"Another winner!" The Book Report

"Shelton continues to combine suspenseful storytelling with sensitive portrayals of complex family relationships." –Booklist

USA Today bestselling author Connie Shelton introduces her most delightful cozy mystery series yet--a little romance, a little magic and a whole lot of chocolate! Samantha Sweet breaks into houses for a living but she's really a baker with a magical touch.

In this first book in the series,Sam finds an unmarked grave at one of her properties and calls the authorities. A small mural in the abandoned house provides clues--add a fortune in artwork, a bogus will, and a wooden box that gives Sam powers she never dreamed she possessed --it all adds up to a dynamic paranormal mystery.

Add a dash of romance, as the deputy who keeps getting called out to investigate the mysterious happenings at Sam's properties becomes increasingly attracted to her. Together they find themselves tracking a killer.

"A good bet." --Booklist

"A delightfully complex mystery." (4 stars)

"Shelton again has done a superb job in bringing New Mexico to life."

Easy read, fun ,a little romance( not the in your face explicit) a little mystery. My only thing is the old woman and the box...what she said to Sam.about powers then on to a story about the murder of an artist. I kept expecting to find out more of that than it just glowed or was warm when she touched it. Did I miss something. Overall really good. I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this light cozy mystery and the main character's second occupation gives the book an unexpected twist. I truly liked the featured characters and the fact that Ms Shelton made them have human reactions and temptations while giving them a moral compass was a definite plus. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series.
