His smoldering, intense attraction to his girlfriend’s younger sister. He’s always kept his feelings locked deeply down. But when his girlfriend betrays him the night before he ships off to Afghanistan, Bram has one chance to show the woman he’s resisted for years that he wants her as fiercely as the first day he saw her.

Rick Sullivan liked the scent of blood.

And the taste, too.

His mouth was full of it and he only spit it out to intimidate his opponent.

Let him see how much he liked bleeding ...

Around them, the guards were shouting. They had their hands hooked into the battered fencing that served as a cage for matches. There was money on the table, lots of it, folded around the rungs of the wire while he and the prisoner across from him fought.

One of the guards fired off a shot from his gun at the ground to get them fighting again. Sullivan waited for his opponent to lunge at him before he twisted and brought his fist up into the underside of the man's jaw. There was a crunch and a gurgle as the bone broke and the man went down.

The guards roared. Some with victory and others spouted profanity. Sullivan absorbed it all, taking note of who had won money on him. Information was the real thing he was after, not the scraps the guards would give him for providing them with entertainment.

Still, later that night, he sipped at the tequila he'd won and smiled at the woman between his knees. Mexican jails were shit holes, but that just meant there were loopholes for him to slip through.

Carl Davis and Tyler Martin could bet that Sullivan would be slipping out of the jail they'd left him to rot in. No one double-crossed him. Martin was going to learn that even all of his Secret Service agents wouldn't make a difference. Because when a Sullivan came for you, there were only two choices: make your peace with God or placate the devil.

He enjoyed the idea of seeing Carl Davis beg for his life.

But he fucking loved the thought of killing him.

The party was winding down. At least the first phase was.

Somewhere around ten, the toddlers were sleeping and mothers were gathering up the last of the swim towels. You could feel the vibe changing. The carefree demeanor that had presided during the day was being overshadowed by the darkness and the cravings it somehow granted permission to. The summer weather was perfect for it, negating the need for layers of clothing. As soon as darkness was added, people shifted closer to each other and ventured deeper into the shadows.

Bram Magnus leaned against the house, the stucco still warm from the heat of the day.

Or maybe it was from his temper.

A couple moved further off into the darkness, unaware that he was watching. The way the female looked around before taking a few more steps into the night, it didn't take a genius to deduce what sort of party they were in the mood for. There was a flash of trim thigh as her short dress flipped up with her hurried steps, a sultry sway to her hips that was unmistakable. She leaned in closer to her companion, his fingers tightening around the curve of her hip before he slid his hand further down until he was gripping her thigh beneath that short skirt.

LeAnn let out a husky laugh. Bram recognized it, which pissed him off.

The problem was, he realized he was mad over the fact that he'd always known LeAnn's feelings for him didn't run deeper than lust.

"Jesus ..." A bag of trash hit the concrete but Jaelyn surprised him by controlling the rest of her emotions. Her eyes flashed wide but returned to normal faster than he'd have given her credit for. He'd never pegged her as having much nerve. But she stared back at him, steady as could be.

Impressive ...

"I'm sorry, Bram, I didn't see you."

Jaelyn's voice trailed off as she heard a soft laugh and recognized it as her sister's. Bram watched her face, wanting to know if she knew what her sister was about. Jaelyn turned toward the sound and frowned.

"Your sister is busy," he informed her dryly.

"But you're her boyfriend ... oh, never mind." She bent to pick up the trash bag but only made it halfway there before straightening. "Look ... I'm really —"

"Sorry? Don't be," he said with a shrug. "Better this way."

"I can't see how."

His temper was sizzling, and another soft laugh drifting on the night breeze turned up the heat. "It's simple enough. I'm shipping out at daybreak, and it looks like I'm doing it as a single man. No strings attached."

She started to bite her lip. There was something on the tip of her tongue; he watched her contemplate whether or not to voice it.

"Yeah, that's your MO, isn't it? Always playing it safe."

He knew he was being a dick by saying that. Pushing her away with a cutting remark because ... well, the flat truth was, there was something about her that made him feel less than worthy.

Her eyes narrowed as she sent a harsh look straight at him.

"If you're trying to show a contrast between the way I live my life and the way you show up here whenever you want to feel like you have a relationship ... you're damned right I'm the opposite of what you and LeAnn have been doing," Jaelyn informed him. "For the record, I don't call it playing it safe. I call it having integrity and not using my grandfather's home as a place to get your fix of family love while you invest nothing of yourself."

