395 nook pages. Seems this book takes place in like the 15th century, on an alternate earth. This young man turns 16 in a locked room doing homework. Thats when his magical powers thrust him in an adventure of a lifetime. He finds out, being a hero is in his blood and much, much more. Pretty well written, and easy to follow and be drawn into. Definintly looking forward to reading the continuing adventures of Anders

Read the book in 2 days. The store fit really well togather and I can see teenagers reading this book and relating to some parts in the store.. for those who like a good fantasy pick this book up.

The book is enjoyable, and very easy to read. It is however, very much incomplete, as a book. It's supposed to be Book 1 in a trilogy. This is not a trilogy, this is just a long book broken into 3 parts. Here is the dictionary definition of a Trilogy: "a series or group of three plays, novels, operas, etc., that, although individually complete, are closely related in theme, sequence, or the like. " This book just ends, without any type of story conclusion what so ever. The 3rd book, as far as I can find doesn't even have an estimated release date. I personally don't care for this type of publishing, where you need to wait for the next chapters finally to be released. At least when serial writing was the norm in magazines, back in the day, the next chapter was forthcoming in the next regularly scheduled issue. Not so in this case. The book is really just the opening chapters in a larger story, with apparently an undetermined wait until the final chapters are released.

If you liked Harry Potter, or any of the epic search for adulthood in a science fiction format, you will certainly like this one. Full of drama, action, adolescent angst, it keeps moving and holds your interest well. This should be a very interesting series and I look forward to the rest of the books.

This is one of the greatest fantasy books I have ever read and I HIGHLY reccomend to all fantasy, magic and dragon lovers out there. 13+ for a little bit of language, nothing too bad.

This book has several issues! 1- There is very little character development, almost none. 2- This is really one book that is being passed off as a series. The book just stops! There is no ending, it just stops mid story. 3- It has been three years since the second book was published and as far as I can tell, there is no known release date for the final book.

I see this as a teen read. It took a little getting into it before I really got interested. There is so much repeated lines that it's distracting.  I didn't like the way the book ended. There were too many questions unanswered. It didn't hold my interest enough to want to read the next in the series, but I would read it just to get the answers.

A very good book. Very refreshing and great fast read for any age. My only regret was that it read too fast.

This book was truly amazing. No i did not find any profanity in it. There are no adult situations. This story moved realy fast. It was confusing at the begining with the portal opening and then the dude he has known for a while turns bad and how did rhe chick know he had kelik blood. Also how would they know that he had 3 different blood lines. Thats all.

Highly unexpected at times. I wish I could give a spoiler, but i'd never hear the end of it. It is taking so much to not spoil the entire story. This is among the best stories i have ever read. (I have read hundreds of books)

New author good storyteller. I never tire of light against dark.magic ,good over evil. I agree I would like a long story and no so many trilogies, series or chronicles. That said it is nice only few bucks on a book instead of 10-20$ . I love the pull from book to book.. you judge

Enjoyed this will probably read the second book, but then I'll have to wait for the third, so maybe not. Getting tired of everything being a trilogy. What's wrong with just writing one book, start to finish, that covers the whole story? Oh yeah, I forgot, greed

There's no real "closure" at the end......

Different but familiar. Fairies, wizards, demons, spells, curses and magic in a strange world where people see with a third eye and hear with a third ear. Great read.

Sword Bearer is about a (just) sixteen-year-old boy who has been over-protected by his parents for unknown reasons all his life. There is magic in the land, but you are not sure if Anders will be trained to use that, or his sword arm. To be honest, neither seems a possibility when you start the book. However, things happen, and new characters appear. Characters that have a massive impact on Anders and what he knows and believes. With knowledge that he doesn't know he has until he needs it, plus the ability to 'sing' magic, plus animals of the 'dark side' acknowledging him, there is more to Anders than meets the eye. Anders shows perfectly the inconsistency of teenagers - one moment he is accepting of his fate, and the next bemoaning it. He falls instantly in love/lust with Kara, who is with Kalle. With new breeds of magic character, plus the use of German words as words of power/command, Sword Bearer has a lot to offer if you are after a light read. What it doesn't offer, mind you, are any DRAGONS! I know this is book 1, but you would think, with a series title like that, that you would see at least one! Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow, this is a fantasy recommended for light reading. It was good and I enjoyed it.
