I read the book after having watched (two times) the fascinating movie with the same title shot by the book’s author. Both the book and movie were inspired by the author’s noble endeavor of preserving Asian ancient healing traditions for generations to come. Both, however, tell a bigger and a more profound story of the author’s quest of herself and her purpose in life. Marie-Rose narrates her story by masterfully weaving modern outlooks of the curious young woman grown up in the West, in the family of the Asian immigrants, into the wisdom of Buddhism and the ancient spiritual practices of Shamanism. As she admits on several occasions in the book, it was through her remote journeys in time and space that she was able to tap into new horizons for her life. I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of Asian cultures and their spiritual wisdom.
