"Tamechactee is such a great read! The main character is intriguingly multifaceted, passionate and touched by destiny like all great heroes are. The story is a capitivating epic that made me want to "jump in" and help out. The villains range from classic evil to those that inspire empathy. I loved this book. Can't wait for the next one."

Joseph Murphy Landing, Jr. is fifteen years old and a sophomore at Wando High School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. He began his writing career at the age of thirteen, announcing to his parents that he was "starting his first novel." Joseph was born in Greensboro, North Carolina. From a very young age he loved books, having them read to him by his parents or older sister, and when he was barely in kindergarten reading on his own. When Joseph learned to talk it became apparent that he loved words and often used vocabulary that sounded precocious coming from a young child. His family soon realized that Joseph had a flair for the dramatic and a vivid imagination. Joseph has studied martial arts since the age of five and holds a second degree black belt. He has attended the Duke Young Writers' Camp and is currently working on the sequel to his first novel.

Reviewed by Joy H. for Readers Favorite "Tamechactee" is the story of eighteen-year-old Marcus, a high school senior from a broken home who is sick of school and sick of his abusive uncle. Marcus is headed for an adventure of a lifetime when he is given a chance to go into the wooded acres of an area in Ashville, North Carolina. In these woods, Marcus meets up with a Native American tribe of the Malchacteans, who believe he is the Tamechactee, the 'Arrow Soul'. Marcus soon learns the ways of this tribe and realizes that this tribe thinks he is the fulfillment of a prophecy, and his destiny is to save humanity. And thus the journey begins. This is a pretty good piece of work for a fifteen-year-old sophomore boy. Though fantasy books are not my usual genre to read, I was amazed at this entire story. In “Tamechactee: Arrow Soul,” Joseph Landing writes a book with so many details and with twists and turns throughout the story so that he will keep you on your toes until the very last words you read. You will see that Joseph very well researched this project by the vivid details he writes throughout the book. This young author creates interesting and fascinating characters, drops them into a Native American Indian lifestyle setting and sets them in the wooded acres of North Carolina, giving his readers an unforgettable journey that will stay with them long after they finish the book. If you are a Fantasy/Sci-Fi sort of person, you will love this story. It is written for young adults but older adults will enjoy it as well. If for no other reason, read “Tamechactee” just to see the amazing writing of young Joseph Landing. It will be well worth your time and money.
