Overview

Taking Turns by JA Huss

I've never been afraid of the dark...but that doesn't mean I wanted to live in it. And maybe everyone wants what they can't have, but I should've thought it over before I accepted the key and unlocked the door to their forbidden world.

Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.

Number Two is mostly gentle. But it's the other side of him I like best. The wild side.

Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg.

It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That's it. That's all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden.

I just didn't expect to like them.

I love erotic suspense and intrigue filled storylines with characters that have their own interesting tastes , flaws and secrets. Smith , Bric and Quin have different ideas and wants when it comes to what they need in a woman , but what they do like is sharing ..... Chella is that new lady . Add in a former flame that vanishes , a menage club , and three specific rules Chella and her men have to abide by or there whole arrangement ceases to exist . This book was Crazy , emotional and Hot as Heck !!

I am a fan of JA Huss but sadly this book left me disappointed. The story is poorly edited, with missing words, extra words, Nd words out of order so they didn't make sense. There are some very creepy scenes of the hero breaking into the heroine's house and masturbating. He does this again while she is sleeping. She freaks out but then it's forgotten. I stopped reading then but picked it up again several month later. Unfortunately the ending of the book stretches the lines of fiction too far as to not be believable.

I have to say this book was totally not what I expected. To be honest I thought it was going to be just a sexy read lots of sex and an okay story which sometimes I am fine with. But I was extremely surprised to find out it was so much more than that. I have read quite a few menage stories, some just smutty some with really great stories and complex characters. Taking Turns has it all. This is my first J.A. Huss read and I plan on checking out more of her work. Smith, Quinn and Bric are friends who are invested in a sex club/restaurant/nightclub that is by invitation membership only they also like to share women. They agree on roles and give the woman they agree upon a contract of which everyone follows but its also a bit of a game. Most of the "relationships" only last a few months. Their current relationship however has lasted three years, but Rochelle seems to have had enough and decides to leave them. Rules of the game none of the men can try to find her which leaves Quinn devastated because he commuted the ultimate mistake and fell in love with her. Rochelle leaves them with a replacement Chella. Chella is a girl from a wealthy background but she has a secret she wants what Rochelle has the attentions of three men. But we can tell right from the start it is so much more than that. Chella wants to be loved and accepted for who she is flaws and all and to not be made to be ashamed of her wants and needs. Immediately we get the feeling one of the guys is a bit more interested in Chella than the rest. The whole story kept me glued to the page from understanding the rules of the game to figuring out if Chella was meant to be with Smith and if he was truly ready to give himself over to another person. His character surprised me most of all I just loved him! I am excited to read the next book in the series as it will be about why Rochelle left and how she comes back but will it be to Quinn hopeless romantic in love, Bric or the sexual dominant who doesn't believe in love? or both of them. Looking forward to finding out where J.A. Huss takes that story. I loved the "Dear Reader" from the author very unique. I highly recommend this read, sexy, complex, emotional, fun and sometimes down right dirty.

A Review of Taking Turns by JA Huss Making a quad - 5 stars I was intrigued by the teasers for this book long before it came out. I saw teasers of what was to come and the more I saw, the more I wanted to read this book. It is a look into a side of a woman that isn't afraid of the dark and wants to go a little deeper into it. There is mystery galore throughout the book. We know that Chella takes the place of Rochelle, but we have no idea why. We can guess, we can try and figure it out, but that's all it really is. Guesstimating. So, we have to move on from Rochelle and figure out what Chella's end point is. Is she there to set up the guys? Is she there to be a replacement for the one that got away? It's a nasty game these beautiful three men play. They each get 48 hours with her every week and she gets one day to herself. When Chella is first introduced to the story, she keeps quite when Quinn comes to her at midnight and screws her in the dark without knowing that she is NOT Rochelle. When he finally figures out that he just did the bump and grind with a total stranger, he freaks out and ties her up, leaving her in a closet, while he calls the other two guys for an emergency meeting. All four of these characters are very well defined and fleshed out (maybe not until the very end, but still), making them all too believable. You are going to love this rollercoaster of a read — with twists and turns galore and more than one loopty-loop thrown in for good measure. I don't want to give too much of the story away or ruin it for anyone else, but man oh man, how twisted can people be? And I'm NOT talking about these four characters or the club the guys are members of. This has more to do with Chella's parents and what she had to live through. She is more like Smith than she ever imagined and you find yourself on the edge of your seat hoping these two broken, lovable people make it through this process in one piece. I can hardly WAIT for the next book in the series. I know what I hope happens, but we all know wishing and hoping doesn't always give us what we want, but I am looking forward to the possibilities. See you on the next one. **Honest review voluntarily provided for purchased product.**

