Overview

Sweetbriar by Jude Deveraux

Linnet plunged into the Kentucky wilderness, leaving behind the remnants of her life in London. But a savage Indian attack on the wagon train wiped out her fellow travelers, and left her alone in a harsh land...at the mercy of a fierce Shawnee tribe.

When handsome young brave claimed her, in perfect English, as his own, Linnet knew she was safe. Until the jealousy of his powerful chief forced them to flee on a hazardous journey, fraught with peril and treachery...a journey that threatened both their lives, and their very special love!

This would have been an excellent story if the hero wasnt bipolar! He was so heroic at times, saving Linnet then the orphans, but he turns around and treats her like trash; bedding her in the forest where he realizes it was her first time and he leaves her there asleep?? Action and plot and heroine really good, couldnt get over the unfaithful jerk of a hero.... I much prefer external elements keeping H/H apart, not the stupid hero!

Jude Deveraux is one of my all time favorite authors. Velvet Promise was my first romance novel! I've read nearly ALL of her books and I must say that this is the worst of her books. If you want a good introduction to Ms. Deveraux go with any other book EXCEPT this one!

A good quick read, nice for the beach. The characters are lovable and again Jude D. writes with humor.

I have read 99% of her books and enjoy everyone of them. It has become such that I don't even read the back of her new novels I just purchase them. I am sad that I have read nearly all of her books. I recommend Julie Garwood and Lisa Kleypas.
