About the Author

Born in Louisville, Sherry A. Burton was raised in the small town of Fairdale, Kentucky. Eloping December of 1980 with a Navy man while still in her teens, she has spent all of her adult life moving from state-to-state totaling over thirty-two moves in her thirty-three years of marriage. Sherry can attest first-hand to the fact that a whirlwind marriage can indeed last. Sherry credits her frequent moves and long separations to her ability to feel her characters’ desire to find true happiness.
Sherry has worked as a private nanny and is a certified dog trainer. She is the mother of three adult children and has six wonderful grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, walking, Pilates, and spending time with her “friends” — which is how she refers to the characters she creates. She believes in daily affirmations, positive energy and feels that karma will have the final say.
Sherry A. Burton currently resides in Chesapeake, Virginia. Sherry’s books include Tears of Betrayal, The King of My Heart, Somewhere in My Dreams, and “Whispers of The Past (a short story).” Sherry has several other books in the works, including a sequel to Tears of Betrayal.

A versatile author, Sherry writes children's books under the name Sherry A. Jones.

Surviving the Storm is the perfect escape for a summer afternoon. Sherry Burton really outdoes herself in this page-turner. From a sinister bodyguard to an unconventional neighbor, she introduces characters that help weave a tale of both horror and survival. Secrets abound in this novel set in New Orleans where the summer heat isn't the only thing stifling to this beautiful young widow. The intrigue will keep you on the edge of your seat as Abby discovers the enigma that is her new husband and exposes the macabre secrets that he desperately tries to hide.

This is by far one of Ms. Burton's best novels. She brings to life the characters in such detail, that you come to believe that you actually know each and every one of them. It's filled with so much suspense, that I couldn't put it down. Several times, I thought I had the plot figured out, to only turn the page and find out I was way off. Now, that's a good suspense when the ending takes you completely by surprise. It's a must read for anyone who enjoys the intrigue of living amongst people you "think" you know, but finding out it's not always what it seems..

Ladies, if you're looking for an edge of your seat thriller, look no further. The wait is over, Miss Burton's new book is well worth the wait. It is all about the facade behind the mask, about the evil that men do behind closed doors. It is about holding onto hope that things will get better. And what is a story set in New Orleans without hurricanes and voodoo priestesses? I can honestly say this is one of the best books I've ever read, I read it all in one sitting, except for the few times I got so stressed and nervous about what was happening that I had to put it down and walk away. Of course I came right back, because I had to know what was going to happen next. I will admit that I had my doubts about whether a romance writer could write a thriller, I am now sorry I doubted. It's hard to write a review without giving anything away, but I refuse to spoil it for you, sorry readers. Just trust me on this, if there's only one book you read this summer, let it be tjis one. You won't regret it.
