Templar Chronicles I: New Players by Ray Slaughter

Mankind is once again facing its end!
Throughout the history of Man, there are those who have risen to protect those who cannot protect themselves. These warriors have gone by many names, and have been romanticized as knights, guardians, and Templar, just to name a few.
In 2076, mankind is on the brink of extinction. Stephan, the lone survivor of the Paladin battalion must travel back in time to train humanity to defend against the bloodthirsty Ntasyz, because he is the only one who has faced them more than once. But before they can depart, the Ntasyz attack, and Stephan must stay and hold off the Ntasyz just long enough for the crew of the Progressive to escape.
But despite Stephan's sacrifice, the mission goes awry, and instead of traveling into the past, the Progressive slingshots at least a thousand years into the future!
But all is not lost, a mysterious appears, known only as Paladin the Blue, but bearing a striking resemblance to Stephan, but with none of his memories. While Paladin has no idea of who he is, he is thrust into the new war that humanity has found itself engaged in. And now, the fate of humanity depends on Paladin finding out who he is, and what he can do.

If you have a child who loves to read--they will enjoy this book. If they don't enjoy reading this just might be the book that will turn the tides! I actually enjoyed reading this book myself but since I have no children I will probably not be reading any more of them. Based in the future, but starts in the past as humans are headed straight for extinction! Our time travelers are wisked to the wrong time-leaving behind Stephen who fights off the monsters so the others can leave. BUT--Stephen somehow makes it through and is one of the heroes of this book. it is filled with lots of action as the good guys try to outdo the bad guys. And these are really bad guys who use genetic modification to make monsters-- This is the first book in a continuing saga which I am sure your tween, teen or even younger child will thoroughly enjoy and will want to read book 2 thru---- As always I think a parent should always read a book before handing it to their child-honestly I find absolutely nothing wrong with this book--but only you know your child.

When will Mankind learn to be prepared for the unexpected? Hindsight can be a wonderful thing, and it may be what will forge a new destiny for us all. In the distant future we are capable of space travel, populating other planets and encountering a vicious race determined to bring the total and complete extinction of the species throughout the galaxies. What if there was one moment in time when Mankind’s path could take a massive turn and receive a gift so incredible that even their greatest foes would back away? The balance of our existence is in the hands of one group of brave explorers, determined to go back in time to change history as well as the future. One brave soldier will stand alone to allow the mission to succeed when the team is ambushed by the brutal and deadly warmongers, the Ntasyz. Stephan, The Blue Templar fights with all he has, but is the trip back in time doomed for failure anyway? Fast forward to another time, humans are still on the verge of extinction; enter Paladin the Blue, a warrior like no other, unsure of his past, but determined to have a future as he joins the humans in their quest for life. Templar Chronicles I: New Players by Ray Slaughter will rocket you into another time, another place and thrust you into the battle for humanity, one action-packed page at a time. Buckle up, and get ready for a fantasy trip that defies the speed of light and sound! Heroes will rise, they will fall, and sometimes the villains will prevail, but the battle is not over until the last book is written. Rocket through each scene as you stand shoulder to shoulder with determined fighters with a cause and forget getting a breather, this is non-stop adventure at its finest, and remember, victory is in the details, so expect to skim through this read! Expect to be taken out of the world of reality and returned a little tired, a little changed and ready for more! Trust me, we are not in Kansas, any more, Toto.