Let me catch my breath or change my panties. Maybe both! This story was so completely outstanding I'm practically breathless! I haven't read a book like this EVER! The sexual pleasures that jump from page to page. The tension build up, the escaping of lust & passion will send chills over your entire body. One sexually deprived successful and intelligent woman and three very wealthy distinguished business partners enter this arrangement. A very odd, different and unique type of bond. This kind of relationship is not for most, does it even exist lol, but for the four individuals involved giving each that kind of pleasurable euphoria along with the ever changing rules, personal drama, and just the simple dynamics of them all is blissful. It's beyond sexual explorations in writing, this book is a orgasmic roller coaster with a bit of mind-fu&@ing add in one hell of a ménage à quad & put a cherry on top! I was a little confused at first with all the characters, but very quickly was enraptured by each POV. Loving the details each main character shares. OH and the ending... I personally hate a rushed ending, give me more! This one book gave it! You have a FULL unbelievable captivating story that fills in every oozing juice detail, but then you get a little more with another charters perspective THEN a epilogue (WAHOO) THEN the author herself adds in a little more!!! You will be just as excited with anticipation for the next book in this series but you will not be left unsatisfied in the slightest bit. -read by French Sparkle with Pop Fizz Clink Read

How does one even rate a JA Huss book anymore?!?! This book!!! Gah!!! I loved everything about this book from the sexy cover to the hot as hell words written inside. Huss seems to be checking off all my firsts when it comes to book porn. LOL! And I have loved every second of it. JA Huss will take you on a journey that's dark, erotic, sexy as hell and full of so much suspense and anticipation. I loved that it was told in all the main characters POV. Your hairs will be standing on end, butterflies in your stomach and your panties wet. Just when you think you figured out what's going on Huss throws another curve ball at you. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book Turning Back. I will follow JA Huss in the dark anytime!!! This is a MUST READ!!!

Oh my sweet baby Jesus. This book is refreshing. JA Huss has taken contemporary romance and made it hers. Taking Turns is an original storyline. None of that out-of-the-box, cookie cutter romance here. The whole idea of this story is genuine. Is there a quad relationship? Yes. Is there a ton of sex? Yes. If either of those things bother you, find something else to read. If you are open to an authentic story with complex characters, look no further. “Love is not one-sided. Love has to come from both ends at the same time.” The characters Huss created are some of my favorites. I am eager to get more from this series.

A bold, wickedly sinful exploration of our deepest and darkest sexual fantasies and desires. J.A. Huss continues to do what she does best. She pushes your button, your comfort level, and leaves a lasting impression. For some, it may leave a bitter aftertaste but for readers like myself, it leaves me wanting more. More of her scintillating and tantalizing prose. More of her raw and demanding characters. And more of her unexpected storyline. "She likes the forbidden world we live in. And she wants to be a part of it, whether she realizes it or not.” Do you like the dark? If so, get ready to fall in love and be engrossed in a story that is beyond our wicked imagination where forbidden meets pleasure. Dominance meets submissiveness. Lust meets desire. And where sex is the key to unlocking the doors of three different men. So are you ready to discover why Taking Turns might not be so bad after all? Number One is mostly silent. He watches me with them very carefully. His gaze never wanders. His interest never wanes.Number Two is mostly gentle. But it’s the other side of him I like best. The wild side.Number Three is mostly reserved. He refuses to cross the line. Even when I beg. Three friends who happens to share one woman. Yes, if you are not fan of menage then this book is definitely not for you. But if you are brave enough to step out of your comfort zone and explore an erotic fantasy come to life then let me tell you why Taking Turns is absolutely brilliant and visceral. As the daughter of a US Senator, Marcella Walcott should be the definition of prim and proper but when Chella decides to exchange places with Rochelle, the current play toy of Smith Baldwin, Quin Foster, and Elias Bricman, Chella discovers that being part of a dirty sexual agreement with these three men might not be so bad after all especially each has their own sexual rules and proclivities. Chella loves sex. This taking turns was supposed to be an exploration of her need for the dark and to satisfy her carnal erotic desires. But what happens when being in the dark gets sprinkled in with light? Will Chella discover why this dirty sexual game of Taking Turns can get complicated especially when feelings, friendship, and possibly love begins to emerge? And what happens truth of Rochelle’s disappearance is revealed? Will either men want to take turns with Chella after her secret has been exposed? "Because if I #&%$ you first without the other guys involved, then you’d be mine and not ours. And I’m more interested in ours than mine.” Taking Turns is the reason why I love reading JA’s books. First and foremost, it’s because JA Huss does not give a s%$t what people think of her books. She writes stories that are unique and in turn readers like myself flock to her characters and stories because she continues to have readers begging for more. She may not realize it but she begs readers to embrace the dark, the light, and whatever shades of colors that may be shining through. This book is utterly brilliant in a sense because she gave these four characters a voice that was different and allowed each of their personality to be spotlighted. No character was in the shadows. Each and every character were stripped and had their raw vulnerability, darkest desires, and thoughts exposed. So if you are looking for a story that was magnetic, sinful, bold, and erotic then I urge you to read Taking Turns.

