After her parents die within six months of each other and her son goes off to college, savvy entrepreneur Cara Mia Delgatto decides she REALLY needs to get a life. A road trip leads to her grandfather Poppy's home on the picturesque Treasure Coast of Florida, where she impulsively snaps up an abandoned building-only to discover it's already occupied by a fresh corpse. While a murder investigation swirls around her, Cara Mia enlists the help of two new friends to open The Treasure Chest, a store specializing in one-of-a-kind recycled, repurposed, and revived décor items with a beachy-keen theme. But before Cara can get the doors of her shop open, she bumps into an old boyfriend, Cooper Rivers, who claims to still love her. Then Cara learns that Cooper's affection might be a ploy to save himself from a murder plea. Is it possible that Cara's second chance at love has come too late?

A 170 page book and first in series of a woman whose previous life door closes and she finds her self at odds with what direction her life should now go. Both her parents die within months, her son moves away to college, and her dog has to be euthanized - and that's the scene for most of her attitude and snarkiness throughout the book. Oh, and after her car proceeds to break down near her old hometown........and she becomes a suspect in a murder...... Not all is doom and gloom but this is not a light-hearted read. Two additional excerpts are provided with a craft project and a recipe.

This is a fun read. Ms. Campbell-Slan put together the most incredible friendships and relationships. These characters friendships gives a new meaning in ways of looking at people.  There are many different types of characters with differing experiences which allow coming together into friendship an credible and interesting journey here.  The solution to a murder and the stolen art is complex and unique. I thought I solved the crime a couple of times, nope. The story will certainly keep you turning the pages until finally the crime is solved.  However, there is still a relationship that needs to be revealed.  Hurry with that new book please so I can find out what happens in this relationship.
