A USA TODAY bestselling contemporary romance about the complexities of love and self-discovery in the early post-college years.

Mia Kelly thinks she has it all figured out. She’s an Ivy League graduate, a classically trained pianist, and the beloved daughter of a sensible mother and offbeat father. Yet Mia has been stalling since graduation, torn between putting her business degree to use and exploring music, her true love.

When her father unexpectedly dies, she decides to pick up the threads of his life while she figures out her own. Uprooting herself from Ann Arbor to New York City, Mia takes over her father’s café, a treasured neighborhood institution that plays host to undiscovered musicians and artists. She’s denied herself the thrilling and unpredictable life of a musician, but a chance encounter with Will, a sweet, gorgeous, and charming guitarist, offers her a glimpse of what could be. When Will becomes her friend and then her roommate, she does everything in her power to suppress her passions—for him, for music—but her father’s legacy slowly opens her heart to the possibility of something more.

Love, Love, Love this book. If you loved Thoughtless by S.C. Stephens, you will love Sweet Thing. Oh, I am swooning over Will. I want my very own Will! Mia is heading from Detroit to NYC to take over her father's business and apartment after his death. On the plane ride there she sits by Will, who is petrified of flying. They strike up a conversation to help calm Will's nerves and discover that they actually have a lot in common. Will is a musician. Mia is also into music but is trying to be practical and not a "flighty musician" She has a business degree and she is determined to make something of her life. Will is a struggling artist living in a storage unit. Mia decides to take a roommate and Will is there to fill the room. But he ends up filling more than the room, he begins to fill her heart. Mia is bound and determined that she will not let Will in. She knows that he is going to break her heart. Will waits patiently hoping that Mia will see what they have for what it is. Together they are magic and she knows it, but she is running scared. She makes bumbling mistake after bumbling mistake. Some of them were cringe worthy and made me literally ache for them. This was poignant and heartbreaking. I absolutely adored this book. I fell in love with Will and Mia. I loved that they were facing the real trouble of a young twenty-somethings trying to muddle through life and figure out what they want. Mia struggles to deal with the loss of her father in the only way she knows how. Will is her rock, her best friend. You get a HEA, and it is so worth ALL of the heartache! I can't rave enough about this book! LOVED IT!

One of the best books I've read in a long time! The story and characters are phenominal! If you loved this book, then I recommend How to Kill a Rockstar. Has a similar vibe but still two awesome stories!

I'm actually totaly surprised by these reviews. This book is definetly for readers with an extreme musical interest. Even though I don't have an extreme interest in this area, I've read several romances where music was heavily involed that I loved. This isn't one of them. I love love love Will but can't hardly stand Mia! I get her stuggle with trusting Will's career path because of the issues with her parents but the mood swings and fact that she does't listen to a word of advice from Jenny along with how often she leads Will on is annoying! She seems like a spoiled selfish brat...to the point that its hard to like the main character! I feel like this story was drug out too long and at times didn't hardly keep my attention. Sorry, i hate to give a bad review but I felt like the reviews on this were misleading. Everyone has different likes and if you are heavily interested in music then maybe this is for you. But even the love story part of this novel wasn't all that great!

I really loved this book. Will is phenomenal. He has officially earned a coveted spot amongst my book boyfriends that include Kellan, Travis, Christian, Luke, and another Will. I am now officially a fan of this author and will be on the lookout for more of her works. Tam from Goodreads :)

This was a great book. I am very picky about the books I read since I don't get a lot of time to read. I loved the prologue, it was a great start to a great love story. I found myself invested in Mia and Will from the beginning. I genuinely cared about them and their relationship. I read the book every night until I fell asleep. I have already suggested this book to several of my friends. I will be looking for Renee's next book.

I absolutely loved this book. I laughed and cried along with Mia. I think Will is in the running for best book boyfriend. I felt Mia's struggle with the 2 sides of herself. It was beautifully written. I can't wait to see what Renee writes next!!!

A beautiful and heartbreaking tale of love, loss, forgiveness, hope and the journey of life. There’s something about the way Renée writes, like she’s speaking directly into my soul. I don’t know why, but I always feel her books so much more deeply than I normally do with others. They crawl under my skin, live in my chest, flow through my veins. I don’t know how else to explain it. First of all, shame on me for waiting this long to read Sweet Thing. For being such a Renée fangirl, I waited an embarrassingly long time to make my way around to this one. My card should be revoked. It’s been signed on my bookshelf for 6 months though because I knew I would inevitably love it when I got around to it. That has to count for something, right? I cannot put into words how much I truly loved this book. It was infuriating, heartbreaking, fun, and sweet. I cried on several occasions, which is something I rarely do. Timeout. Why am I such a Renée fangirl when she’s always making me cry?! There hasn’t been a book of hers yet that hasn’t made me cry. Evil, lovely witch. I both hated and loved Mia equally. She made me so angry! I wanted to strangle her many times. But I loved and appreciated the journey she had to go on to find healing and purpose. I know that she did many of the things she did because she wasn’t ready…for anything. To move on, to heal, to grow up, to trust. So even though I respect what she went through and I understand it, I still kind of want to hurt her. But I love her! Argh! Will on the other hand? Oh, my sweet sweet Wilbur. How do you describe perfection? I loved absolutely everything about him and my heart ached for him. I felt everything for him. He’s such a kind soul, with a huge talent, a bigger heart, and a smile that will make you weak in the knees. All he would have to do is direct one “Baby” my way and I would be his. Sweet Thing is a beautiful tale of love, loss, forgiveness, and healing. I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you’re one of the loonies like I was who has not read this book, correct that problem immediately. If you take my advice on any book, let this be the one.

I found this gem quite by chance and I have to say that I will definitely read it again! Will and Mia's story is everything I love in a contemporary romance!!! I enjoyed the setting and Ms. Carlino's choice in music and I wouldn't mind seeing a movie adaptation! This book tugged at my heart and wouldn't let go!!!

I really loved this book....however I really hated Mia at times!  She drove me crazy with her indecisiveness and at times really mean ways.  I completely fell in love with Will however.  I don't think Mia deserves him but I'm still glad of the outcome of the book.  Still debating whether I want to read the second book because I love how this one ended.

This book ruined me for all other romance novels. Beautiful, honest, and heartwrenching, it sucked me in with every word. I attempted to read the whole book in one night (I just couldn't put it down!) beginning at 10pm...not a great idea. I was up til 2am almost crying with the intensity of the novel. Renee Carlino created a true, pure story with characters so vivid and real, yet achingly perfect, that anyone would kill to have in their life. This is an absolutely fantastic book that I would recommend to all.

All I can say is WOW! I've had this book on my TBR list for awhile but for some reason just never read it. Something about the cover didn't grab me, I saw the original cover I liked it so much better. But when I went through Aestas Blog Blog recommendations for a new book to read. It just said "read me next". Oh, boy am I glad I did. It was great! From the prologue to the epilogue i was sucked into the story. Will was the perfect hero...funny, smart, talented, patient...you will lose your heart the minute you meet him. Mia was lost, trying to find her way. "You have to teach your heart and mind how to sing together...then you'll hear the sound of your soul..." There were times in the book I just wanted to strangle her but it all worked out in the end. I totally loved the prologue and epilogue. A great one sitting book, so plan not to put it down once you start. I can't wait for her to write her next book!
