Swing [Original Soundtrack]

SWING, the soundtrack to pop soulstress Lisa Stansfield's feature film acting debut, more than lives up to its title's promise. These 15 cuts - - tasty jazz and cabaret standards enhanced by four very polished Stansfield-penned tunes - - showcase the Manchester, England R&B singer stepping out in a variety of flattering settings. The sexy chanteuse simmers on steamy, big band arrangements of the Four Tops' "Baby I Need Your Lovin'," Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet to Come," and the Gershwins' "Our Love Is Here to Stay." Then she turns the heat all the way up on Louis Jordan's fowl-play charade "Ain't Nobody Here but Us Chickens," Kurt Weill's imperishable "Mack the Knife" and her own turbocharged "Why Do We Call It Love," a highlight of this finger-snapping set.