Direct hit.

Bram felt his lips curving slightly in response. She was kicking his ass and doing a good job of it.

Her eyes narrowed as she took in his grin. She let out a snort and reached for the bag of trash again. "Fine. Hope you and LeAnn are deliriously happy with your ... relationship."

LeAnn and her lover had moved off into the night. Bram found it suited him because Jaelyn was far more interesting.

He wanted a fight and was being an ass. But a flare of hunger entered her eyes, deflating his initial surge of temper. It left him poised on the edge of something volatile, something he felt like he'd known had been simmering inside him but had been ignoring. For all the right reasons, of course, but tonight, there was a boundary missing between them. That knowledge set something loose inside him.

"Your sister seems to have vacated the post of being my girlfriend, so you won't have to worry about seeing me again."

The trash bag dropped once more. Jaelyn faced off with him like she didn't notice that her head barely reached his chin.

"Are you really torn up about ..." She gestured toward where LeAnn had gone. "It's not like you put a ring on her finger."

"Your sister doesn't want a ring weighing her down."

"No shit," Jaelyn retorted.

Bram chuckled.

Jaelyn rolled her eyes. "Right, you think I don't cuss. Know something? I don't give a fig for your opinion. You were using LeAnn as much as she was you. At least I won't have to worry about you showing up and messing with my grandfather. He thinks the world of you, and you're just here to get your fix. Judge me as you will, but I see through you."

He'd been cussed out by the best — seasoned brass and underworld thugs — but there was something about her Lucy Ricardo insults that shamed him.

"You're not a prude after all."

"You've got nerve." She made a scoffing sound and sent him a glare. "Know something? Just because I think sex should be more than physical doesn't make me a prude. My grandparents loved each other. Maybe you've just never seen how amazing that looks, but I have and I'm not settling for"— she was gesturing at him — "for what you're clearly willing to settle for. I am going to find a man who curls my toes and —"

He pushed away from the wall and wrapped his arms around her. He was being presumptuous at the least, a huge prick at the worst, but the flicker of heat in her eyes drew him to her. Maybe it was plain old desperation to cling to the living before he shipped out to a place where life was cheap and easily smashed.

Like hell it was that simple ...

Whatever had broken free inside him was growing, stretching, as it gained freedom. It was hungry and needy, as well as uncontrollable.

Bram trapped her arms at her sides, sliding one hand up her spine to capture her nape before claiming his kiss. He needed to hold her, needed her to feel his strength. A soft gasp got muffled between their lips as he pressed a deep kiss against her mouth. He forgot what his intentions were when the taste of her swept through his brain, knocking his better judgment out cold.

The only thing left was the feel of the woman in his arms. The way her lips moved beneath his, the way her body curved to fit against his, was mind-numbing and exhilarating at the same time. She was warm and soft, and he teased her lips with a sweep of his tongue because he needed to know what she tasted like. The thin, summer dress she wore was nothing but a frail barrier between her hard nipples and himself. He slid his hand around and cupped one breast, feeling its weight, and brushing his thumb over the puckered tip. The soft sound she made snapped him back into focus.

What the fuck was he doing?

He opened his arms, fighting that thing inside him with every ounce of self-discipline he had. All he wanted was to press her against the side of the house and keep pressing until he was deep inside her.

God ... he craved her ...

Jaelyn staggered back a pace, her respiration agitated, her eyes wide.

That was why she tasted so good. She was everything pure, everything his hands were too dirty to touch.

She was waiting ... and he was a damned bastard for touching her when she was pure and he was a hell of a long way from it himself.

"I had no right to do that." But he wanted to do a whole hell of a lot more.

His jeans felt too tight, his cock swollen and demanding. Her taste clung to his lips as he forced himself to walk away before he lost his grip on his discipline.

Before he took what he wanted ...

"Hold it right there, Bram Magnus."

Surprise made him stop. The husky sound of her voice was something he'd never heard before. Or expected to.

But he liked it. Liked it a hell of a lot.

He turned to face her and felt his arousal spike when he found her standing only a pace from him. There wasn't a hint of outrage on her face, only a glimmer of something in her eyes which promised him hell.

He liked the look of that, too.

