Tales from the Texas Longhorns by Steve Richardson

From Texas' first bowl appearance on Jan. 1, 1943, in Dallas to its 41st last December in the Holiday Bowl, a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Washington, the lore of Longhorn football has been matched by few schools during the past 50 years. Read fascinating anecdotes and stories about Longhorn legends. Explore the careers and unique styles of UT coaches Darrell Royal, Dana Bible, Mac Brown, and other coaches who have tried to maintain Texas' high standards of competing for national titles and conference championships. Examine some of the great rivalries the Longhorns have had with Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Alabama, Nebraska, Ole Miss and many of the historic plays in college football. Relive "roll left" vs Nebraska in the 1996 Big 12 Title game, Williams's record-breaking run against Texas A&M in 1998, and maybe the greatest pass call in college football history when Texas beat Arkansas for the 1969 national championship. From the days of the old Southwest Conference to the new Big 12, UT football has a storied legacy.
