Sam Free is a detective at the 44th precinct or otherwise he is NYPD.  His partner is 18 months from retirement. Between Sam’s being an honest cop and his son’s trouble at school (being bullied), he makes choices that cause him to be brought up on charges for murder.  Most of his collegaes are not willing to help him clear his name. Will his partner ever help him?  Will the DA that asked him to plant evidence get caught?  Will Sam clear his name?  Will his son ever stop being bullied?  How does his wife hold up under all of this? These are all questions you can answer by reading this novel.  The story plot took a long time to set up so it’s not a quick read.  And you need to pay attention to who’s who and who’s doing what to whom.

Given To Me For An Honest Review Taconic Murda: A Sam Free Novel by Uriel E. Gribetz is not at all what I thought it would be. I tried to get into it and couldn't.  I felt that it was mediocre to say the least.  Once I got to the word "retarded", I couldn't do anymore.  That word is not one I enjoy hearing, listening to  or reading.  I was disappointed.

The is the first book I have read that did not have single likeable character in it. It is a good story, but a little short and padded by detailed descriptions of the route of travel for every trip made by Sam Free, the protagonist. The style of writing is more akin to a documentary than a novel. It has enough good to be readable, but could have been so much more.

Deception vs honor - hate vs love. This book has it all!
