Tempted by a Rogue Prince (Eternal Mates Paranormal Romance Series Book 3)
An elf prince on the verge of losing himself to the darkness, Vail is maddened by the forty-two centuries he was under the control of a witch and forced to war with his brother. Now, he roams Hell seeking an escape from his terrible past and the heads of all who bear magic. When demons of the Fifth Realm capture him, he sees a chance to end his existence, but when he wakes in a cell to a beautiful female, he finds not death but his only shot at salvation--his true fated mate.

Captured by the enemy of the Third Realm when the war ended, Rosalind has spent months in the cells of the Fifth Realm with her magic bound, forced to heal the new king's demon warriors, and haunted by the lives she has taken. When she's brought to heal an unconscious man, she discovers her only hope of escape has come in the form of her worst nightmare and the first part of a prediction that might spell her doom--a devastatingly handsome and dangerous dark elf prince.

Unwilling to fall under the control of anyone ever again, Vail must escape before the Fifth King can use him as a pawn in a deadly game of revenge, but he cannot leave without Rosalind, the woman who looks at him with dark desire in her stunning eyes and awakens a fierce hunger in his heart. A witch who drives him mad with need even as the darkness within whispers she will enslave him too.

Can Rosalind escape her fate as they embark on a journey fraught with danger and resist the temptation of her rogue elf prince? And can Vail overcome the memories that madden him in order to seize his chance for salvation and the heart of his fated female forever?

Reading this was a complete waste of time. If a guy is that insane (as mentioned about a million times in the book) then walk away ladies. There are no redeeming qualities in a man who hits or is abusive. Ever. Way too much angst and not nearly enough love in this romance.

This book was better than the last but, I was still very tempted to give up on it right in the middle because of the long drawn out inner angst going on in the male leads character. A constant barage of flip flopping over his past situation and present one. Really boring after awhile and the repetiton was starting to annoy me. I mean, hey I get it already! That's why I gave it two stars. I don't think I'll read more from this author. This is a pattern in her writing. The story lines are clever but I just don't have the patience. ..........................................................................................................................

Vail is the brother of Prince Loren and has endured hell at the hands of a dark witch . He has now been captured as has Rosalind the white witch during the battle between The Demon King Throne of the 3rd realm who is fated to Sable and the Fifth Realm king who is now dead. Or is he? Rosalind has a fear of elves but not just any elves Elf Princes and now she is stuck trying to save one?  Vail has all kinds of dark issues from the horrid witch who kept him slaved for so many centuries  but he knows deep inside that Rosalind is his but can he get passed the dark and not harm her? Rosalind was told by her grandmother she would die at the hands of an Elf Prince so she knows what lies ahead although she can not bring herself to tell Vail.  They are off together heading to the Third Realm but things go all kinds of wrong for these two.  Can they get through it? Wow these stories just keep getting better with each one. I totally enjoyed this book and can not wait to read what lies ahead.

This was my favorite so far. The hero's struggle is heartbreaking. The heroine's strength and courage is admirable. She isn't a saint, to perfect and it makes her real.

I am giving this review for author Felicity Heaton. This is book 3 of the Eternal Mates book series by the author. Rosalind was captured by the Fifth King of the demons and forced to heal his warriors but she could not heal herself and if she did not do what she was told to do she was made to suffer. Vail had been tortured for so long by a witch that he hated all witched and made a vow that he would kill any witch he came in contact with but when the witch is his fated mate he is torn. I love how the author had such emotional turmoil for both of the lead characters in this book that I felt sorry for both of them. The story line flow in this book was great through out the entire read. This paranormal romance does has some sexual content in it so it is for mature paranormal romance readers. It is best to read this series in order because where 1 stops the next book starts.

