I read this novel from beginning to end, and there is just too much hatred shown between White and Indian, and too many challenges from beginning to end. There is just too much information here. This makes you wonder - is this a love story or a history lesson? If Ms. Hockett wants this to be a love story then, let this focus on the love story and not focus on the building of hatred between Whites and Indians. Of course, we know about that time and the differences/hatred between the White and Indian, but this book exploits that. This is the first time I have read one of Kathryn Hockett's books, and I will read another to give her writing a second chance, but as I said, there is just too much information in this book