"Kisses ..." She closed the gap between them, captivating him with the way her hips swayed. She stepped up to him and settled her hands on his chest. " ... aren't meant to be one-sided."

She stroked him, moving her hands up and over his collarbones to his neck. It was slow, so damn slow he wasn't sure he could remain still but it was worth the effort. Her touch sent shivers down his spine, the kind he hadn't felt since he'd been a raw youth in the troughs of his first love.

Back when he'd believed in love, that was.

She believed in love, though. He saw it glittering in her eyes, and it threatened to buckle his knees.

"Always shared, Bram ... it's called ... making love."

When her hand reached his head she rose onto her toes to complete the kiss but he was still too tall. She gently pulled on his neck and he had no problem complying with her demand.

Shit, he could take orders from her all night so long as she was touching him.

This time their kiss was sweeter but not because it was slower. It was in the way she explored his mouth, teasing him with soft pressure while tracing his lower lip with the tip of her tongue before thrusting shyly inside. That was his undoing. He wrapped his arms around her and captured her neck so he could turn her head to suit his desire. The kiss became hard and blistering hot. Control vanished as he fit her against him, pushing her back into the shadows and against the warm stucco of the house. He ravished her mouth with his lips and tongue. She moaned, the little sound pushing him further over the edge as she arched up against him, pressing against his cock and trembling when she felt the hard proof of his desire.

He pulled his head back, stroking her back as he detected the ripple of reaction. Her eyes were wide, her lips open as she panted.

"I shouldn't have started this," he said.

"Well, I've decided to finish it." She surprised him with how determined her tone was. Her fingers fisted into his shirt, pulling a handful of his chest hairs in the process. The little tingle of pain intensified the moment, feeding the savage side of his nature that was all too close to the surface.

"Jaelyn —"

"Shut up." She surprised him again — actually, stunned was a better way to put it. She was the sweet sister. The family-supporting, apron-wearing sibling who always embodied the model of a good girl.

But there was one hell of a woman hiding inside her.

He cupped her jaw, holding her head in place as he studied her gaze. It was hot enough to blister him, giving him a peek at the woman he'd never taken the time to notice she was.

Hell, maybe he'd ignored it because he'd been stupid enough to chase her sister. A hundred missed opportunities flooded his brain as he watched the way her face turned sultry with the help of her lips still wet from his kiss.

"Jaelyn —"

She kissed him again. There was nothing shy about it. Their mouths met with a hunger that curled his damned toes as she pressed up against him from knees to chest without a hint of hesitation.

And then, she was gone, slipping along the side of the house while he was lost in the moment. He blinked and pushed off the stucco in a flash only to find her watching him with her hands propped on her hips and a very confident little smile on her lips, while her hard little nipples pushed out the soft jersey of her dress, proving she was every bit as turned on as he was.

She was stunning in that moment.

"Good-bye, Bram Magnus."

She reached for the bag of trash again but he nabbed it before she got a grip.

"You'll see me again, Jaelyn. Count on it."

"Count on it ..."

Jaelyn heard Bram's words ringing in her ears as she made it back into the laundry room.

Ha! You mean after you ran for your burrow ...

God, why couldn't she feel as confident as she wanted to be? It was such a stupid twist of reality that a person could be so sure of how they wanted to be and yet when faced with an epic uprising moment of hard, blunt reality like the one she'd just encountered, her damned emotions would liquefy.

He wouldn't be coming back.

She needed to get real about that fact and fast, before the feelings he'd unleashed inside her settled into her bones.

Yeah, she cussed.

And it felt like Bram Magnus was a really good reason to lay out some mental profanity as she found herself having to force her fingers to release the doorknob.

It was over ...

And it was better that way ...

Okay, logically it was way wiser to be in the house, even if it branded her a frightened little rabbit, than ... well ... she shuddered as her mind was all too happy to offer up what she might be doing with Bram.

Hell, he'd curl her toes alright.

Yeah, and leave you at the crack of dawn ...

Jaelyn ended up laughing at herself as she made it back into the kitchen.

He was a true man-animal.

Seriously cut and hardened and untamed.

And she was jealous. It was true.

But no one had it all.

Getting a taste of him would be epic but it would haunt her, too.

Life was just a bitch that way. Bram wanted to play midnight games, sure enough, but he wouldn't be sticking around. Man-animals like him prowled.

