About the Author

JC Cassels, a native of Tampa, Florida, traces her lifelong fascination with SF/Adventure to watching Star Trek on a tiny black and white portable television aboard the family boat as a child. The Space Opera trend that followed the release of Star Wars fed an obsessive need for swashbuckling adventure set in deep space. Today, JC feeds that need by writing her own adventures, heavily inspired by 1960's television shows like Star Trek, Mission: Impossible, and Wild Wild West and fueled by Firefly reruns. When not writing in her haunted hospital, JC lives with her husband, three children, five dogs, twenty chickens and a horse in a century-old house in a tiny rural community, and enjoys spending her free time sewing, camping, and heckling theoretical physicists on the Science Channel.

A slew of my favorite authors all in one place. I especially enjoyed visiting Linnea Sinclair's cyborg Brandon again. Steamy and sensual by turns this is one of the best sci-fi romance collections out there.

This 211 page free ebook anthology contains eight short stories by well-established and up-and-coming authors in science fiction romance. The stories range from the short and sweet, to the comedic, to the dark and sensual. As is the case with most anthologies, I enjoyed some of the stories more than others. ‘’Imprint” by Pippa Jay — Rating: 3.5/5 “Allure” by Amy Laurens — Rating: 4/5 “Nobody’s Present” by Marcella Burnard — Rating: 3/5 “The Stranger” by Kyndra Hatch — Rating: 4/5 “Mission: Nam Selan” by Linnea Sinclair — Rating: 3/5 “Prime Sensations” by Liana Brooks — Rating: 3/5 “Envy’s Revenge” by Berinn Rae — Rating: 4/5 “Whiskey and Starshine” by Erica Hayes — Rating: 4/5 Overall, I found Tales From the SFR Brigade to be quite a satisfying read. A few of the stories were too short (a common problem with anthologies), and a couple were missing key scenes. There was the odd typographical error, but the formatting and editing were otherwise top-notch. Recommended to fans of these authors, as well as anyone looking for a satisfying diversion on a rainy afternoon. -- lyradora

What a wonderful find! It is a great compilation of Sci-Fi romance stories by gifted writers. I was thrilled to read Mission, a contribution from Linnea Sinclair based on her universe and characters from Games of Command, my favorite novel by Ms. Sinclair. And I discovered a few new writers to check into. I am glad you ladies formed the SFR Brigade!
