Sweet by Skye Warren

My brother is both powerful and cruel, which means I have a lot of enemies I've never met. He swears he'll keep me safe, but what I want most is to break free. I especially want to break free with Drew, my brother's lawyer.

We shouldn't be together, but everything about him draws me. His intensity, his kindness.

And the way he looks in those custom tailored suits.

One night when he's outside my bedroom, I give him a sexy show. And in doing so, unlock pandora's box. Drew shows me everything I've been missing. He touches my body and my heart, but when the truth comes to light, we're both in danger.

The cost of my freedom may be the man I've come to love.

"This story was lovely and so engaging, I could read it over and over. The flow of it and the prose had the elegance of a ballet performance. Somehow Rose's elegance flowed through her into the story. The ending was so incredibly romantic and fit the characters perfectly." --Ms Romantic Reads

"I very much enjoy her style. There's always a darkness within, a desperation that keeps them apart..." --Sinfully Sexy Book Reviews

"Nice and steamy, even before they get their hands on one another. They are so sweet and I love them together." --Wi Love Books

Characters: Rose Drew Phillip Synopsis Rose is in a ballet dancer and needs to follow her goals soon. Her only problem is how to tell her brother, that she wants to teach ballet, start a studio and get an apartment to live on her own. Philip is a powerful man and has enemies. He is controlling and very protective of Rose for this reason. Drew is Philips’ lawyer and he wants Rose. The thing is Rose wants Drew also and she afraid of what Philip will do when he finds out. Review This is the first time reading this author and I will be checking out her other titles to read. I absolutely loved the story line and it was well written. The development of the story is about a girl that was in foster care and her form of escape was ballet classes at the local YMCA. Finally she was released to her brothers’ custody, once the legal system deemed he was able to care for me. Drew is Philip’s lawyer keeping him safe from the underhanded ways of doing business. Rose has wanted Drew since the first time she saw him and over the years nothing has changed. Take the chance of finding how good this book really is and read this book, you will not regret it.

Skye Warren has a new fan!!! I loved this story! Rose is tired of living under the thumb of her over-protective brother Philip, she wants to live life on her own terms and be with the man she secretly loves. Drew is Philip's (Mob Boss/Rose’s Brother) friend and lawyer, and Rose is what he has longed for. Both are tired of denying their feelings for each other and they decide to risk it all for love. Love comes at a price. This was my first Skye Warren story. It was sooo good that I went to buy more of her works and was pleasantly surprised to see this was part of an ongoing story. Sweet was written like a stand-alone. I can’t wait to see how other character’s stories are told, especially Phillip’s.

3.5* Sweet is the first book/novella by Skye Warren that I've had a chance to read. I wasn't familiar with the Chicago Underground series before starting this one, but I don't really feel like I was missing out on anything by not having read the previous books. Rose is tired of living under the shadow of her over-protective brother Philip, she wants to live life on her own terms and be with the man she dreams about. Drew is Philip's longtime friend and lawyer, and Rose the forbidden fruit he wants but can't have. As feelings grow between the two, things grow tense with Philip and limits are pushed. Rose and Drew's developing relationship felt a little awkward at first, but I think that's what was so realistic about it. I really liked these 2, Skye did a great job building their relationship in the short amount of time they were given. I felt the tension and the angst, the heartache and the want. I love when a book surprises me- when I'm not sure what to expect from it and end up really enjoying it, and that's what happened with Sweet. Although it's a short story it really packed a lot of punch- full of action, drama, and danger. I thought the story was unique and the characters well developed. It's a sexy and sweet read. *I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

I've previously only read Skye Warren's darker reads, so this was a chance for me to try some of her less intense/dark storytelling. Novellas are always tricky for me because nine times out of ten I always want more time with a story if I enjoy the characters. This is a perfect example of that. I very much liked Drew and Rose and wish we had more page time with them. Despite the short length, this was a really enjoyable sensual read for me and I find myself interested enough to want to read the previous stories in this series. I have a feeling I will enjoy it more once I've read those, though it can be read as a standalone (I haven't read 1-6 and did not feel lost while reading).

Let me start by saying if you have read the rest of the series leading up to Sweet then you are as addicted as I am!! I loved this book as much as I did the rest of the Chicago Underground series because it made me laugh, cry, and get annoyed, and even aroused!! I love a book that puts me through the wringer and I really hope this isn't the end of the series because I want MORE!!!I'm not going to describe the book to you because I want you to discover it all for yourself, I think it's better that way!! Yes I highly recommend this book, in fact I recommend the whole series!! Go ahead, you will not be sorry, I promise!!

Achingly sweet love story, with just a bit of the rawness that Skye is so famous for. Rose is trying very hard to get from under the thumb of her powerful, dangerous, and over protective brother, Philip. She has loved Drew, her brothers lawyer for years, but has never had the guts to make the first move. She knows he is waiting, ever so patiently for her to give him the go ahead. And one night, she does just that. But, there is danger involved, because they both know if her brother finds out, there will be hell to pay. This was a bit of a departure for Skye, she usually writes a much darker story, but wow can she write a sweet one as well. I loved the longing between Drew and Rose, you could feel it in your bones. It was just a beautiful read. I just can't get enough of Skye's writing, it's just perfect.