The word suited Bram so very well. There was a way about him that just drove her insane with curiosity. Both for the feeling of him against her and the need to know him. She'd been itching to tell him off for a while because of the way he seemed so detached.

Ha! You think you can save him ...

He wasn't a baby bird.

She snorted and realized she was looking out the kitchen window.

Bram didn't need to be brought in for protection from the night.

But she did.

Oh, it wasn't that she thought she would go to hell if she indulged in sex. If that was the case, she was damned already for how often she masturbated. She had a healthy sex drive, that was a fact.

But there was something more in life.

She'd seen it in her grandparents and in a few of her friends who had met their soul mates.

Bram would laugh at that idea.

And then again, maybe that made her just a little sick to her heart to think he wouldn't understand something like soul mates.

You're back to wanting to save him ... Yeah, but she was in the house, so, safe for the moment.

Safe from yourself ...

It was the logical thing to do.

So why did it suck so bad?

"Need a hand?"

Bram jerked around, earning a smug little grin from Dare Servant. The Shadow Ops agent was halfway concealed in the dark, positioned so he could see anyone coming toward them.

"Your knees look a little unsteady, Magnus."

Honestly, I am NOT a fan of heroes sleeping with sisters. Having a sister, I find the idea distasteful and even disgusting. This is really the only aspect of the story which I didn’t like. Having said that, I am a huge fan of Dawn Ryder’s “Unbroken Heroes” series and the heroic and outrageously sexy shadow ops agents. Bram Magnus has always intrigued me. Not only because of his take no s**t attitude, but who isn’t intrigued by a man who has a name that sounds like a Roman general? The day before Bram is set to be shipped to Afghanistan he discovers that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He isn’t surprised or really upset by this betrayal. His girlfriend’s sister is the one who he has always wanted but never thought would give him a second glance. With one scorching kiss to send him off, he has nothing more than that memory and the hope that Jaelyn will give him a chance upon his return. But it seems that there is more than just his ex-girlfriend who is between them when a psychopath wants Jaelyn all to himself and is willing to do anything to make her his pet. Jaelyn has always admired Bram. Not only for his looks but also for his commitment to his job and his integrity. And even though she is ashamed to be listing after her sister’s boyfriend, she just can’t deny her attraction to him or that he is the perfect man for her. But it seems that his undercover work has led danger right to her door. Another great addition to this highly exciting and addictive series. This may be a series, but have no fear if you have missed the previous books because it will in no way keep you from enjoying this book. Can’t wait to see who will be the next shadow op agent to settle down and find love!!! Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved everything by Ms. Ryder and this book is no different. I read one of the first books of this series, and I have to say I liked this one far more than the other that I had read. Bram is dating Jaelyns sister.... until he isn't anymore. When he was cheated on he just wrote it off. Until his attraction to Jaelyn becomes more than just a trickle and transforms into a full on inferno. Too bad he is not suppose to leave a trace because he is hoping to join a covert team of men who work together to save the world all while being absolute ghosts. But when he cant get Jaelyn off his mind while he is deployed to Afghanistan he makes a mistake. He writes her all the time and one of his fellow men steals the photo of his ex and Jaelyn. Now Bram will do anything in order to save the women who has managed to become so much to him in such a short amount of time, even if it means giving up his future as part of the special op team. Jaelyn is tired of always giving up what she wants so when a chance to be with Bram presents itself in the way of a cheating sister she kisses him. She knows its wrong and that it can only be that once but she couldn't give up the opportunity. But now that he is back from deployment she knows he came back for her sister. So even though it kills her to see them together she will let him go and do her duty as the "perfect" sister and continue to care for her familial unit. That is until strange things occur and her whole life is uprooted. This is a suspenseful romance that you will not want to put down. Although it got a little confusing as who was talking at times it was still a great book. And yet another masterpiece by Ms. Ryder. I can not wait to see what comes next in this great series. Especially since I think I know who will be the next main characters and I can not wait for the explosions that will ensue. I would highly recommend this book. ~A Book Obsessed Chicks Review Team Selection.

