As usual, Shirleen Davies has delivered another wonderful read. This one is exciting and suspenseful and a little steamy while still not so much that it needs a 18+ rating. I love that we get to see all of the intimacy between these characters without feeling like we are reading a Playboy article. Shirleen's characters are so colorful and easy to relate to. We have a new leading lady in this one who we haven't met before. Her name is Allie, and she is the sister of one of the men killed during a bank robbery in a previous book in the series. Allie is out for revenge on the man who shot her brother, so she moves to Splender, sets up a dress shop, and starts asking questions, but she is having a hard time finding out who it was. Nobody wants to talk about the details, and they are starting to wonder why she is so interested in finding them out. Meanwhile, she is falling for Cash who just happens to be the one who shot her brother if you remember that from past books. He can tell that something just isn't right with her and the story she has been telling everyone, but he can't help the attraction he feels towards her. She is making new friendships with many of the townspeople who we have come to love in previous books in this series, and she is feeling worse and worse about her plans to kill one of them. There is also another threat from the outside of someone else who wants the same revenge. In side stories, we learn more about the lives of some of the other characters from previous books. Bull and Lydia's relationship is blooming. Beau and Caro are having problems because Caro still wants to continue her journey to California. Nick is getting frustrated with Suzanne not having any time to herself where he can court her. I think I got all of those names correct. Forgive me if I mixed anyone up. The end of this one was rather surprising. It wasn't anything like what I had anticipated. And then, in the epilogue, there was a huge cliffhanger for the next book that has me on the edge of my seat waiting for it to be released. I just love these series that Shirleen puts out, and I check at least once a week to see if there is anything new from her even though I am subscribed for email alerts. I just want to make sure I don't miss anything. Now, to wait for her next book coming out in a couple of weeks!

This a the fifth book in the Redemption Mountain series. The reader is grabbed from the first page and whisked from Civil War South to old west Montana as Alison needs to find answers to her brothers death and finds the answers to her future with Cash. Enjoyed catching up with old friends in town and meeting new characters. Find a comfortable chair and settle in for a good read. Received Authors copy for honest review and much enjoyed.

A Wonderful and Entertaining Historical Western Romance Author Shirleen Davies’ talent shines again. She clearly has done a lot of research for her historical western romance series. She gives us a glimpse into life after the Civil War and how people’s lives were forever affected and changed by it. Although her stories are fiction, the depth of her writing truly makes the reader feel what it must have been like to have lived through and survived that era, and how difficult it must have been to pick up and move forward. In Survivor Pass, you’ll definitely find another example of that. To say that I fully enjoyed the story is just not enough. The story sucked me in from the very first page and kept my interest throughout. First, there’s Cash Coulter. I fell in love with him right off the bat. Just imagining all he had been through and how he came through it all was just a part of it. He’s tough but caring, serious but funny, and then he’s got the whole handsome and rugged thing going on. Yup. Cash drew me in immediately. Next, there’s Alison McGrath. I confess that I didn’t like her very much. She came to Splendor under false pretenses and lived her lie while the people she came across accepted her and treated her well. Nope, I didn’t like her much at all. However, that was part of the draw. I wanted to find out if she was going to change and how much Cash would have to do with that change. Suffice it to say that Alison eventually started growing on me as she finally moved toward “coming clean” with Cash and everyone else. Although Survivor Pass is part of a series, it is also a stand alone. One of the things the author does is incorporate past characters into the story. She does so in a way that helps the reader obtain some background knowledge, which enhances the story, without taking away from the main characters. Shirleen Davies also shines at writing a story that is loaded with romance, intrigue, and suspense, and Survivor Pass definitely fits that category. So, the bottom line is that great characters, romance, intrigue and suspense are what make Survivor Pass a wonderful and entertaining historical western romance. *****I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