J A Huss kicks off this new series with a bang. Introducing four new characters that each separately intertwine together, dangling their own dark secrets, hidden pasts and fast forward minds. Never a disappointing moment where plot twists are concerned. I anticipated reading this series the moment I learned it was in the works. I had butterflies turning the first page. Not only did it meet my high expectations, it exceeded them. The concept behind the game played between these four characters worked. It's a tad dark, a bit taboo, making this first installment a total wow factor...combining the four of their personalities together, their secret desires unfolding between each consenting moment, made this a page turner. The writing style is phenomenal. The best thing is knowing that there will be more to come. I'm already counting the days until the next release. I can not say enough good things about this first book in the Turning Series. If you are already a fan of J. A. Huss, this book will be the perfect addition to your collection. If you are new to her work, this will be a fantastic introduction. It will take you seconds into reading to have you hooked. In that case, I'll say in advance, 'You're welcome.' :)

Wow! I really don't know what to say about this book without giving anything away. It's mainly about four people. Three men, Bric, Quin, and Smith and one woman, Chella, who participate in unusual sexual activities together. The three men are long time friends who play a game (or have an arrangement) with women. But only one woman at a time. Chella is fascinated with the deal they have going on and wants to be a part of it. This book was very hot and sexy. It's told in four points of view, which I loved. It was great getting to see what all of them were really thinking and it was important for understanding exactly what was going on. The story was deeper than I had expected and I really enjoyed it. I think JA Huss has an interesting, but brilliant imagination and she's an excellent writer. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

JA Huss takes you on a wildly erotic ride with her latest release. Bound to stir up the romance world with her take on erotic romance. You may have read a ménage romance before, but you’ve never read one like this. There is no skirting the edge of the forbidden, there is only plunging yourself into the darkness and enjoying every heart-stopping minute of this thrilling erotic ride. This book leaves a wet spot. What can I even say? I’ve been waiting for this book since May of 2016. At a crowded table at a restaurant after the Chicago books signing, JA let it slip, the title of the new series she was going to release in 2017. I was on a high from the Mister’s series and my claim on those boys, when I let out an actual gasp at hearing the title. I swear I got a little wet. Taking Turns. I mean how does that title not cause a puddle? But like most books from this author, nothing is as it seems. How in the heck do you pull of a story that has is a quad-ship? I mean, I get the logistics of it all – three holes and well three.... ;) When Quin heads to Rochelle’s room for his turn he is a little more than shocked to discover the woman he just had sex with was not Rochelle. The woman that has been playing this game with him and his friends for the last three years. How did she get in the room? Where did Rochelle go? When Smith and Bric appear to help sort out this little mess, one thing is clear. Rochelle is gone and the rules are the rules. No one is going after her, even if Quin wants to. But Smith is intrigued enough about this new girl to entertain the idea of starting a new game and soon Bric is on board. Once they convince Chella to play along all they have to do is ensure that Quin is willing. Nothing is as it seems. Taking Turns is all about the pleasure and the rules and the game. But just what that game is, I have no idea. With each book from Huss you feel like you fall head first into the rabbit hole. And although you’ve learned from her prior books that the story will never be figured out until the very end, you can’t help but struggle to figure it out. With four stars to this story, it was clear from the start which two were focused on. You were instantly drawn into these characters, how the existed individually, one on one and all together. There was no competition for your feelings. Each man gave you something the other was lacking, each one fulfilling a need. Make no mistake, this book is dirty. But it isn’t just the dirty sex, the raw sexuality of this little game. Beyond the skin slapping and moans there were layers upon layers of emotions. You are never more vulnerable than you are when you are opening yourself up to a lover. You are letting someone see a part of you and each time these characters came together a new layer was exposed. Raw, vulnerable, emotions poured out of those scenes in such a subtle way. Huss gave you the obscene but ensured that it felt intimate. You were a voyeur into their deepest sexual fantasies and you kept your eyes glued to the scene, holding your breath, fearful that even a blink would cause you to miss a moment of it. By the end of the story I understood what Chella gained from this game but still couldn’t grasp the reason why Bric, Quin and Smith played it. I have so many theories spinning in my head as to what will happen next, what’s been happening all along and just who is really playing who. This game is complex and I think this was just the tip of the iceberg.

