Surrender Review Soon to be posted at: Riverina Romantics My Rating: 4 out of 5 ¿ Heat Rating: 4 out of 5 ¿ I’m a huge fan of Pamela’s work, her I-Team series is amongst my favorites. So I decided to give her MacKinnon’s Rangers series a go. I had this lovely number on audiobook, cause I’m also a big fan of Kaelo Griffith. He is one of the best narrators ever, cause the way he said some of the lines in this book made me die. Repeatedly. As I melted into a pile of goo on the floor. Beautiful! I absolutely loved Iain! He was everything I would want in a highlander. He truly was a genuine man deep down, although at times he allowed his emotions to rage a little—which always resulted in something amazing between him and Annie. He always tried to do what was right by those around him, putting others before himself. He was loyal to those he deemed worthy of it, and gave’em hell if they didn’t. He had a huge heart, and had so much passion buried deep inside that when it came out, it was scorching and all-consuming. He knew how to treasure a woman, how to respect her and treat her like she was a queen. He had a knack for knowing who could be trusted. The things he did for Annie had me riveted and swooning with every page. He had the best of intentions when he rescued her, thinking nothing more of it beyond that. But somehow she had managed to get under his skin and burrow into his heart when he could not in any way let her go. In a matter of days, she had become his and he refused to lose her. He protected her in every way possible. His love for her ran so deep, that despite all the challenges that had been in their path, their bond did nothing but grow into a connection that was destined. Annie was a genuine-hearted woman. She had a rough life, the way she’d grown up tearing at any future she could have possibly had. So when she is rescued by Iain, she sees it as a way to start over and have a life free of the torments that had been forced upon her. She relied heavily on Iain, torn between wanting to run for her life or staying with the man whom made her feel protected. She was constantly at war with herself during her time with him, wondering if things between them would change if he ever knew the truth. But their whirlwind passion swept her up in the love of a man whom she found was everything to her. She did everything she could for him, she worried about him, she did as he asked, and she loved him so deeply she couldn’t imagine life without him. She didn’t want to leave him, hoping that she could have her new life with him wherever he was. She was a huge part of his life, and the life of his rangers, always finding ways she could be useful to them. She learned a lot about him and his mean, and learned to trust him with her life. She embraced everything he made her feel, and in the end, her trust and compassion found her a love so true and deep, that is seemed like it was meant to be. I loved Iain and Annie’s relationship. The way things flowed and how they happened really made everything so much more meaningful and passionate. It showed a depth that not many people have, and a kind of understanding that is often lost in today’s world. It showed that when you find the right person, nothing in the world will keep you a part. Another wonderful story! Looking forward to the next ranger.

Book One of MacKinnon's Rangers This is Iain and Annie's story. Iain is the eldest MacKinnon brother. He is forced into service in the British army by William Wentworth - one of his family's greatest enemies. When he comes across Annie in the forest, he saves her from certain death against his orders. Thus begins a romance to write home about. Audio notes - Kaleo Griffith is a god. His use of accents is wonderful and while he differentiates between men and women, he does not try to sound like a woman. If you're looking for a well-written, fantastically narrated story about love amongst war, this is the book for you.

It was a pretty good book. Although, as a big fan of highlander type romance novels, I'm comparing it to other great series by Monica McCarty or Diana Gabledon. Therefore, I'll say I finished it in about a day and a half and was pretty entertained but I'm giving it 3 stars because I didn't feel that some of the passionate scenes sizzled like in other series I have read and at times I even found myself chuckling at the Author's insistence that the pair repeatedly exclaim each other's names throughout the love scenes. Some of those scenes were just too cheesy for my taste and took away from the believability. I also felt that she could have made some of the adventures we experienced with the characters more exciting but all in all it was decent.

Iain MacKinnon is a wonderful character, 100% man. Annie is brave, spirited and "bonnie" - the perfect woman for Iain. I loved this.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Unlawfully charged with a crime and now fighting for the hated British, Iain MacKinnon disobeyed orders and endangered his brothers and his mission to rescue a woman. And though he sensed Annie was hiding something from him, it was too late to hold back his heart... REVIEW: Okay, so while the about doesn’t provide much, this book is a MUST read. Matter of fact, it’s a read it over and over and over again! Ms. Clare has done it again! She manages to ensnare me in her world and just when I think I may just “enjoy” a piece she has written, I walk away after reading, only to find that I absolutely ADORED the crap outta it. *grin* The characters are so very real, so very smooth, so very intriguing, and SO very lovable. Iain is the hero everyone wants to meet and Annie is the heroine that everyone wants to be. The rangers are adorable and Ms. Clare maintains such a level of honor and integrity that makes the entire experience so real. So true. I truly enjoyed this piece, loved all the different ways she added more drama to it and absolutely adored the MacKinnon brothers. Ms. Clare, if you shall ever find yourself in need of sending one of your heroes’s a home – send them my way! Five out of five stars for a job well done!
