I loved this book. I picked it up one morning and couldn't put it down - meaning: I read it in one day. It's so fabulous that after I finished reading a library copy, I bought four copies - one to keep and three to give as gifts. You don't need to be a master-chef to appreciate the way the recipes and tales of cooking are woven into recognizable and relatable moments of everyday life. It’s wonderful, compelling, delicious, and most satisfying.
The recipes are outstanding, but it is the stories that propel this smart, funny, and touching collection of tales. Each chapter can be read alone, but once you begin, you will not want to put the book down until you have devoured every one. (Though you may feel compelled to stop and make one of the tempting recipes. If you enjoyed Amanda Hesser's "Cooking for Mr. Latte," you'll love this.