JA Huss is undeniably a great author. She knows how to write to keep you on the edge of your seat, she knows how to pull you into the dark, and boy does she make it hot.. EVERYTIME. Taking turns is a taboo romance revolving around 4 characters- a foursome. At first I was worried that this book was going to strictly revolve around sex and only sex... "It was carnal, it was sensual, and it was erotic. That’s it. That’s all it was supposed to be. A trip into the dark. A peek into the forbidden." EXCEPT that wasn't it. It was so much more than sex. Don't get me wrong- I love how Julie turns everything she writes into molten lava but I was hoping for more and she delivered. This book is told in 4 POV and each one of them is absolutely necessary and critical to making this story so much more than just sex. She developed these 4 characters beyond what I could have even imagined. You get into their heads and begin to learn about the games people play with each other. It is invigorating and eye opening. I was completely hooked in this dark world. I read through it in a day and when I hit the end.. I cursed her! How could she leave me wanting so much more?!? I NEED IT! I can't stop thinking about it and I'm excited to see where she takes it next.

Oh J.A. Huss, your mind is a dark and lovely playground of debauchery… and I would love to live there for just even one day. But damn, what a day that would be! Taking Turns is a peek into the dark side of life and love by way of a structured and twisted sex game. It begs the question, “How far are you willing to go… in order to fulfill your fantasies… in order to live your dream?” This book will make you think, make you soul search a bit, and keep you so heated up that you'll definitely want to read it with a fan and and a cool drink nearby… or something battery operated. The characters are complex and well thought out and unapologetically flawed. They will draw you completely into the story and once they have you, they'll never let you go. I was hooked from the first page and remained riveted to the very last word. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a provocative and compelling read. *I was given an ARC of this book by the author and voluntarily chose to review. All opinions are my own.

Oooh myyy. Taking Turns is dark, dirty, and so hot. Its unexpected, heart racing, and consuming. Once again, J. A. Huss gives a twisty tale where everything means something, even if you don't know what it means yet.

Taking Turns by JA Huss is a new venture into dark erotica for the much loved romantic suspense author. Ms. Huss kills another genre with her crisp writing and enthralling storytelling. She has mixed sensuality, smut, and an “I never saw that coming” culmination into what is sure to be her next hit. Taking turns has four narrators. Mimicking their relationship, the foursome take turns telling the tale of how they think they met, what they want/expect from their current arrangement, and what they are curious/insecure about in the arrangement. More interesting is that only some of the narrators are reliable. It is not clear until the end, who were the more reliable narrators. Marcella Walton enters the world of the Turning Point Club and takes three of its main players, Smith Baldwin, Elias Bricman, and Quin Foster, by storm. She is a quiet storm with sneaker deadly waves. Through the entire book, I was never sure who was the player and who was the pawn. Unrevealed motives and backgrounds make for an engrossing, psychological game of chess. After one revealing scene (one of my favorite, by the way), I started to pay more attention to the chapter title art. I had noticed the dandelions, but I only glanced at them as my eyes made a beeline to the next sentence of the story. However, the dandelion on Marcella’s chapters is noticeably different than the artwork on Bric, Smith, and Quin’s chapters. Draw your own hypothesis or conclusion as you read the book. Taking Turns is a dark, adults-only read, but there are so many more layers beyond the sexual exploration. What do these four want out of this arrangement? What could possibly be their motivation to want to be in this sort of arrangement? Even their individual knowledge of the now missing Rochelle is intriguing. Oh, and their secrets! They all have them, and some are more damaging than others. The questions keep coming, and some of them get answers. Hopefully, there will be more answers and more wishes fulfilled in the planned sequel, Turning Back. Once again, author J.A. Huss has delivered a mind-blowing novel that deserves to be re-read!
