Overview

Temporary Groom by J. S. Scott

A brand new, standalone spin-off from The Billionaire's Obsession series, and the first novella in the Left At The Altar series!!! You met Lia and Zeke in Billionaire Unloved, Jett and Ruby's book. Now you can find out what happened to them. Did Lia really marry the wrong guy?

Lia:

I thought I had my life all worked out. My wedding had been meticulously planned. All I had to do was walk down the aisle and get married to the man I'd been engaged to for over a year.

Pretty easy and uncomplicated, right?

Unfortunately, all of my well laid plans go up in smoke when my fiance leaves me at the church alone because he found a woman who was better suited for his snobby world of wealth and privilege.

Problem is, I really have to get married. All of my hopes and dreams are dependent on me tying the knot by my twenty-eighth birthday, and the date is closing in fast.

As usual, my best friend Zeke Conner is there to pick up the pieces when I get jilted by a jerk. He helps me work through the demoralizing event so I can put it behind me and move on. But when he offers to marry me himself, I'm stunned. But it's a bargain I can't really refuse.

As my relationship changes with my best friend, I find myself caught in a web of sensual desire and unending passion that's as terrifying as it is satisfying. Probably because it seems all too real.

But our arrangement was supposed to be temporary. A deal between friends so that we'd both benefit. What will happen when it all ends?

Zeke and Lia have been best friends forever. Both have deeper than 'friends' feelings for each other and both are leery of crossing that line to change the dynamics of their friendship. When Lia is left at the alter Zeke takes care of her. The only problem is, is that Lia has to marry to get her inheritance and time is running out. Zeke comes up with the plan that they marry. The only thing is he doesn't plan on it being temporary. Lia goes into the marriage thinking it only temporary and feels quilty that Zeke is giving up so much to help her. What I loved the best about Zeke is that he didn't push at all. He was supportive of Lia in every way possible and allowed her to find herself again. She lost herself by being an image of who her ex wanted her to be. I think the best friends to lovers is the best type of relationship to have. It's deeper, more meaningful. Who knew that being left at the alter was the very best thing that could happen... An amazing, wonderful read!

J.S. Scott is easily one of my favorite authors. I love how her stories are all intertwined. They introduce us to characters and allow us to get to know them and care about what happens to them so that when the next story comes out, I drop what I'm reading and immediately drive in. This book, Temporary Groom, is, for me, a good read. However, I found it not exactly fitting the top notch standard that I always find in a J.S. Scott book. I found some of the wording, the arrangement of the wording to be a little different than usual. I found it very unpredictable. Not that most romance books aren't predictable, they are, but it just felt very neat and tidy, too quick. Not a bad read at all, but not what I'm used to. That being said, I really can't tell you how much I loved Lia and Zeke's relationship. It was natural. It was easy. It was selfless. I loved how Zeke was always there, two steps ahead of Lia, thinking about her. Making her smile and taking care of her without making her seem weak or dependent. I loved how he KNOWS her. He knew what she was thinking and why, and if he didn't, he wasn't afraid to ask her and talk about it. Lia's story is a great cautionary tale that women of all ages should be aware of. Keeping your true self in a relationship and not being with someone who belittles you and makes you feel worthless, is an absolute MUST. Relationships...no, GOOD relationships aren't one sided or stifling. They can't be. I also loved seeing Jett and Ruby. Just a fun little nugget that J.S. Scott is so very good at delivering to keep the timeline on her couples moving forward. So, though I absolutely wish there was a lot more for this couple, I would absolutely recommend this book to readers, but I'd totally have them stay with Simon and follow the book list in order! I expect wonderful characterization and fantastic stories to continue from one ofmy favorite authors. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Sometimes getting left at the altar isn’t so bad! Why did no one kick me in the butt to read a J.S. Scott book earlier?! I loved this story and dropped everything in life to read this. It was addictive and so much fun! I’m a sucker for friends-to-lovers romance stories and this was no exception. However, wish it was longer. I want more of these characters. Zeke and Lia have been best friends for a long time. When Lia gets left at the altar, Zeke is right there to help pick up the pieces. Watching them navigate their situation with strong chemistry was so much fun. I loved the setting of this story The description made it feel as if I was right there with them and never took away from the story. I highly recommend this for a quick, cute, and enjoyable beach read! Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.

