Color me surprised. Most free books are short. This wss a full length novel. Showed lots of depth. Yes, at times it was slow, but I never felt bored. In fact, I stayed up too late reading. Might just have to buy the next book. ....

Couldn't put it down. I was hesitant to start it, but I'm so glad I did!

When I read the story description I had in mind something different. I must say I was more than pleasantly surprised! There was a lot more to the story and the characters were well developed.

I was hooked from the first page. It is wonderful to read a novel and see how meticulously the story has been created and translated to the written page. Beryl and Gavin's story is compelling and has such emotion. Enjoy!

Beryl's story is just awsome. I can be tough to please when reading new adult stories, but I could not put this one down. It is raw...real, and I found myself just as interested in her venture to NYC as I was in her budding relationship with a rock star thousands of miles away. A must read! Now on to Stella's story... ---J.K. James

I think this is one of the most unique love stories I've read in awhile - mostly because the MCs fall for one another without ever having met in person. Their relationship began with them each having preconceived notions about the other and gradually grew into something more real and meaningful then either had ever experienced. Beryl once dreamed of adventure - the kind she experienced with her dad. But after losing him, and her mother basically withdrawing from life, Beryl has lived safely - always planning, planning - and never living. When an opportunity presents itself - to actually starting living, to have an adventure, she swallows back her fear and takes the leap. Beryl is a character I really identified with. I admired her making an adventure for herself. I enjoyed seeing her grow - seeing her ideas, how she formed opinions of people and things, change. She made bad decisions and mistakes, but she learned from them. I also liked seeing her influence on others.  I also liked seeing Gavin grow - take responsibilities for his actions and start to mold his life into one he both wanted to and would be proud to live. One thing that stood out to me was the contrast between Beryl and Gavin. They came from different backgrounds. They were living vastly different lives - Beryl was barely living while Gavin was living it up rock-star style. Then Beryl decides to run towards life while Gavin runs away. "Equal and opposite." I was planning to give this 4 Stars but as I'm writing this review, I'm realizing how this story affected me. It's really closer to 4.25. :) It's not flawless but there's something that's so real about the story and it resonated with me. Tretheway's writing is smooth and she's created characters that I enjoyed spending my time with...that I look forward to meeting up with again.

I wasn't expecting much from a free book so I started on a week day. What a mistake that was! I did not want to stop reading. I don't want to give anything away because I love that I knew nothing about the book going in and loved every second of it. There is a rock star in it but this is not a rock star book.

Got this for FREE and it sounded so good but I really never connected with the characters or the story. Although it started out very slow, it did pick up towards the end but the storyline just didn't gel...wasn't believable and the characters really didn't have any depth. Although the main character was a rock star, it didn't seem like a rock star kind of book. Not sure I will read the next book or not...if it is free maybe but I really didn't like Stella so I don't know.

If you like rock romance this book is a good one. I wish it would have gone a little deeper with groupies, and her ex. Still a good read. Buying the second book