Bram is a soldier who on the night before he deploys realizes he has been dating the wrong sister and finally shares a hot, and I mean, H-O-T, kiss with Jaelyn. This could have caused all sorts of complications if Jaelyn's sister had wanted Bram but she didn't. When Bram comes home he also brought back danger and trying to keep everything straight made me slightly dizzy. It was overall a good story just too busy. Great suspense and great heat. **Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**

You need to read the Series in Order. I got this book through NetGalley in exchange for a review, which I am happy to provide. I am really on the fence about this book, because I am sure if I had been familiar with the series I would have loved the read, but since this was the first book I read I felt lost at who all the people were and what Bram's backstory was, along with much of the action that was going on. So my suggestion would be that the series needed to be read in order, otherwise I liked the read overall, it had plenty of action and romance with some steamy lovemaking.

I really liked this read, so much suspense and drama, I was hooked from beginning to end. Bram and Jaelyn and great chemistry together, so steamy. Someone from Bram’s past wants to hurt him, will he use Jaelyn to do that? So entertaining, I couldn’t put it down.

This author is new to me, and as this is part of a series, I was a little apprehensive, but not disappointed. I soon became involved even though, I would have benefited from the background of some of the other characters. This can be read as a standalone. Bram is in the military and is also part of the Shadow Ops special force. Honour is what's more important to him. He is in a no string attached relationship. Jaelyn is the sister of Bram's girlfriend. Totally her opposite. She is family orientated and would do anything for her grandfather. He is adorable! Just before Bram ships off to Afghanistan, he pays a surprise visit to his girlfriend, only to discover that she is cheating on him. He is not in the least bit upset! He has his eyes set on Jaelyn and has been secretly pining for her ever since they first met. She is besotted by him too. He acts on impulse and gives Jaelyn a smouldering kiss. To his surprise, she doesn't resist. Quite the contrary. He has never thought of settling down in the past but, his time in Afghanistan gives him a change of heart. He craves to see Jaelyn. She doesn't think that she will see him again and can't forget "the kiss". He returns with the single focus of winning her over. The flames are ignited! Then, he finds that he has been followed and she is a target. He is prepared to protect her at any cost. As soon as one danger is out the way, he uncovers that there are others who want to get to him and the team. He takes the right measures but the oppositions are nothing, if not persistent and the heat is on. He has to make the best decision to keep her safe! This is an action packed and fast paced thriller romance. There is betrayal with revenge and power as the main drivers. It's full of angst and suspense. I was completely captivated with the whole concept. Absolutely rivetting! I received a complimentary eARC from the publisher via NetGalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

What a ride and we were taken to the limit. Dawn Ryder packs a lot of action into her romance adventures. We resume our Shadow-Ops story with skumbag Ricky Sullivan making the most of his abandonment by Tyler Martin in a Mexican jail hell hole. He finds a way to make a deal to get out. Nothing is below him to get what he wants...a life of ease back home in Ireland. Vengeance drives him to bring down the team and Tyler Martin, although he'll get as much money out of Tyler and Vice-President Carl Davis while doing it. He hooks up with a sick-o Gideon, who was a civilian Communications Specialist in Bram Magnus' unit in Afghanistan. Gideon has fixated on Bram's women he left back at home. Bram who helped out the team in an earlier book, hooked up with the superficial and selfish elder sister LeAnn. When she cheats on him his last day in the states he gives into his draw to LeAnn's younger sister Jaelyn. They've been dancing around their attraction since Bram hooked up with LeAnn. Gideon finds the sister's photo in Bram's pocket in Afghanistan and digs them up when he's back state side. This is a twisted tale of cleaning up loose ends, covering dirty tracks, vengeance and intelligence. There are sociopaths, unbalanced sick-oes, highly trained agents and testing people to discover how far they'll go for ones they love. I enjoyed the journey as all sorts of individuals faced what was really important in their lives from the hero and heroine as well as those around them. Thank you St. Martin's Press and Dawn Ryder for the opportunity to ARC read this story for a review.

'TAKE TO THE LIMIT' by Dawn Ryder is book Four in the "Unbroken Heroes" series. This is the story of Bram and Jaelyn. I have read the previous book but feel this can be a standalone book. Bram was dating Jaelyn older sister LeAnn. But the night before he is to deploy he goes to their house where he sees LeAnn with someone else. Bram isn't so much upset with her as with this ending his connection with the family. Jaelyn catches him outside the house and confronts him with that same thought...that he likes the family / home part of dating LeAnn and not the actually women. Jaelyn makes it clear that she wan'ts what her Grandparents had, which was love for each other and not a just now thing. Bram kisses her and then Jaelyn kisses him back making sure he knows what 'making love' is. Its giving back to the other person. While away doing his duty he can only think of Jaelyn and his attraction to her. Jaelyn does the same thing and knows she cares for him. But there is drama and a exciting story line that will bring them together. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

