From the USA Today bestselling Sweet Home Series, comes Sweet Soul, a heart-wrenching story of love in its purest form.

One shy lost soul.
One silent lonely heart.
One love to save them both.

Life has never been easy for twenty-year-old Levi Carillo. The youngest of the Carillo boys, Levi is nothing like his older brothers. He isn't dark in looks or intimidating to everyone he meets. In fact, he's quite the opposite. Haunted by a crippling shyness and the tragic events of his past, Levi spends his days with his head buried in his books, or training hard for his college football team. Too timid to talk to girls, Levi stays as far away as possible and completely on his own... until he saves the life of a troubled pretty blonde, a troubled pretty blonde that might just be the exception to his rule.
Elsie Hall is homeless. Or at least that's all anyone ever sees. Every day is a fight for survival on the cold streets of Seattle, everyday a struggle to find food and keep warm. Alone in life--a life that's dangerous and cruel--her will to keep going is an ever-losing battle. In her world of silence, Elsie has given up hope that her life will contain anything but constant heartache and pain... until the beautiful boy she has severely wronged comes to her rescue at precisely the right time.

New Adult novel--contains sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

When she is not writing, Tillie enjoys nothing more than curling up on her couch watching movies, drinking far too much coffee, while convincing herself that she really doesn’t need that extra square of chocolate.

It had been awhile since i read the first three books in this series but i thought this book was too drawn out and way too predictable and melodramatic.

This book was so sad, it made me cry. I never want my children, any child to go through what Clara went through. This is a book you should buy and read, it will not disappoint.

This author's books always end up making me cry. The characters have a depth to them that just makes me feel for them when you find out more about their background. Knowing some of Levi's background from the other books, his story goes into how he felt during certain situations that occurred during his young life. Now 20 years old, I was surprised at exactly how shy he is and things that he has not done. I can understand how he feels about going to parties and feeling uncomfortable around other people when you don't know what to say. Elsie's background is just as heartbreaking as Levi's. Growing up the way she did with her mother and then being bullied because of how she sounds. When she meets Levi's school friends, she is bullied again. Because of the things she is bullied about, she starts to feel self-conscience around Levi and feels that she is holding him back. Levi finally convinces her where she really belongs. I liked the ending because I felt that it tied up this series quite well.

This novel really hit me. It hit me not individually, but as a part of an entire series. In each of the books in the Sweet Home series, Ms. Cole has captured a piece of my heart. From dealing with subjects such as abusive parents, gang life, eating disorders, and bullying. As a teacher, I see forms of these issues in children at school and it breaks my heart. Reading it in these stories ... the same. Sweet Soul was no exception in this series. Levi, a shy young man who has lived a hard life influenced by gang life and the death of his mother, is infinitely different from his classmates. He is talented, smart, and has an amazing future awaiting him, but he's ... removed. He meets a young homeless woman, who steals something very important from him. Looking beyond this moment, Levi sees a kindred soul. Elsie has led a life with many similarities to that of the Carillo family & she needs someone to believe in. Although this story focuses on the relationship between Levi & Elsie, I saw so much more. I saw the love of family giving to a stranger, I saw the giving and receiving of trust, and the heart of a woman who has been through hell reaching out to help others. Bullying is an all to prevalent issue in our society. Not just in children and teens, but also in adults. It doesn't have to be daily and it doesn't have to be violent, all it takes is a well placed phrase that settles into your mind. This is done as a joke, a clever turn of phrase, and sometimes even on accident. What everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, needs to take into consideration is that people matter. Not what they look like, not what they can do for you, not who their family is, EACH PERSON MATTERS. They matter for just existing & they exist for a purpose. No other individual has the right to tear them down. "Be kind-hearted. Simply be kind of heart."
