About the Author

Hollie Anne Marsh is an Australian author who lives in Barcelona, Spain with her partner, baby boy, and Oldenburg horse, Frieda.
Hollie has been riding since she was a little girl, enjoying activities such as Pony Club, showjumping, eventing, and trail-riding in the great Australian bush. Hollie lived in England for almost ten years where she had two horses and trained them for dressage.
The Sweetbriars series is inspired by all the special moments Hollie spent with horses... good, funny, and challenging moments!
In creating the new Sweetbriars series, Hollie hopes that readers will not only find the books fun to read, but they will also inspire readers to learn more about horses.

Cate and Alex, along with their parents, move to a new farm in the English countryside with the purpose of setting up an Equestrian Center. The book is heavy with horse references which may be more appropriate for those with intimate knowledge of life with and around horses. If you are not familiar with the detailed equestrian workings, the book does a great job explaining and not leaving those readers behind. "Sweetbriars, Leaving the City" is a very enjoyable book for young girls in middle school. It's a fast read, easy to follow and features worthwhile character development and a story that will keep young readers interested. Being quite a bit older than middle school age, I finished the book quickly, but was entertained all the same. Highly recommended for young girls looking for a fun read. If they are animal loves, all the better. If they love horses even more so. If they have an understanding of horse ownership and/or riding, they'll absolutely fall in love with it. I received a copy of "Sweetbriars, Leaving the City" in exchange for my honest review.

I shared this book with my 10 year old daughter, reading it myself and then persuading her to read it for herself. We both thoroughly enjoyed the short novel, both being avid horse lovers ourselves. 'Sweetbriars: Leaving the City' is the first in a series by the author, so we'll be checking out the rest as well. The story was well paced, wholesome and age appropriate with lessons to be learned on and off the ranch. Although our love of horses is from afar, being strictly city folk and all, the story was engaging and informative. My daughter read the book over a two week period which says a lot, due to her less than stellar attention span when it comes to reading. 'Sweetbriars: Leaving the City' however held her captivated. As a parent, this was my favorite part. The author has created a series that little girls will enjoy, all the more so when they harbor a love for horses before they begin. Highly recommended. - I was given a copy of 'Sweetbriars: Leaving the City' in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I love the new book called Leaving The City as part of the new Sweetbriars series. I love the way that Cate becomes braver through being pulled out of her comfort zone, and how she begins to embrace the challenge of taking up dressage. The characters are all quite different (some quite quirky) and it's interesting to see the way they grow. I look forward to seeing where this series goes!
