Rich Sherman’s strong management background enables him to articulate why supply chain people need to take their executives in to full confidence to accomplish their goals. He has also neatly laid out how and why silos within organizations can work together without losing their identities. Anyone interested in starting a supply chain project with in their organization should read this book.

Richard Sherman has done an outstanding job using his expertise in supply chain management to offer supply chain management professionals a blueprint in developing a successful supply chain strategy for organizations. Supply Chain Transformation can be useful for students and professionals to understand supply chain concepts. I strongly recommend this book to anyone interested in understanding successful business strategy. Richard Sherman is a practitioner who understands the pulse of supply chain management. He's provided supply chain expertise to multiple firms and to supply chain services such as CSCMP, the supply chain council and others. After years of reading sleepy analyses of the mechanics of supply chain efficiency, I was thrilled to read this look at the real world, with ideas and examples that are actionable, effective, exciting and understandable. Sherman offers visionary lessons that link to common sense application. No matter what the reader's point of view, there are great ideas to mine here. It's a quick read, but it will become a very dog-eared heavily-used permanent addition to my briefcase.
