Swindle (Swindle Series #1) by Gordon Korman

Ocean's 11 . . . with 11-year-olds, in a super stand-alone heist caper from Gordon Korman!

After a mean collector named Swindle cons him out of his most valuable baseball card, Griffin Bing must put together a band of misfits to break into Swindle's compound and recapture the card. There are many things standing in their way -- a menacing guard dog, a high-tech security system, a very secret hiding place, and their inability to drive -- but Griffin and his team are going to get back what's rightfully his . . . even if hijinks ensue.
This is Gordon Korman at his crowd-pleasing best, perfect for readers who like to hoot, howl, and heist.

I read this in like the 4th grade and I read it in like three days (after that, I tried to read all of the books that I ever read in three days, successfully). I love it love it love it. I didn't know who the heck Gordon Korman was before this book, but now, he is like my writing idol. He is amazing at what he does, and even as I went into middle school, the third book came out. I realized that the text was kinda big, and the words were a little younger for me, but that didn't pull me away. I became older, but the books didn't make me feel like it. I love it. I love this series. I love Gordon Korman. Exciting, entertaining, fun. I can't stop reaching for Gordon Korman books now. I read this one like 6 times in like a month and a half. I love it all Gordon Korman... Keep 'em coming! =)

I was first drawn to this book as a Read-Aloud for my students because of its cover. We love dogs! Once inside the pages of the story we found so much more. We found new vocabulary, discussion, and cliffhangers. We found good friends who always found a way to be there for each other. We found that justice prevails. They thought it was one of the best books that they had ever read. They are looking forward to reading Mr. Korman's new book, Zoobreak.

Swindle This is a great book for middle school students and older children. This is a great attention grabber. The main character Griffin had a sleepover with Ben in and old house and found a baseball card. They took the card to a local pawn shop and the man there named Swindle told them the card was fake. He only gave them a hundred bucks. A few days later Griffin was watching the news and saw Swindle on there holding up their card saying it was worth a lot of money and that he was going to sell it at an auction. Then a few days later Ben found out Griffins family was moving away in a week because they couldn’t pay their house payment. So Ben and Griffin decided to try and steal the card back, but every time they tried they got stopped by swindles dog. They were talking about it at school and a girl that is really good with animals over herd them and said she wanted in on the deal so they went to the pawn shop every day and she finally got the dog to obey her. Then found out that he took the card to his house and they tried to break in there. They broke in and found that he had a bigger badder dog than the other dog. He was terrified of the big dog, so they locked it in a room and got the card and left and paid Griffins bill. I feel that this book is a five-star book. If you are a kid that doesn’t really read much it is a short book, and still gives you a like able topic that you like to read. I recommend you invest in this book. Must read!!!!

Swindle book Reveiw Swindle is a adventurous book full of action. After reading every page you just want to read on. Theres never ending excitment all through the book. I think the book could be a little bit longer and more exciting ending. The main character is Griffin, the man with the plan he decides to make a team of kids to get a million dollar baseball card back. Includes a rock climber, pet owner, nd tech geek. All of them will try to excute te complicated plan. Griffin is the smart one who comes up with all the plans. The pet owner is the girl who has alot of experience with animals. Tech geek is the girl who is great with technology. My opinion of this book is good. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes funny but exciting story plots, which makes it intense. Swindle is the book to read it is great!

When I picked up "Swindle", I couldn't put it back down. I enjoyed this book very much because of all the non-stop action throughout it. Griffin Bing plans a sleepover in an old house that's about to be demolished and turned into a museum. While exploring the house, he finds a baseball card. He thinks it may be worth something, so he takes it to a local collectibles shop to be appraised. The owner of the shop, Swindle, tells Griffin that it's only a reproduction and not worth much. Griffin figures it's an expert's opinion, so he sells the card for $120. Soon after, Griffin sees that Swindle is being interviewed by the newspaper for "finding" a very rare baseball card, which is actually worth $1,000,000. Now Griffin wants his card back, so he gathers a team of helpful friends, and they make a plan to get it back. The ending is surprising, and also entertaining. This was a very good book, and I would recommend it to all ages.

I Loved this book. It had a lot suspense, action and some parts where it just left me hanging. This book is great I recommend parents having their children read this book. It would be good for the whole family. Also it would be a great read aloud book to a class or family/friends. This would make a great gift. This book will have readers wanting to keep reading even more. Again, Love it.

This is an amazing, action-packed book. The characters are intriguing and each has their own personalities. Griffin and his friends are just regular people trying to make their way in the adult world. They also have an enemy named Darren Vader who forcibly joins their team and ends up sabotaging them. In this book, the team has to work together and be extremely intelligent in order to snag the card.It is the stuff of inspiration how they manage to out-swindle the swindler. This book is also a good lesson of morals. Although to take things into your own hands like Griffin and his friends do is not a smart idea in the world, any kid old enough to read this book will know that and instead will internalize it to create a powerful image of themselves and a good sense of right and wrong. What Swindle did was wrong, and Griffin is not about to get swindled. Of all the kids I’ve spoken to who’ve read Swindle, I’ve never met a single one who didn’t like it. All of them, in fact, spoke about it glowingly. This book is something even “reluctant readers” will like, and will probably get them wanting to read more. I highly recommend this book.