A 4.5 stars review I loved this book! Best friend to lovers. Been in love with each other since as far as they could remember, yet they afraid to lose the friendship. Until they don’t. I loved that the heroine was not a pathetic jilted bride. Lia was a smart woman who finally came to smart decision. The groom just beat her to the bush. Her best friend, Zeke, was really a nice guy and so sweet. Not very alpha, but I actually like him more. I love that the story evolved around how they finally accepted their feelings toward each other and be better because of it. No other over-the-top drama, which I love it so much. The main story itself had been great. My only objection was the repetitive “sexy baritone” phrase. It became one too often that took away some enjoyment from the story. Minor actually. I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher through Booksprout, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

Lia and Zeke have been best friends forever. "Best friends." Lia is about to marry Stuart and in Zeke's opinion the worst mistake ever. Zeke is there to support her when he makes a decision and is going to act on it but only to find out that Stuart has sent his brother to deliver news to Lia no bride wants to hear. After her initial shock wears off she is now worried since her Grandmothers will states she must be married in order to inherit her estate by her birthday . She is not devastated with the loss of Stuart as she was thinking along the same lines. In walks Zeke to save the day. He says he will marry her so she can get her estate and the plans can continue. She has mixed feelings as she truly feels for Zeke and unsure if this is a good idea. Will best friends be able to help each other or will true feelings be revealed? Another great story. J. S. Scott has not disappointed. Truly a great story. (less)

I was looking forward to reading about LIa and Zeke after reading Billionaire Unloved and this definitely did not disappoint. Zeke was absolutely perfect! So many times I am trying to find any redeeming qualities in the stories hero, but that was definitely not the case with Zeke. Ms. Scott never disappoints me with her ability to tell a story. Thank y

Lia on her 21st birthday told Zeke her best friend she loved him. Sadly is was when she was drunk. Zeke would have jumped at this chance but she wanted her sober when he took their friendship to the next level. The next day Lia was so embarrassed she never mentioned it again having been rejected by Zeke. Now Lia is getting married and Zeke is finally ready to get his girl if he isn’t too late. Seeking Lia out he finds her crying after Stuart broke things off. Now is Zeke’s chance to finally get his girl. Lia is so insecure can she finally believe Zeke finds her desirable and truly wants to not only marry her but to have a life with her. These two were destined to be together.

Temporary Groom is the first book in J.S. Scott’s new series Left at the Altar. I enjoy reading friends to lovers’ themed books and this did not disappoint. This was a short novella that was over way too quickly. I enjoyed Zeke and Lia but I wish I learned a little more about the characters themselves. All in all a quick read.

5 stars Review by Elizabeth Late Night Reviewer Up All Night with Books Blog Wowzers! Show of hands, who loves best friends to romance? Steamy sexy times? Unconditional love? If you answered yes to any or all, read this book immediately!! Temporary Groom by USA Today Bestselling Author, J.S. Scott, is a hit! This is a short read at only ninety eight pages! You can knock it out in an hour! Lia and Zeke have been best friends for years. When it comes time for Lia to marry her fiancée, Zeke admits to himself he is in love with her. After finding Lia in tears he finds out her fiancée has left her at the altar for another woman! Zeke kindly steps up and marries Lia so she can get her inheritance from her grandmother, but will they have a Happy Ever After? The chemistry is astronomical! You can really tell Zeke is totally devoted to Lia and vice versa. The sex??? Wowzers!! I absolutely love everything about this book! Lia did admit her feelings for Zeke years ago but she thought he did not return her feelings. They play this cat and mouse game a tiny bit once they are married but Zeke just plows through until he gets the girl. This is my kind of book! I love the idea of a best friend stepping in to marry the other for any reason. Especially if they have secret feelings for each other. It just makes it that much better and the sexual tension you can cut with a knife. To me it builds their chemistry and when they actually admit their feelings, BOOM! Hot steamy sex! Read this book. You will not be disappointed. I only wish it were longer.

