Overview

I am not okay.

Fifteen months ago, my life was turned upside down when the plane I was piloting went down. Injured and trapped in the wreckage, I had to watch my fiancée die a painfully slow death, which is something that can really mess with your head.

Since that day, I've had little desire to do much of anything. Except play hockey, that is. Because that is the one place where the bad memories are banished and I can escape my pain.

But off the ice, I'm spiraling out of control. Losing the grip on my life and putting myself and my career in danger. Now, thanks to a string of bad decisions, I've been ordered to complete therapy in order to stay on the team.

The problem? Nora Wayne, my beautiful and somewhat unconventional therapist. I can't buy into the brand of happy clappy crap this woman is feeding me. What could she possibly understand about the type of loss that I've suffered? How does she know anything about finding happiness after losing the most important person in your life?

Turns out, I've got a lot to learn, and she's just the person I need to break through those walls I've erected.

I am not okay.
But for the first time in a long time, I know that I will be.

5 star Review Tacker (Arizona Vengeance #5) by Sawyer Bennett I knew going into reading Tacker that this was going to be an emotional roller coaster of a story and Sawyer Bennett did not disappoint. I was absolutely hooked on this book from the first to the last chapter and couldn’t put it down. I have been waiting for Tacker’s story since he was first introduced in the Arizona Vengeance series and I knew that the woman who he would eventually open up and fall in love with would need to be someone very special; Nora Wayne is certainly that woman. The emotions that were pulled from me as I read this book had me in tears at times. My heart just about broke for Tacker and all that he he has been through, his pain and guilt was palpable. The chemistry between Tacker and Nora is off the charts and I loved the banter and humour that flowed as well. I also loved the dynamic between Tacker and the other members of the team, they certainly have one others back. This is a story that will touch you to the very depths of your soul. I have no words to do it justice. All I can say is one click this book and be prepared for one heck of a read….

3.5 stars As I’m sure is the case for all Arizona Vengeance fans, I’ve been looking forward to reading Tacker’s story. And a beautiful story it is. While I felt I knew all the reasons Tacker was closed off, the level of his guilt was different that I had actually expected. It’s not just about him piloting the aircraft that led to his fiancée’s death. Of course, Nora ends up being the perfect person to get him to open up and join the world around him. She’s had her own tragedies and can understand his situation in a way not many can. It also helps Tacker to see that there are worse things that can happen than what happened to him. As Tacker continues to open up, he remembers how much he likes to help others. And as he helps out on Nora’s ranch and they spend time together outside of his therapy sessions, their feelings start to deepen and grow. Which can be problematic for a therapist. The connection Nora and Tacker have is beautiful and actually quite sweet. Their chemistry is great and Nora fits in well with the other hockey girlfriends/wives. Yet, I felt this story wasn’t quite as deep as the others. I can’t lay my finger on any particular reason. There is so much to love about this book. It’s just not quite up to the same level as the previous books in this series. Wonderful, hot, sexy, sweet, fun, and more. So still an extremely good book worth the read. My standards are just super high with this author as she has written many of my favorite books.

4 1/2 STARS! An emotional powerhouse! With the fifth book in her beloved Arizona Vengeance series, Sawyer Bennett brings us the most anticipated book yet in the series ... TACKER. For fans of the series, we've been waiting for his story to unfold since the first moment he showed up on the page. A powerful hunk of a man who can do amazing things on the ice, but utterly broken spiritually. Fifteen months ago a man at the highlight of his hockey career and two weeks away from marrying the woman of his dreams was devastated when an airplane crash took the love of his life from him ... and he was the pilot. Tacker has been coasting by on fumes as he tries to pick up his life and keep moving, but the guilt won't let him. He screws up so badly that he's given the choice ... he can either go to therapy and work through his grief in a healthy way, or his career will virtually be over. He never expects the way Nora is going to change his life. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a heart-wrenching, emotional twist to their romance. The story is powerful and though I feel like one aspect of it all was glossed over a little too much, I was whole-heartedly invested in the story and pleased with how it all played out. Loving this series!

I’ve been waiting for Tacker’s story and what a great yet heartbreaking storyline. Two souls with broken pasts, find love again. Tacker and Nora’s chemistry is a slow burn but once ignited it burns hot. Stephen Dexter and Lucy Rivers’s narration is excellent and brought an added element to this story. It’s a definite must read/listen.

