eruption. But supplies are running low. Natural resources are dwindling. And former police officer Colin Ferguson knows that time is running out for his family—and for humanity…

Memorable characters, great storyline, well written. Follow the lives of the extended Ferguson family as they survive and even thrive after the Yellowstone Super Volcano explodes. Thoroughly enjoyed the series, looking forward to reading more by the same author.

Well, I went trough the first two books expecting the action to pick up. It didn't carachter development is essential, however, it need not go on to such an extent with those we already know. Plot development would have been a much better idea. Evidently not a heck of a lot has happened as the babies are starting to talk and the eruption given in terms of years ago. It looks like the collapse of life as we know it is glacally slow. What about the effect of hunderds of thousands freezing to death? Why is he bothering to write a novel? In fact, why are the magazines even being published? Somethings aren't making much sense. Harry what is going on? Where is the author that wrote "Across the Wine Dark Sea""The Guns of the South" and "In the Presence of My Enemies"? I thought you might go somewhere with a Serbian and his PTSD and sociopathy. It just pooped out. I suppose in the next book he'll reappear and the boderline personnalitied female will some hoq manipulate her vengance. Things in Mainebsewm to have settled down. I haven't even seen the usefulness of the Bryce storyline yet. I'll give it another chance, but I'm glad I bought it on my Nook istead of getting the bound one.

Over a year and no 4th book. Not even listed for pre-order? REALLY doesn't make sense for this to be the last in the series.
