Overview

System

Superstar Seal returns to his roots in beat-heavy dance music with System. Fans of such groundbreaking tracks as "Killer" and "Crazy" will be salivating over the long-awaited release, which pairs the vocalist with producer Stuart Price, who oversaw Madonna's electrifying Confessions on a Dance Floor, and whose dance-music bonafides go back to underground hits he recorded as Les Rhythmes Digitales and Jacques LuCont. Together, the intercontinental pair piece together a primarily up-tempo record, as evidenced from the single "Amazing." Fans of Seal's crooner side need not despair, however, as he's penned two tracks reflective of his domestic bliss with model Heidi Klum -- "Wedding Day" and "Rolling." Four years since his last hit album, Seal's got his System down to a science.

Seal's back and better than ever. He's mostly traded in the triteness of unnecessarily confusing lyrics for from-the-heart stories of love and recovery. His sound is as anthemic as ever, and his lyrics have never been more poignant or inspiring as now--only this time he has the sonic pulse of Stuart Price to "amp" his message as he vibes his way back into the hearts of older fans and inevitably into the souls of new alike. Entrancing, inspiring, feverish and fun --bright, happy, and melodious--sophisticated and sugary... With a voice that has become more soulful with age and a sound that is still youthful and dancefloor fresh, these are all apt words to describe this gem of an album!

I think this is a departure...yes. I am not a techno-dance music fan, but find this CD very enjoyable. The kind of music that fits like a pair of new shoes that take a while to get comfortable. I think that 'Human Being" was his most critically successful album...'Seal' the most commercially successful. The music is more modern here where the lyrics are more poignant. I think it is better to say what songs are bad on this CD than which ones are good. Never put your wife on a song again, I't embarrasing...

I hate to say this because I'm a huge Seal fan, and usually anything he does is alright with me, but "System" is my least favorite album in his line up. Instead of creating his usual emotionally charged charged and eventful pieces, Seal settles for dance floor muck. I give him full credit on taking a step out of his comfort zone and trying something somewhat new, but the new album just dosen't grab me enough to allow me to stay a listen. Granted it's a peppy, upbeat, new aged disco flavored set of songs, but it doesn't feel like him just yet. I don't feel it's his strongest effort, but you can't make hits all the time. I'm glad that he took some chances here though.

I just heard a preview copy of the album and its really really great. I normally don't write reviews but I had too as I feel that he is so underrated. "The Right Life" is an amazing song. I actually think this should have been his first single.

I've been a fan of Seal's since his first album and I must say, the System is one of his best, especially "Amazing" and "Dumb." I hope to see several versions of both songs in separate albums one of these days.

As the title the first single 'Amazing' . Seal, a pioneering vocalist and Stuart Price a cutting edge producer make this album Immaculate.
