Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
K-Gr 4-This addition to the already wide spectrum of alphabet books highlights the people, objects, and activities found in school. Simple rhymes appear on each full-page entry or spread. For example: "Librarians-a super L./In `matchmaking' they're leading./They find great books for everyone/and keep the whole school reading!" More detailed descriptions are also included for more advanced readers, offering historical and background information. For example, readers will learn what the different colors in the American flag (F) represent, as well as the various elements of color and design taught in an art class (I for illustration). The authors include an impressive list of sources. Some trivia is offered at the back of the book. Average-quality, pen-and-ink and watercolor artwork is filled with interesting details about life related to school in the United States. A serviceable and purposeful addition.-Corrina Austin, Locke's Public School, St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
