The Teeny Weeny Tadpole darts in and out of the lily pads where he lives, but, alas, he wishes he could jump like Mommy Frog. He watches her spring high into the air, do a flippity-flop, then land with a plop on a lily pad. How fun! But when the little tadpole tries the same stunt, all he can manage is a splish and a splash. His mom reassures him that someday he will be able to jump just like her. In the meantime, the Teeny Weeny Tadpole sets off downstream where he meets Lamb, Rabbit, and Grasshopper. His new friends can jump, too, and they promise the tadpole that soon he will be able to do likewise. Their prediction is tested the next time the tadpole goes exploring and encounters the Big Bad Fish, who tries to catch him for dinner. As the fish swims after him in mad pursuit, the Teeny Weeny Tadpolewho has grown up and turned into a frogsuddenly leaps high into the air and escapes! This coming-of-age story is illustrated with friendly creatures and bright, happy colors that suggest a very happy Teeny Weeny Tadpole world. Some young readers may notice the little tadpole "companion" that follows our hero throughout the pages of his adventure.
