Right from the start I want to let you know that this book is not a standalone and is a part of a trilogy. With that being said the entire trilogy is already out so I definitely don't want that to prevent you from reading it because this is definitely a must read! I felt so many emotions while reading this book and honestly I felt at times that I was watching a Lifetime movie, but a really good one that you can't stop watching, because it felt like everything that was happening was so crazy that it couldn't really happen but it could, if that makes any sense at all. From what I understand this series is actually based on real events and there is a little back story at the end of the third book. That alone makes me want to finish the series because I need to know what happens and how it ends it also helps that I truly enjoy reading the book. I wouldn't normally put dark romance novels at the top of my list but with this book I can't not put it there. Since this only the first in the trilogy that I have read, I truly don't know how it ends but I will always hope for a HEA. Either way I must recommend this series! Read it now! And since the other two have already been released, read them too! ~~I received this in exchange for an honest review~~ This book had me trapped in its grasp and it never let me go. Not even at the end of the book. It just held me harder. Sarah writes with a fiery passion that I have never read before. This book is mind blowing. The lengths that a person would take to get to someone. I couldn't put this book down at all. It had me sucked in. You will be disappointed if you do not read this book.

Favorite Quotes: “Kate had never been the graceful type. She had always wanted to be and tried her hardest but somehow she was still known for tripping over flat sidewalks, walking into parked cars, and subjecting herself to whatever other type of embarrassment came her way.” “She had never really thought of him as a criminal but rather as her personal attacker, almost as if he belonged to her and no one else.” My Review: The beginning of an intriguing and heartbreaking story.

Kate is a regular young woman with dreams for a future helping others. Thanks to Uncle Lenny she currently has a job in the sales department of his office furniture company. No jobs were available after she graduated from college and let's face it the bills have to be paid. A chance encounter with an assertive and cocky lawyer, leads them to a romance that changes both their lives. Kate's past still haunts her to this day. Her sister Annie and Uncle Lenny are the only two left of what she calls her family. Now that Derrick is in the picture, can she hope for a brighter future at his side? All of this is changed one night by The Photographer. The horrors she experiences not many of us could survive. Masterfully written and depicting a realism that will bring these events to your mind in full technicolor, this first installment of the trilogy deals with horrors of rape and a brutal attack by a serial killer. This is not for readers with a faint heart. Kate is endearing and what she experiences is what every woman fears most.

I loved this book. When I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. The story that builds with Kate and Derrick is awesome. And its great how they both have stories behind them that they are both afraid to share. I was shocked by the major event that happens. I sat on the edge of my seat the whole time afterwards! Great Read! DestinyW

wow this book total sucked me in - I only meant to read one chapter before bed - suddenly I have the whole book at its 3am Kate smart and sassy woman with a great sense of humour one. Despite her degree in Phycology she is work in a future store owed by 'Uncle Lenny" her father's best friend. The only Family Kate has is her younger sister Anne, their mother left them when they were young causing their father to become an alcoholic which eventually killed him. One day before work she is grabbing her favourite coffee when she meets Derrick and they make an instant connection and soon begin dating. Both how ever keep secrets from their past to themselves - secrets which could break them apart. Then one night after returning from a weekend away Kate is attacked and raped in her apartment. Will she be able to cope with what has happened to her and will Derrick. I have already started on the next book Tainted Picture and loving so far. Back off to read more

Stars 4.5 Tainted Bodies (The Photographer Trilogy #1) If you are looking for a sweet romance this is not for you. This book contains suspense, broken characters, and will most likely have you hating Derrick. If that is not enough for you then the cliff hanger will take care of making you even madder. Don't worry book 2 is already out

Sarah Robinson’s Tainted Bodies is a Crime Romance, a dark and heavy read that I could not bring myself to put down. Romance, past traumas, sisterhood, secrets, betrayals and a horrific crime that occurs now—it doesn't seem like it would all fit together into a book that would leave ME wanting more. But it worked together flawlessly. It was real, raw and gritty—full of secrets, lies, mysteries and evasions which lead you up to a cliffhanger and breathlessly waiting for the second book in this series. Yet it also had another side to the book—the budding of a new relationship between Kate and Derrick, the close bond between sisters and the incredible chemistry between Kate and Derrick. One of the things I liked the most about Sarah’s writing was how utterly flawed and imperfect her characters were. Where usually we all dream about the knight in shining armor who swoops in and saves the day…let’s be honest we don’t see it every day. Derrick has flashes of the charming, dreamy, handsome, romantic man of our dreams and then there is that slightly mysterious, secretive commitment phobe side. Kate is dissatisfied at her job, yet is still there accepting promotions, all the while wishing and dreaming about something different. She is incredibly strong yet at the same time still broken inside. When she meets Derrick, their instantaneous connection starts off a relationship that truly excites Kate. However they are not exactly in the same page. I have to be honest that Sarah made me rethink how I rate books! Usually I reserve 5 Stars for books that I want to read over and over again. I can’t be certain that I want to curl up with Tainted Bodies again because the material is so heavy, intense and realistic (though I am not ruling it out!), but this book was so brilliantly written and has not left me since I swiped that last page that to give it anything less would be a gross injustice. I received a complimentary copy of Tainted Bodies from the author in exchange for my honest review.

