Loved it. Seriously dramatic... anyone who likes things a little dark would love JT Geissinger. It's a true rocker romance, but the author explore rather deep themes here as well. This is a great series and skirts some trigger issues without going to far IMHO

I read the premise to this novel and knew I had to read it and see if it was as good as it sounded. Kat ( I love this name!) is a Hollywood makeup artist who has been hired to do the make-up for a music video for the band Bad Habit. She meets the lead singer, Nico Nyx (yep, another cool name!) and their attraction to each other is immediate. Unfortunately, according to all of the gossip rags, he has a girlfriend. That girlfriend shows up at the video, where she is supposed to play the bride to Nico's groom, and she is wasted on drugs. Nico takes advantage of the opportunity and asks Kat to fill in... For $30k. I would do many things for $30k and it seems that Kat feels the same way. She takes the job, but gives him a few rules to follow. No touching and no nudity! She's annoyed because he can't keep his eyes off of her, which she finds ridiculous. He has a girlfriend...or so she thought. As I've said before, and I don't believe I'm alone, I love a good Rocker love story. As long as it's well done. On the surface this story seemed a lighthearted fling, but I should've known better. J.T. Geissinger, who also writes the Dark Prowler series, likes her stories a little on the dark side. This book follows that theme but the story has a lot more depth than that synopsis led me to believe. Nico and Kat have many challenges in front of them. They both have dark pasts and tons of baggage, but despite that I liked Kat and Nico a lot. She was pretty but strong willed, and stood up for herself. He was gorgeous and tormented. Kat didn't let Nico, who was very possessive and had some anger issues, control her life. I have never understood the attraction of a guy with anger issues, and that was the one negative for me in this story. Even if he were Jon Bon Jovi, if we were fighting all the time I'd walk. However, I did not walk away from this book! The story was mysterious, sexy, and had a touch of a thriller feel to it. How did I miss this book coming out?! Lucky for me there is a second book in this series that I can grab and read right away, Make Me Sin, which is about band member A. J. and Kat's best friend Chloe who seem to hate each other. Hmmmm, but do they? I recommend it if you are looking for a departure from the normal summer beach read.

Sweet as Sin (Bad Habit #1) by J.T. Geissinger Sweet as Sin by J.T. Geissinger is a rocking start to the Bad Habit Series. Hollywood makeup artist Kat Reid agrees to work on the set of a new music video for the world-famous band Bad Habit. When lead singer, Nico Nyx, girlfriend show up too drunk to play her role in the video, they convince Kat to play the part. Kat and Nyx have incredible chemistry in the video that Nyx wants to peruse off camera. I really enjoyed this contemporary rock romance suitable for new adult and adult audiences. Both Kat and Nico are complex characters that grow throughout the story. They have an incredible chemistry. Nico is hiding his past, and Kat discovers his secrets in this story. The story is emotional and heartfelt. The plot is intense and believable. The characters are likable. J.T. Geissinger is off to a great new series. I cannot wait for the next book. Melodrama with a capital M, but so damn good! It's love at first sight for makeup artist Kat and rock star Nico, but there are a lot of bumps in the road to their HEA. There are some funny moments at the beginning that made me laugh out loud but this story has some twists I didn't see coming including a psycho determined to keep Kat and Nico apart. This couple is on fire! I really loved this book and can't wait to read the next book in the series. This is a page turner and I couldn't put it down.

I'm usually not a fan of rock star books because there is usually too many trashy woman in these types of books. I probably wouldn't have given this one a chance if it wasn't for getting an ARC of the 2nd book in this series. I'm so glad I got that ARC because I loved that book so much I had to buy this one to see if it was just as good...and it was! Both Bad Habits books are Awesome! I couldn't put either of them down and now I have a new author to add to my favorites!

Reviewed by Angela and posted at Under The Covers Book Blog Kat Reid is an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist doesn’t care much for the rock star world or anyone in it until meeting Nico Nyx lead singer and guitarist for Bad Habit. She thought him just any playboy rock star, but his secrets will change her mind about him and possibly even the stereotypes that come with his rock star world. This book brought a roller coaster of emotions. While the romance is sexy and cute, some of the angst was a bit too much for me. Nico went back and forth on how he treated Kat which was explained, but it was a bit annoying. Seems like Kat had such a good head on her shoulder that she could’ve just said F.U. and left. I get why she stuck around though. Nico has that rockstar swagger that cannot be ignored; the man is a bad boy personified, and there is more to him than meets the eye. A lot more. The story ended on a good note, and I’m satisfied on how everything turned out. Overall, I like Ms. Geissinger’s writing, and I trust the next installment will be even better. Next up is Bad Habit’s drummer A.J. Edwards out January 12, 2016

