Suzie the sock monkey was worried. She was going to Preschool today.
"Mommy, my tummy hurts. Can I stay home?" she asked.
"Maybe it's a nervous tummy. Let's see how you feel after breakfast," answered Mommy.
After breakfast Mommy drove Suzie to the preschool. Suzie did not want to get out of the car. Mommy smiled at her. "Don't worry Suzie. You've already met your preschool teacher. You will have fun."
Mommy walked Suzie to the door of the class. Suzie stopped. She began to cry. "Come with me Mommy. Stay with me."
"I am sorry Suzie. I stayed with you last time when we met the teacher. Preschool is for children only," she replied.
Suzie did not want Mommy to leave her there. She did not want to be away from her. Would Mommy come back? Suzie did not want to be with children she did not know.
The teacher was Mrs. Peach. She smiled at Suzie and Mommy. Mrs. Peach asked them to come in. She showed Suzie and Mommy around the class. There were toys in bins and games on the shelves of one wall. There was a reading corner with lots of books and comfy chairs. There were lots of things in the classroom.
Suzie looked at the other boys and girls. Some of them were having fun. Some of them looked scared too. Mrs. Peach brought Suzie and Mommy over to a little girl in a blue dress. "This is Ella," she said. "Would you girls like to play dolls?"
Ella said, "You can be the mommy, Suzie."
"Okay," answered Suzie.
After a few minutes Mommy said to Suzie, "I'm going to go home for a bit. I will be back after Circle Time."
Suzie and Ella had fun playing with the dolls. After awhile Ella said, "Let's go do some puzzles."
Mrs. Peach came over to them. "Girls, in preschool you must put away what you are using before you do something else."
Suzie replied, "Yes, Mrs. Peach." After they put the dolls away, Suzie and Ella went to the puzzle centre. Suzie looked around and said, "Look at all the puzzles Ella. I have puzzles at my house. Do you have puzzles at your house?"
Ella answered, "Yes. My mommy does puzzles with me."
"I'm going to do the puppy puzzle," Suzie said.
"I'm going to do the farm puzzle," said Ella. "I like to go to my friend Seth's farm. Seth and his brother Eric have cows, horses, pigs and sheep at their farm. They even have chickens."
