Ezziddin Jalawji is a well known Arab writer from Algeria. This novels shows the discrepancy between thinkers and governmental authority using literary style to enjoy reading. It depicts the hard years after the Algerian revolution. The Author is revolutionary in his thought, he decided once to burn 11000 copy of his novels, protesting the miserable level of literature in Arab countries. In his words: "Arab societies may stay hungry for a month, but they have no patience to read one book".

The novel was selected in the process of Ihyaa al Turath al Arabi fil Mahjar (revival of Arab Heritage in Diaspora) project, sponsored by the Arab American Encyclopedia-USA. Both originated and supported by Dr. Hasan Yahya, The Editor-in-chief is an Arab Palestinian American scholar, writer, and philosopher who believes in cultural beliefs. He introduces this novel to parents for promotion purposes between old and young generations. Dr. Yahya resides in Michigan-USA. He has four children and ten grandchildren.