They are part of an elite unit. On task. Off grid. These are the men of the Shadow Ops task force. Be seduced and thrilled by Take to the Limit, the next Unbroken Heroes novel by Dawn Ryder. Holding out for a hero A hardened military machine, Bram Magnus is a tough, combat-ready, all-American hero who never surrenders. But the one thing he can't fight? His smoldering, intense attraction to his girlfriend's younger sister. He's always kept his feelings locked deeply down. But when his girlfriend betrays him the night before he ships off to Afghanistan, Bram has one chance to show the woman he's resisted for years that he wants her as fiercely as the first day he saw her. Ever since her older sister first brought home the soldier with steely hard muscles and piercing eyes, Jaelyn has wanted Bram, and when her sister casts him aside the night before he leaves, Jaelyn can't resist one steamy hot kiss with him. But danger is not far behind, and even as a deadly enemy hunts them, their relationship only grows more explosive. It's all Bram can do to keep Jaelyn safe, but with a threat this powerful, will they pay the ultimate price for their passion? Review: This is my first time reading any of Ms. Ryder's works. I have been wanting to read them for awhile but the opportunity had not come up until now. I will start off by saying this is book number 4 in the series, but it can totally be read as a stand alone with little difficulty. Like I said I had not read anything by her and I was not confused at coming in at book 4. I really liked the story and the characters and now I want to go back and read the others when I can get a chance. In this book the main couple is Bram and Jaelyn. When they first act on their attraction, Bram is actually Jaelyn's sisters boyfriend. Which is kind of crappy but Bram and LeAnn have a very, weird relationship. Jaelyn is who Bram wants and he makes sure he comes back to claim her. Unfortunately because of his military and spy like past, he brings some trouble back with him. What ensues is Bram and Jaelyn fighting for their lives and to be together. This book is very suspenseful and action packed. It is also very sensual and sexy, Bram & Jaelyn have great chemistry. I loved that both of them fight together and are both strong characters. It does have some light-hearted moments, especially where Jaelyn's grandfather is involved. It is told from multiple points of view. The only thing that bothered me was LeAnn, her character was not very likable through part of the book and then did an about face after that, maybe it was just me. Very enjoyable romantic suspense. 4Stars *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book provided by the publisher.*

This is the first book I have read by Dawn Ryder. This book is part of a series called Unbroken Heroes. It can be fully read alone and understood but I also went back and got the previous books so I could read about some of the side characters in this one. This one is about Bram Magnus and Jaelyn. Jaelyn is the younger sister of his "girlfriend". Bram is on his way to be deployed again and goes to see LeAnn, only to find her going off with another man. Jaelyn sees him outside watching and makes a few comments that push him to do something that he can't regret. They both have feelings for each other that they have never spoken about or looked to closely at because of her sister. While Bram is deployed he decides he wants to see where a real relationship with Jaelyn could go. Little does he know that she will be targeted because of this decision. This book had quite a few twists and turns. From the connection with her family and sister to the things that happen with a colleague. There are things that happen that I never could have predicted. But then you see how strong the characters truly are. There were things that I truly loved about this book but then there were a couple of things I didn't like as well. It ran a little for me at times. And I didn't like Bram at first. I thought he was wishy washy. Who truly wants a man that was with your sister? But says he always felt a pull towards you? And Jaelyn seemed like a pushover to me. I thought her family walked all over her, and in some ways they do. But then you find out how truly strong she is. How she won't put up with a bunch of bull when it's something truly important. Overall, this book was really good. I liked the characters once I got farther into it and I was better able to relate to them. Definitely worth the read!