I have been waiting for Tacker's story since the Arizona Vengance series began. Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint. Not only has she carried his story from the beginning of this series, by intricately weaving it throughout each book, so you're dying to know his side of his story, she creates a magnificent stand alone that grabs a hold of your heart and does not let go. This book was perfect. I laughed, I cried, I felt every emotion imaginable. I loved the combustible chemistry and I seriously was sad to see it end. Though, now I'm intrigued as to what will happen next for the Arizona Vengeance. PS - Stephen Dexter and Lucy Rivers are a great addition to Sawyer Bennett's story. I enjoyed the audio version as well.

I can’t believe we are already at book #5 in this series and every book has been brilliant. I just adore a sports romance and Sawyer Bennett knows her hockey men! If you have been following the series, you will know little snippets of Tacker’s story. He was flying a plane that had equipment failure and consequently crashed causing a fatality, Tacker’s fiancé Mary Jane. He has been in a downward spiral for the last 15 months and it’s plain as day from the cover of this novel. It’s hard to think that anything could pull Tacker back from the brink, especially after his car accident but when you meet Nora, you will understand why she works miracles. She is not only the horse whisperer but she has a way with dealing and healing humans as well. She has the gentlest demeanor and compassion that can only come from experience. But don’t mistake her kindest as a her only winning trait, she is also a strong and confident business woman. And as much as I loved her, because I did, I adored Tacker more. I had been waiting impatiently to know more about him and needed to know that he finds happiness again. He may have come across as gruff in the previous books, but Tacker is one of the most loyal and generous men Sawyer has written. Because of his personality, I feel it’s why he is in so much turmoil over MJ’s death. His recovery through therapy is tough and takes him through all the emotions which I felt along with him. The story plays out well. We get to know all the details of what happened that fateful day and we also learn so much about Nora as well. Their joint experiences and loss only strengthens their bond. The way they both connect with each other is a delight and we see the softer side of Tacker appear. There is no epilogue as such in the book, but it ends in a good place. You can sign up for a bonus scene, which I feel is the complete conclusion.

The latest Arizona Vengeance hockey book was the journey of heartbreak and redemption, fear and guilt, and the love that brings it all around. Tacker was such a sorrowful character, sad, depressed and overwhelmed with guilt. Nora starts as his therapist, but this relationship bloomed with the trust that these two characters were able to give each other. It was sweet and romantic. Loved visiting all the Arizona Vengeance team members and significant others. Although this book is definitely a standalone, I think the overall book is enhanced when read with the rest of the teams’ stories.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the Arizona Vengeance series so far, appreciating the diversity of each characters story. But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t on tenterhooks awaiting Tacker Hall’s. As we’ve learnt previously, Tacker lost his beloved fiancé, MJ, in a plane crash that he was piloting. They were heading for a final wedding dress fitting, with the wedding being only 2 weeks away. He was a captive audience to her passing, and had been consumed with guilt over her death, which set him on a path of self destruction. Fortunately, his reputation preceded him, and his team mates, along with the team management, were full of support as they snatched him from his despair. The management imposed mandatory therapy, alongside an alcohol ban. Whilst his team mates and their significant others, made sure he was busy running adhoc errands. It was the teams owner, Dominik Carlson, who had read about horse therapy offered at Sherim Ranch, and put Tacker in touch. The rest of the story is a beautiful discovery of shared tragedies between Tacker and the Ranch’s owner, Nora Wayne. I am constantly entertained by Sawyer’s writing pliancy, where she easily transitions between anguish and amusement. This was a journey of discovery, changing the uncertain to the unshaken. A beautiful thing. Complimentary copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review

4.5 stars So many feels for Tacker by Sawyer Bennett! It's beautifully written, the storyline held my interest from start to end and my heart broke for both Tacker and Nora. Watching the pain and guilt Tacker was going through was gut wrenching. He was a broken man who had lost his way after losing his fiancee in a horrible plane accident :( Not happy at being forced into therapy by his Hockey Management Tacker finds himself slowly opening up to Nora. Nora has a beautiful and caring heart that has been through her own demons and totally the perfect person to help Tacker. These two souls were meant for each other, together they were able to find peace, comfort and a love that will last a lifetime. This is one of those books once you start reading you won't be able to put it down. I loved everything about it, truly a beautiful heartfelt romance. Tacker and Nora are perfect together! Tacker is an excellent addition to the Arizona Vengeance series, each book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend them all.