Lust, love, trust and secrets… Working as a Hollywood make-up artist, Katherine (Kat) Reid, has known celebrities. She’s engaged to work on the set of a rock video for the famous band Bad Habit that she knows nothing about. She’s speechless when she espies the lead singer. The man is gorgeous, sexy with a presence that’s overpowering on and off the stage. From across the room their eyes meet and she’s jolted by the electrical connection that she feels. Never would she have thought that she’d end up being in the music video with him, a replacement for the star’s girlfriend who shows up drunk and who Kat spunkily stands up for which makes an impression. The rock star Nico Nyx is a man who is stunningly attractive, he is sex incarnate, the kind of man that all eyes notice when he enters a room. He’s a man who knows what he wants, goes after it and expects to get it. When his eyes take in the luscious brunette across the room he feels a chemistry he hasn’t felt before. Needing a substitute in his video for the woman believed to be his girlfriend he makes the make-up artist a monetary offer that she can’t refuse. Neither can hide the steaminess of the magnetism between them which shows on the set and in the video. Kat doesn’t know what to do with the attention Nico rains down on her as he pursues her. She tries to keep him at a distance but with wonderful gestures that are overpowering it’s hard to deny him. He’s embraced the wild life of a rocker but there’s more to him than is known, there are secrets hidden that would change the perception the public has of him, secrets he doesn’t readily share. Yet he expects Kat to trust him when he says not to believe the tabloids. Trust is extremely important to Nico and he wants it from Kat but he’s slow at telling her things which causes misconceptions that she has to deal with. What Nico hides from the public is not just his story to tell and when the story ultimately breaks to the media it’s from someone he cared about who provided him protection. This story was one severe case of instant lust that became love in a very short amount of time. It’s well-written with vivid descriptions, suspense and darkness in the storyline. There’s an intense backstory for the hero that is heartbreaking, his past defined him, darkening his life. The past returns to haunt his future, to tear it down because he’s found happiness with a woman and that’s not allowed by someone. Both Kat and Nico were interesting, likable characters with flaws. The hero was a sexy alpha, the heroine quite spirited. Though I very much enjoyed this story there were things about the main characters disliked, the amount of drinking of the heroine, the hero’s penchant for punishing the heroine in anger with spanking and her allowance of such behavior. I found the language used was unrefined at times which was off-putting. The ending appears to be setting up the next book for Chloe and A.J., two distinct opposites which should be interesting. I’m hoping that their story is not a love triangle which this reader avoids and since Chloe is currently involved with someone nice. ARC provided by the publisher via NetGalley.

If you are looking for a real hot rock star romance – you can stop searching because you came to the right place. This book has it all – the typical setting, the perfect characters and the great chemistry. There is enough of everything in here to keep you entertained… A LOT. Sure you will find some cliché in here as well but certain storys just do not work without that so it’s not necessarily a bad thing. I am afraid that I will say too much about the story so I will just say that the reader will find the complete range of emotions in this book, so be prepared for everything (in my case that would mean it includes the need for chocolate and tissues) It was my first book of this author and it will def. not be my last.

It was a “thunderstruck” moment when Kat and Nico first met. That analogy will make more sense once you read this rock band romance, which I do hope will turn into a series. The beginning was very creative, well written in its approach to introducing the two lead characters. Throw in the a quirky humorous stylist, Kenji, and I was certain I had stumbled upon a Kylie Scott (Stage Dive series) meets Kristen Ashley (Rock Chick) type read. Yes, I am a big fan of those books. Chloe and Grace added to my “Rock Chick” vibe as Kat’s best friends. A.J. and Barney did, as well, but from the alpha male aspect. I definitely see these four characters opening the door to more books in a potential series. Unfortunately, this feeling came and went throughout the book leaving me quite uncertain now how to rate it. It was all good until the full story with Avery was revealed. I know I shouldn’t give away spoilers (even though I don’t mind them) because many readers hate them, so I’ll try to tread lightly here. The topic revolving around Avery is “very” disturbing, to put it mildly. The fact there were “three” situations concerning her I found over the top and just not necessary. One of them alone would have been sufficient to establish her with a broken past. In my view, this detracted from my enjoyment of the book. Throw in Nico’s true relationship with Avery vs. the public perception they willingly helped keep into place, and I was left shaking my head in disbelief/frustration. Seldom do I not finish a book in one setting, I actually walked away from this one and was hesitant to finish it. I guess you could say it just lost its credibility with me, hence, my enthusiasm for the story. I did push past my misgivings to finish the book and was pleasantly surprised to find an action packed ending. My overall feeling that a good part of this story didn’t work for me was due to the “black cloud” hanging over Avery and Nico’s family. This frustrates me greatly, because I absolutely loved the author’s writing style at the beginning. The book had great potential, but given the perimeters of the plot (the black cloud), it isn’t surprising it caused me to reluctantly lower my rating. WARNING: There are several explicit steamy scenes. (This review is based on ARC e-book generously provided via NetGalley in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.)