Danger followed him home… This is the fourth book in the Unbroken Heroes series that can be read as a stand-alone, though many references to prior characters and events are best understood if you’ve read the previous books. Prior to deployment to Afghanistan Bram Magnus was betrayed by his girlfriend, a woman who was in reality emotionally just a booty call for him, her younger sister was the one who really attracted him. They shared a memorable kiss that last night and he knew he’d be back for her even if he shouldn’t. Tempted by the Shadow Ops teams and currently being recruited by them, having a connection out in the open is dangerous but he can’t resist the pull to Jaelyn. Men like him are at risk for retribution if they can be found and what followed him home is personal and decidedly perilous. Always the responsible sister Jaelyn Sondors felt guilt about longing for the man her sister had. When her sister threw him away she couldn’t resist the temptation of a heated kiss she hasn’t been able to forget but he did leave and there’d been no word from him since. Now he’s returned and looks her way. But can she follow her true feelings with her sister wanting to instill herself in his life again? She has no idea how far her sister had already gone to undermine their relationship which is just beginning. Her sister is the least of her worries for she’s become a target by association and will need all her wits to survive what followed Bram home. Strong steamy palpable chemistry between the protagonists drew them to each other like magnetism though many things (family, career, external forces) sought to pull them apart yet what was meant to be stood true but they had to fight for it and in that battle there was much character growth. Remnants of previous events came back to haunt the Shadow Ops team of which Bram was aligned to, a man seeking vengeance against them joined a man with an obsession for a woman in a picture. Can Bram and his friends save Jaelyn in time? This book didn’t have the level of intricate plot or depth of conspiracies the others had and therefore was not as powerful a read for me as the first three books where the intensity of action and suspense was thoroughly engaging. The man being with both sisters is a trope that doesn’t sit well with me but I liked how it was done here. The numerous breaks between character voices and changes of scenes that were not clearly designated was at times confusing. I didn’t always know who was speaking and had to backtrack to see where the focus had changed. Regardless, I enjoyed the read and absolutely loved the grandfather and his secrets. An advanced reading copy was obtained from the publisher via NetGalley.

Going in to this read, I was unaware it was several episodes into a series. There was a lot of background and characters that it referenced and I felt a little lost and disconnected for a while. However, I was able to quickly catch up and began to enjoy the bones of this story. Bram has been having a thing with Jaelyn’s older sister until the night that LeeAnn leaves him for another man. Jaelyn cuts loose on him regarding his blasé behavior regarding her sister and his attitude toward life in general. This was just the thing to capture Bram’s attention and turn it toward her. After his service in Afghanistan, he returns home to make Jaelyn his. However, there is someone who is watching him, looking for a weak spot and they find it in Jaelyn. When her life and that of her family are in danger and uprooted, Bram decides to do that right thing and cut Jaelyn loose. Too bad she’s not in agreement with that decision. This was a nice read with lots of suspense and evil machinations. I wished I had read the previous books so I could’ve enjoyed it more. This is the story of Bram and Jaelyn. I have only read the previous book, Deep Into Trouble with Saxon and Ginger which I really liked. I have to be honest and say that I didn't like this one as much. I felt that the connection was not as deep as it should be and I found the story line confusing to follow at times. Bram was dating LeAnn, Jaelyn's sister, a cheerleader. He comes back from leave one night, to see her cheating on him with another guy. He realizes that he had feelings all along for Jaelyn, her sister. Before he is sent on another mission, they kiss. He writes to her for the 6 months that he is way, however LeAnn intercepts those letters and Jaelyn feels that he has no interest in her. Once he does get back, he goes straight to their home, and unbeknownst to him, brings trouble to their door. He lets Jaelyn know that he wants a relationship between them. Jaelyn proves to be a strong female, LeAnn changes her selfish attitude and their grandfather, Milton was the absolute best. The story is filled with action, sexy scenes and and the bad guys get their just desserts. All in all not a bad read. 3 stars.

Take to the Limit is an intense romantic suspense with lots of alpha men and a few alpha women too. I really enjoyed the story but almost got whiplash with the changing points of view. Still, an enjoyable escape and exciting read.

Overall rating 3.5, Story was very enjoyable but I thought it jumped around a bit too much. Took me a while to keep all the players in the story straight. Bram Magnus is all alpha and a member of the elite Shadow Ops task force. He quickly realizes he asked out the wrong sister when he sees Leah's betrayal right before his eyes. That's ok. He'd realized Jaelyn is the one for him but since he's shipping out soon he doesn't let anything develop. Now he's back and determined to get the girl. Too bad trouble followed him and that trouble will put Jaelyn in danger. An entertaining romantic suspense that is definitely worth the read. I recommend it.