After purposely getting drunk and driving himself into a concrete barrier, Tacker is given an ultimatum. He has to attend counseling, pay a fine, and not drink alcohol or he’s off the team. Not sure he can ever make himself whole again, Tacker waivers on whether to accept the offer. In the end, it’s his teammates and his love of hockey that push him into a decision that will forever change his life. Nora has suffered greatly as a child, teen. But she was adopted by a loving woman who loved her enough to help her overcome the evil she experienced. Nora’s outlook on life was nothing short of remarkable. She lived to help others, while being an exceptional listener. When a broken Tacker shows up at her ranch, she KNOWS she can help him, but only if he’ll let her. Shared experiences finally allow Tacker to “see” things differently. Now it’s up to him to mend broken fences so he can live a happy life. Powerful. Cathartic. Emotional. Moving. Loving. Real. There aren’t enough words to express how Awesomely wonderful this novel is! A truly remarkable story. Sawyer Bennett could not have written Tacker and Nora’s story any more perfectly....except to indulge us with MORE Tacker and Nora! Tacker’s self destructive behavior made me want to reach into my ebook and shake him! He was so broken and devastated that he pushed away the people who meant the most to him. Nora’s ability to SEE Tacker and get him to open up about his feelings, was awe-inspiring. I loved how Nora wasn’t jealous of MJ and her memories. I laughed, cried, and cried some more. I highly recommend this novel! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

Tacker's story is one I've been dreading and craving in equal measure since we first met his character and heard a little of his backstory. Dreading because I knew it would put my heart through the wringer and craving because I knew it would be one I wouldn't forget. The author did not disappoint!! You can feel the passion that Tacker exudes and getting to know him and seeing that passion flicker back to life was a beautiful journey. Then there is Nora. Brave, beautiful, tough as nails Nora. She's experienced things that no human ever should but she doesn't let that stop her. She lives life fully and wants to help others do the same. She is just what/who Tacker needs to crawl from the darkness. The author did an incredible job with this story and the characters in it. You will most definitely cry, but you'll also laugh, swoon, and jump for joy and Tacker finds his way. An absolute must read!!

Heartwarmingly beautiful. So it takes a very talented author to have this book live up to your expectations. For those of us who have been with the Vengeance from the beginning - we've been dying for Tacker's story. He is such a tortured soul that you desperately want him to find his happily ever after. Nora is wonderful. Her past is just as tragic (really even more so) than his and their bond is true! Watching Tacker grow and the way Nora seamlessly gets him there - it was such a sight to see. Although I expected to bawl throughout this story - it was just so beautiful and full of depth that I just became engrossed in the story. The interactions with his teammates, Dominick's continued pursuit of Willow, Tacker's realization that life really does go on. All of it was beautiful, wonderful, and full of love. This book had a LOT to live up to and it went so far beyond my expectations. Absolutely loved it and probably my favorite of this series!! What a beautiful couple together and Raul was an extra special treat. I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

I've been waiting for Tacker's story since this series started and I will have to tell you that although it wasn't quite what I was expecting, it was still worth the wait! This story is filled with many emotions - heartbreak, anger, sadness, grief, hope, joy and finally love and peace. It was a great journey and I totally loved the match for Tacker - it was just perfect. This book might make you shed a few tears but it was a beautiful journey and well worth it. Don't hesitate to pick this one up!

I waited a really long time for this book. Bennett took the storyline in a bit of an unexpected direction. I highly suggest that readers pick up the previous books in this series. This can be read as a stand-alone, however the glimpses into Tacker’s story makes all of the difference in this book. Seeing the interactions change within the story compared to other books in this series makes the difference. Can’t wait until January to see what Sawyer comes up with next!

This is Book 5 in the "Arizona Vengeance" Series and it is about Tacker and Nora. I wanted to read Tacker's story since the first time I read about him because I knew I would love his path to healing and be able to love again. Tacker has experienced tragedy and he fees such a strong guilt that he isolated from the world and he only feels when he plays. Nora is a wondeful character who also suffered a tremendous lost and she was able to overcome all that pain and move on. She will be the one to show Tacker that there is a chance of being happy again even when you feel it will never happan or you don't deseve it. Of course, while reading about Tacker and Nora we enjoy the characters from the previous stories that enrich even more the story. Wonderful read! Highly enjoyable!

4.5☆ I've been waiting for Tacker for what feels like forever and Sawyer did not let me down. Tacker was a wonderful book filled with so much emotion. Tacker's tragic past has turned him into a cold and distant man. He has a lot of demons that he needs to face to get back to the man he used to be. I've always felt for Tacker and wanted to know more about him and see him get to a place where he can be happy, and I got that in this book. He goes on a journey to find his old self with the help of Nora. Nora is a total sweetheart who has overcome obstacles I can't even begin to imagine having to face. She's been through so much yet she still somehow sees the good in everything and everyone. She knows just what Tacker needs and when. They form such a strong bond over their pasts and it just grows from there. They're unbelievably cute and definitely made for one another. I loved seeing how they progressed in their relationship as time went on. I didn't want the book to end, I just wanted it to keep going and get more of Nora and Tacker.

