Written by Rodney Clawson, Jimmy Robbins, and Chris Tompkins, and produced by Scott Hendricks, "Sure Be Cool If You Did" is a midtempo song about the early stages of falling in love with someone, and how nothing that happens, or doesn't happen, will erase the feeling that is growing inside. With an unassuming but memorable and melodic chorus hook that goes "You don't have to keep me fallin' like this, but it'd sure be cool if you did," it's a good choice for the first single from Blake Shelton's newest album (Based on a True Story... from Warner Bros.), playing as it does to his considerable strengths as an interpreter of country love ballads.