The moment Bram Magnus lays eyes on Jaelyn he knows he has to have her, problem is she comes with complications, ones that involve his ex, and her sister. But when things with her sister go sour, he decides to finally make his move for Jaelyn, since she is the one he wanted all along, and he begins to write her letters while he is deployed. But his little secret attraction draws the attention of a fellow soldier and things start to get dangerous from there... now the woman he has wanted to be his for so long might never know how much she means to him and it's up to him to keep her safe from the danger that he brought to her door! Watching the man she wants spend quality time with her sister nearly kills her, Bram is everything she wants.... and everything she can't have! Jaelyn has it bad for Bram, but making her feelings for him known would be wrong on so many levels, he after all loves her sister, or does he? But while she is busy swooning over her sexy soldier she catches the eye of a stalker and someone from Bram's past, and soon finds herself in grave danger... good thing her sexy soldier is hot on her trail! This was my first time settling down with a book by this author and I absolutely loved it, so much so, it inspired me to purchase the other three books in the series. It was a very suspenseful, action packed, steamy, and intriguing story that kept me enthralled the whole way through. I enjoyed watching the relationship play out between Bram and Jaelyn, their chemistry was amazing and they were very well drawn characters. Overall I would have to say that Take To The Limit is a very satisfying and entertaining read, one that I highly recommend you get your hands on... you will not be disappointed with what you find!! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title.

This was an enjoyable read for a romantic suspense with a bit of taboo. The fact that Bram was dating one sister but really wanted the other is the reason I wanted to read this. It really wasn't a big issue in the book as I was expecting. Bram and LeAnn were never really serious and he catches her cheating on him the night before he deploys to Afghanistan which ended their relationship. LeAnn does cause a bit of drama in the beginning between Bram and Jaelyn, but she has a change of heart and attitude when Jaelyn is kidnapped by a psycho Bram worked with in Afghanistan. There is more action than there is romance, but that's not unusual in a suspense novel. It looks like each book focuses on one couple while continuing with an overall plot throughout the series. No cliffhanger but a happily for now ending. ARC provided by NetGalley.

4 - "Honor..." Stars! The fourth book in Dawn Ryder Unbroken heroes series; Take to the Limit finally gives us Bram Magnus’s story. This is a series I have read from the beginning ,and you 100% have to have done so to understand even a small percentage of what happens in this book, to be honest I struggled in parts because the space between releases is making it a bit difficult to remember everything that has already gone on. That said a few villains finally get their just desserts in this one, and Bram finally gets his girl. She was everything pure, everything his hands were too dirty to touch. I won’t lie I get a bit of an uncomfortable cringe on my face when I read a romance where one or both of the characters have previously been involved with their current lovers sibling(s) on the same basis in the past. Bram on this occasion has boffed both of the Sondors sisters, starting with in-your-face professional Cheerleader LeAnn, before deciding her more homely sister Jaelyn is the one he actually wants. "I’m not a good guy…" If you have read the previous books in the series you will know that there is so much going on with multiple POV's telling the story, and because of that the whole sleeping with sisters pretty much one after the other wasn’t given much gravitas or page time to be honest which in equal parts I was glad and frustrated with. LeAnn was a tad miffed to begin with and then it all kicked off with the bad guys, and she suddenly changed character completely and decided to stop being all about herself and become more ‘family’ orientated. "You don’t scare me… that’s the problem. You make me want to throw a gauntlet down just to make sure you know how much I refuse to be scared by you." Didn’t really ring true to me if I am honest, I also thought the whole handling of the withholding Bram’s Letters to JaeLyn while he was overseas, was left to slide. Me personally, sister or not I would have knocked her out for doing such a thing. I also would have liked the author to have included some of the letter into the story, it would have helped deepen a somewhat weak connection between our H/h. "I came back for you." What I really liked was getting to see all of the previous couples and how their relationships have progressed since the beginning of the series, I have a huge soft spot for the Hale brothers so seeing them happy and settled made up for what I felt was a luke-warm main couple in this installment of the series. "You don’t know me… Not really." That said this was still an enjoyable read. I do believe this series is on its last legs though, presidential hopeful Carl Davis is very much due his just desserts now, and I hope that the author doesn’t drag it out over more than a couple more books. As previously mentioned the space between releases means that the bigger picture in the story arc has been playing out since the first book which was released back in March 2016, and some of those earlier bits of information are becoming a little ‘foggy’ in the memory banks now. The fifth book, Close to the Edge which gives us Dare Servant’s story is due for release in February 2017 and I will be interested to see which direction the author takes the plot next.
