The formidable five-some is comprised of the original members of multi-platinum trailblazing band Evanescence, guitarists Ben Moody and John LeCompt along with drummer Rocky Gray, joined by breakout American Idol finalist Carly Smithson on vocals. Acclaimed bassist Marty O’Brien (Disturbed and Static-X, among others) rounds out We Are The Fallen's unique sound.
For Smithson, We Are The Fallen fulfills her destiny as one of rock’s most potent new female voices. She first turned heads as one of American Idol's more engaging rock candidates, landing a controversial sixth place slot during Season 7 of the landmark television series, but not before gaining traction as one of the show's most original and uncompromising new talents. The powerful vocalist's elimination sent shockwaves through the Idol blogger nation, with her acclaimed performances on the 2008 American Idol tour cementing her current reputation as a force to be reckoned with - possessing a riveting rock presence that is second to none. Very nice album, if you like the Evanescence sound. I do. The similarity is startling. My only real issue is with the packaging - probably the worst I've ever seen - a simple too-tight slip case that doesn't really show up well in a stack or offer much in the way of protection for the CD. Judging from this, I predict Republic will be the first label to ship CD's packaged in sandwich baggies.
I am here to make a huge statement... This is NOT another Evenescence!!! We Are The Fallen stands on their own two feet and one of todays most up and coming rock groups!! I saw them live for the first time in Pittsburgh, and then again in Atlantic City and they were absolutely phenomenal both times. Carly Smithson has a voice that is all her own. with a range that surpasses most female singers out there. Ben Moody- Guitar, is just an absolute joy to watch. His talent and raw emotion is breath taking, and his stage presence is better than I have seen in a long long time. John LeCompt is equally as amazing on his guitar, and when he gets out his 8 string electric, watch out cause the dude can shred. What can you say about Marty O'Brien? He is probably one of todays most acclaimed bassists. He has such an incredible back history with who he has played for, it is mind blowing. I did not see him use a pick once live and his skills are what has inspired me to learn the bass. Rocky Gray is a powerhouse on the drums, and provides a wonder backbone for the band with his wonderful skills. I URGE everyone who loves good rock bands with strong powerful female leads to buy this album... You will NOT be disappointed, that I can PROMISE!!!