*4.5 stars* An “all the feels” friends to lovers romance… I’ve found my new book boyfriend! Zeke is Lia’s best friend and he is everything you could want in a friend. Lia is perfect in Zeke’s eyes and wouldn’t change a thing about her. He’s known her for years, has seen her at her best and her worst, and still wouldn’t change anything about who she is. Acceptance like that is rare so when this comes from a hunky millionaire, who just happens to be the nicest guy EVER – yeah, I would be scooping him right up. Lia is not sure though – the last thing she wants to do is take advantage of a friendship she cherishes – or lose that friendship in the process. Instead, what happens is a progression from besties to lovers and life partners that feels effortless. And maybe it should be when it is just RIGHT! “…I felt like I was finally exactly where I belonged.” A quick read with an emotional hit that left me smiling… *I happily reviewed this book

Zeke and Lia have been friends a long time, and without the other knowing both have harbored more than "friend-like" feelings for one another, but acting on those feelings has never really been an option... until now. When Lia's fiance leaves her at the alter Zeke is the one who swoops in and saves her from complete humiliation, but days later she realizes she still needs a husband in order to claim her inheritance and make her dream a reality. If only she had a man in her life to help make that dream a reality... Temporary Groom is a sweet and sultry little novella that is sure to have romance readers swooning from start to finish, the moment Zeke wanders onto the page you will feel your heart slipping away, and your knees weaken! This was such a pleasurable read, the story line was engaging and held my interest throughout, the characters were well crafted and easy to identify with... simply said there is no way you can walk away from this one without getting a serious case of the feels! If you are looking for a sexy and heartfelt tale to curl up with tonight, I highly suggest you make it this one, it will make for a delightful bedtime story!! I requested an advanced copy of this title and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I love Zeke and Lia love story.. they were a perfect couple. Always there for each other during good time and bad times. Love that Lia's grandmother played a part in their story. This would make a great Hallmark movie........:-) I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really loved this book. It's a nice quick read that is a wonderful friends to lovers story. Lia and Zeke have been best friends for a long time and while they both have feeling for the other, neither has wanted to act on them fearing it will ruin their close friendship. When Lia finds herself a bride literally left at the altar, Zeke is the one who comes through for her. Then when she realizes her inheritance is in jeopardy unless she gets married, who else would she call for help other than Zeke. Can Zeke be happy just being her temporary groom? This is a wonderfully written book with amazing characters making it a must read! I highly recommend it.

Temporary Groom is a short and sweet novella, featuring Lia Harper and Zeke Conner, best friends for a lot of years. Zeke has always been Lia's protector, her friend through thick and thin, her hero. Lia has always had Zeke's back, been there for him anytime he needed her and would walk through fire to see him happy. These two can finish each other's thoughts, predict what they will do under certain circumstances and love each other through anything. When something happens that threatens to tear their friendship apart, Lia and Zeke realize that somewhere along the way their feelings have changed, has blossomed into something more, but is it possible to move forward and not lose the friendship that they value so much? Although this is a novella, the author gives you enough background information that you do not feel cheated out of details, but at the same time left me wanting more. I certainly hope that Lia and Zeke will make appearances in some of her other books so that we will know what is going on with them now. Five "just let it happen" stars for this one!!

Zeke and Lia have been best friends since they were kids but when a drunken Lia tells him that she loves him Zeke thinks she is only saying it because she is drunk. Lia is humiliated thinking Zeke has rejected her love. When Lia is left at the altar Zeke comes to her rescue. Will this temporary marriage become a permanent one? J.S. has did it again with this friends to lovers story. Waiting for the rest of the books in this series.

Okay, you got me, I just love all of J.S.Scotts books. Temporary Groom Left At The Altar Zeke & Lia's Story is short, but packed full of passion and heat. Two friends learn that love and friendship can go hand in hand. The story evolves around Lia being left at the altar by Stuart, but she was also having doubts. Love and friendship collide amidst a comedy of errors. Zeke and Lia have a history. Will they let that shared history ruin their chance at a future as so much more? Temporary Groom takes a look into the eyes of love and walked away with this romantic's heart. From top to bottom Scott can do no less than perfect.