I knew Tacker's story was going to be a rough one with a glimpse of his past in the other Vengeance books. I could not wait for it and loved every word. Tacker Hall is a very good hockey player, a first-line member for the Arizona Vengeance. But his past is taking him down fast. So when he runs his truck into a barrier outside of the arena, he is put on probation and mandatory therapy. The first therapist was not helpful, Tacker was done before the first visit was even over. When he told the team owner that, Dominik Carlson sends him to Nora Wayne. Nora is a therapist and owns a ranch where she helps lots of people with all sorts of problems and she even gives horse riding lessons. When she meets Tacker she doesn't think she can help him. But in order to help him, she must share her past tragedy. Can Tacker learn to open up to Nora? Will he be able to live again? Can Nora help Tacker learn to live and move past the guilt he is feeling? Will they be able to act on the feeling between them? This is a story that will rip your heart out and have you crying for the past pain of both characters. But author Sawyer Bennett will put your heart back together and leave you smiling in the end. If you haven't read anything from this author yet, I recommend this series. But you can start with any of her books, you will not be disappointed. **I received a free copy of this book to read and review and this is my honest opinion**

Great addition to the series but a little maudlin at times, otherwise it would have been 5 stars.

Perfection they name is Tacker. Honestly I'm thrown for a loop at what a masterpiece this beautiful story was. I just am struggling to put into words at how monumental it was.... Sawyer has written a story that epitomizes who Tacker is and what defines him. I went into this story not really knowing what to think. Prepared for emotions but I was so overwhelmed whilst reading...due to tears and some laughs, I can honestly say this is the authors best work to date. The support network Tacker has is amazing and not knowing how things would go for him, I'm incredibly happy after reading this story. Nora is absolutely amazing at her job and the way she is with people! I really admired both of them so much! This is a story that will stay in my mind forever, of that I have no doubt and I truly believe this book is perfection. I am feeling rather emotional and fell in love with the whole book. This is a book that just has to be read! It should definitely be high on your TBR list for sure. A perfect addition to an incredible series. #Tacker&NoraForever!

This is such a highly anticipated release. I have been dying to hear Tacker's story since he was first introduced in Bishop. So was it worth the wait? Abso-freaking-lutely. Chapter 12 will gut you. Just be prepared. Have the hankies ready and be in a place where you can ugly cry. But I also found myself seeing Tacker in a whole new light. For someone who was closed off from the world, he is such a very caring and compassionate person. There is one additional scene in the book that got to me and made me tear up a little. You'll know it when you read it. And I hope you have the same feelings I did. Now I can't wait for Dominik. Another highly anticipated release. These hockey players are the BEST.

OMG I knew that once we got Tacker's story it would be amazing and heartbreaking and it was that and so much more. Between his heartbreak and redemption we also get to meet the amazing Nora who heals him and most importantly allows him to love again. If you have read the first 4 books in the Arizona Vengeance you have some insight on Tacker and his history. Lost his fiance in a horrific plane crash one that he blames himself for he has only found solace on the ice. After a series of events he is given an ultimatum get help or never play hockey again. It's with that allows Nora to enter his life. I don't want to give away any more than that but know that Sawyer Bennett takes the reader on amazing journey that in some cases lead me to tears. Tacker is worth the effort to find and devour you won't be disappointed.

I’ve been looking forward to Tacker’s story for quite a while and I was not disappointed. I anticipated that this one was going to be an emotional read and and it certainly was. Tacker just really gets under your skin and his journey was lovely to follow. Nora was simply perfect for him and they had great chemistry. Whilst Tacker’s journey was really emotional, the Arizona Vengeance first line were there to break the tension and bring some real humour to the story. Overall a really enjoyable read. Bring on Dominik’s story which is coming up next! I was provided with a copy of this book from the Publisher; there was no inducement or obligation and I opted to leave a review.

Oh Tacker, how we all hurt for you, the brokenness of you has been there from the beginning of the series. Readers, be prepared for the hard parts because Sawyer didn't pull any punches. The only way Tacker can move on is to take the steps necessary to heal and that seems insurmountable when you know he watched his fiance die slowly and couldn't do anything. First, overcoming the guilt and then realizing he's allowed to be happy. Nora Wagner is an unconventional therapist and looks to be exactly what Tacker needs. She has an equine therapy ranch, but not everyone needs the horses to be able to open up. Some need the honesty and shared experiences to prove that life does in deed move on. Because more than hockey is needed for Tacker to get back to himself and find peace. And Nora becomes the motivation for making the changes and letting feelings other than anger become the new normal.

Am really enjoying the books by this author. Her stories are so believable from start to finish. The fellings the characters have are realistic.