4.5 stars! I absolutely loved this book! It was so different than what I’ve been reading lately. Normally, I’m quite hesitant to touch suspense/crime novels because they can be so hit or miss for me. However, I am beyond happy that I read this one because Sarah hit the nail on the head! It was so eloquently written and I was hooked right from that prologue! The characters were so realistic. I often felt like I was watching a friend’s life unfold, rather than reading about characters in a book. Kate was so honest in her feelings and emotions. She is such a strong, resilient character who has endured more than any one person should in his/her life. Somehow though, she keeps trekking through her life and it’s truly admirable. She may keep things bottled up, but that just made her that much more genuine because really, who bares all their demons? I especially loved the bond she had with her sister. It’s a subplot to the book, but I could relate to that so strongly being that I’m incredibly close to my sister. I like when books aren’t all about one thing, but instead give us several themes and Sarah does this with the strong sisterhood thread. As for Derrick, our leading man, he was such a complex character. Since I knew Tainted Bodies was in the suspense genre, I was SO skeptical of him. Then Sarah made me start to really like him because of his sweetness and honesty. Did I always like what he had to say? Of course not, and I hated that he kept his secrets, but THAT is what him more human. That is what brought this character to life for me. I wanted to kick him after the hospital scene, but there was also this mysterious aura around him so I knew he had his reasons. Derrick is written in just a way that you want to not like him at times, but you just can’t help it! There was one scene where there is talk of a dissociative state and I got a little confused. I felt like the thought behind it really worked, but sometimes it just got hard to tell who was speaking in a way. There were also a few grammatical errors, but nothing glaring that detracted from the wonderful plot of this book. It will leave you guessing and trying to figure out who did what! It definitely created a complex in me where I felt like I couldn’t trust any character, but in the best way possible! This is one of those books that is extremely difficult to put down where you have to keep reading just to figure out how it ends. There is difficult subject matter, though not in extreme graphic detail, so that is a warning for reader’s to heed. Also, Tainted Bodies does end in a cliffhanger, so be prepared to really want the second book!

A touching romance novel with a twist of mystery. I enjoyed getting to know both Kate and Derrick as they fell in love with each other. They both have a past, one that they intend to keep secret for as long as possible. While trying to hold on to what they have, will their past get in the way of their future? When Derrick runs into Kate adding a coffee to her already placed order. It's Kate that's taken off guard, his savvy charm takes her by surprise. Derrick has never met anyone like Kate, her style and her personality holds his interest, for much longer than he had intended. While the coffee house they both frequent in the early mornings turns out to be a ritual in both their lives, they fall under each others spell. It is not until Kate mentions commitment that everything seems to go downhill between the two love birds. Derrick's past comes back to haunt him and the two begin to drift apart. Both holding back secrets but will Kate's past come back to haunt her when she falls victim to a horrifying crime? Will Derrick's moment of weakness be the end...or will their love prevail?

Review for Tainted Bodies 5 Stars. Characters were well rounded everyday people. I loved this. I love the feeling you get when you read a book and you can relate to the characters. In this book we meet Kate Jackson who is working in a furniture store. She seems to have the same morning routine that includes stoping into the corner coffee shop daily on her way to work. One morning she meets Derrick Kane, at the coffee shop, when he uses this cheesey type of pick up skit with her. As the book goes on we learn more about Kate's past and events from her childhood. And all the things she has had to overcome. We also learn why Derrick has commitment issues. Together they help each other figure things out. But before they can get to that point certain tramatizing events happen. While these events take place I found myself wanting to slap Kate for choices she made. (Over time she fixes those choices.) And Derrick left me wanting to karate chop him in the throat for walking out in her time of need. When the end came I was shocked. I was left wanting more. Needing more. I want answers. I can't wait until the next book comes out. Hopefully some of those answer will be in that book and I won't have to completely wait for book three. The suspense of who did this is eating me alive!

Kate goes aimlessly through life until the day she meets a cheeky guy in a coffee shop. Derrick makes her happy but he avoids adding any labels to the relationship. Kate presses him for more than simply being called 'A friend' some time into their relationship but just as Derrick agrees... Something terrible happens to Kate. Can Derrick push past it? or more importantly can Kate find the strength to heal from such a vicious attack? Loved this book & it's plot. It begins slow but then it picks up & before you know it, it's over leaving you wanting more. I completed in one seating and I'm now waiting (not patiently) for the next in this trilogy. PS. This is a Crime/Romance story
