No matter how solid something seems, if enough pressure is applied, hearts and lives will shift.
Shane Brookings, passionate surfer and accomplished athlete, was not a rock star, as much as he tried to represent himself as one throughout most of his adulthood. Mostly, Shane had always been kind of a jackass. A talented jackass, but still. So it really came as no surprise to him that the only two women he had seen a future with, chose actual rock stars to hitch themselves to.
Feeling cold and hollow, he returned to California to focus on growing his brand. Determined to now stay serious about his life choices, he never anticipated Greta O'Neil's blatant shove into his life.
Greta O'Neil, avid artist, surfer chick, and baby sister to a rock star, had a life that was anything but boring. Having a knack for pulling sad men out of their funk, she sets her talents on Shane Brookings. She has no intention of breaking her rules, which include getting too close, letting him in, and accidentally falling for the guy.
But Shane is not like her other projects. Not only is he built like a Greek god, he's hardworking, passionate, clever and heroic. (Not that he believes any of those things about himself.) The rules she has so firmly set down to protect herself, are more than shaken up with Shane's every push into her life.
Even as they both compromise to make room in their hearts for the other, outside forces put pressure on their burgeoning relationship. Shane's dream is put into jeopardy, ex-lovers surface at the worst moments, and their own faults threaten to violently tear them apart.

*4.5 Stars* I love the Double Blind Series. I really do. Each story is so beautifully and realistically crafted by Hutchinson. Strong but flawed female characters. No douchey alpha males. Although I did have my doubts about Shane. Honnestly, I did not anticipate either the need or the desire to read Shane's story. After reading Learn to Fly, who would? Shift, however, really does happen. Tectonic, like the other DBS installments, is a character driven story. Greta, little sister of Harrison and self-proclaimed fixer of men meets her match in Shane, former athlete and player turned misunderstood sad guy. The casual, unexpected and sweetly romantic progression/unfolding of their budding relationship is the primary focus of the novel, but the author gives us glimpses of future story lines as well. I love the merry band of supporting players that Hutchinson assembles in each novel.
With every book im pulled further into this band...thus family. I love the characters and stories. This book was amazing and you wont be dissapointed. Im surprised there arent a million great reviews...leave me to think ive discovered the best kept book series secret ever!
This was a great read. Five Stars!! Author Heidi R Hutchinson once again brings us a beautiful, genuine love story with a touch of drama and such amazing characters that you just absolutely can't help but fall in love with. I had already fallen in love with Shane in Book 2 because he matured and changed so much since Book 1, where I very much disliked him, but WOW…… I’m lovin him even more. Shane is heartbroken. He let the woman he fell in love with go because he knew it was the right thing to do. He tries to hide his pain and his plan is to throw himself into work. He sure wasn’t expecting sassy chic determined to ‘fix’ him to get under his skin. Greta sets her sights on Shane. She sees the sadness in him and wants to help him move on and bring back happiness into his life. This is what she does. This is her talent. She’s determined to make Shane her next ‘fixer upper’. She wasn’t expecting for him to break through the boundaries she thought were impenetrable. I love this series! Although you can read each one as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order. In Book 1, you get introduced to each character and you get a feel for them. You get the whole effect of how they are connected to each other and where the character stands throughout. We first meet Shane in Book 1, and it wasn’t a very good impression. Book 2, he totally flipped the switch and my heart thawed for him, falling more and more. In this story, he steals a huge piece of my heart. He is so sweet, caring and tender. Shane and Greta were made for each other. Greta was exactly what Shane needed in his life. She was exuberant and brought so much life back into Shane when he thought he was doomed to darkness. Their friendship develops over the course of the story and fall more and more for each other. They take a chance on love. I love how Heidi writes these love stories with pure genuine emotion without the whole ‘sex sells’ thing going on. These stories don’t need that. You fall so deeply in love and captivated by the raw emotion of pure simply love. I love her writing; it’s like a breath of fresh air and separates her on a whole different plateau from the rest. I absolutely loved this story and couldn’t have been happier of how Shane and Greta came to be. I can’t wait to read the next addition to this series.