Considerably Darker & More Emotional Actual Rating 4.5 stars. I received this book for free from Author in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This book may be unsuitable for people under 17 years of age due to its use of sexual content, drug and alcohol use, and/or violence. My Initial Reaction...  Tempted by a Rogue Prince was considerably darker and more emotional than the other books in the series, yet somehow equally hot and sexy. I knew Vail's story was going to be great and Felicity did not disappoint. Note: There are some minor series spoilers in this review. The Characters...  I've been eagerly waiting for Vail's story (and Bleu's... still waiting on that one) since I started reading this series, because Vail was instantly such a compelling character. I mean, he was tormented and held captive by a spell for FOUR THOUSAND PLUS YEARS, forced to attack the people he loves and do horrible things. And yet, somehow, we already know from the other books that he's not ENTIRELY insane. Notice I stress entirely, because he is crazy. But he does still have a moral compass and a sliver of good that cares and loves. And Felicity captured his slips in and out of sanity so well - I think what I loved most was that they made sense. It wasn't crazy for the sake of crazy, his episodes had triggers and, even when misunderstood from the outside perspective (Rosalind 's), they were clear to me as a reader who had the chance to know what's going on in his mind. Rosalind was the perfect balance to Vail's insanity, because Rosalind is as calm and collected as I think anyone could be in her situation. I mean, she's been held captive and whipped and tortured for months and she's still so together. Add to that this prophecy she's been living with most of her life that she would meet an elf prince and die shortly thereafter - sorry, but I know I'd be a mess! Oh and did I mention that she just recently killed several people (well witches, demons, etc) for the first time in her life just before getting captured? So I really admired her strength and ability to deal with not just her own situation but the mess that is Vail. And she did so with compassion and understanding. And yet, she has attitude and she can be a total bad ass too. Yep, loving this severely damaged pair ;) We met a new character in Tempted by a Rogue Prince - an incubi. We didn't get to know him that well because unlike the other books in the series, this book really intensely focused on just these two characters. However, what we did learn excited and intrigued me and I'm betting that's another book in the series I'll love reading. The Story...  So Tempted by A Rogue Prince takes place a few months after the events of Claimed by a Demon King, where Rosalind was captured by the Demons of the 5th Realm and Vail did his disappearing act again. Because we're with Vail and Rosalind for 95% of this book - two characters entirely out of touch with the rest of the characters I've grown to love - we don't know what's happened on that front for the past several months and I'm dying to know all those details. But we do know that for Vail and Rosalind the last three months have sucked. She's been imprisoned and tortured. Vail's been wandering, hardly alive and all alone - until he wonders into the fifth realm and is also held captive. So now they're both captive and thrown together when Rosalind is commanded to heal him or suffer the consequences. This is difficult because Vail hates all witches (understandable considering the four thousand years being cruelly used and abused by one) and cannot tolerate their touch without going off the deep end. This leads to some intense interactions between Vail and Rosalind - who are mates. Oh and did I mention that the witch that tortured Vail trapped him by making him believe she was his mate? Talk about an effing confusing situation for the poor guy. Now, I'm not one for insta-love, but not one book in this series has had that feel to it at all. These characters have to work for their bonds as soul mates and these two have the hardest struggle of all. It gets intense - ranging from torture to sexual tension. You have them needing to get out of this scary as hell situation, Rosalind's prophecy, Vail's insanity and their mate bonds coming together for a seriously fantastic read. Concluding Sentiments...  I'm crazy about this series and Tempted by a Rogue Prince was another fantastic read. I think it would work fine as a stand alone, though I can't imagine wanting to skip the other books! I can't wait to see what Felicity will do next.

~Reviewed by ANGELA & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog I have been excited for Vail’s book since this series had started. When I inquired about him, I was promised, no, I was warned that Vail is a tortured hero and that it will be a dark story. Frankly, I was doubtful that I’d like him since he had brought on so much destruction. I will admit that I was wrong and I admit that I loved Vail and his story more than I expected. I suppose, I shouldn’t have been doubtful because Ms. Heaton has yet to disappoint me. Sure enough, Vail’s story is very dark. Ms. Heaton did him justice by telling her readers what he has gone through and gave him a chance at a happy-ever-after. By the end of this book, I understood his past and why he is so f*cked in the head. Who wouldn’t be? Vail’s past had been nothing but grief. He’s was captured, slaved, beaten, and raped by a powerful witch. Now that she is dead, Vail is captured again by his brother’s enemy. But rest assured, being captured this time around is the best thing that ever happened to him. Well, meeting Rosalind, his Eternal Mate is the best thing that will ever happen to him. But it is during this captivity that he meets her for the first time. It was in the prophecy that Rosalind will die by the hands of the Mad Elf Prince. She too was captured by the King of Demons in the Fifth Realm. Being a witch and healer, she was forced to heal others but also treated in the same manner as Vail. Yes, she was beaten and forced to do the King’s bidding; that includes healing the man who is said to kill her.  But Rosalind is kind and she will always do the right thing. My heart broke for Vail and Rosalind. They went through hell. Nothing in their lives ever came easy and they would have to fight hard to get finally what they want. I have to say that there were scenes that were hard from me to read. I cringed at the thought of their beatings, my stomach lurched at the thought of what Vail had to do for Kordula and the thought of what he lost was truly heart-breaking. Rosalind was a good pair for him. She understood his mental anguish and scars and knew exactly how to take care of him.  Heaton did an amazing job with their story. There’s nothing like a good love story where both hero and heroine finally gets a well-deserved ending. *ARC provided by author

TEMPTED BY A ROGUE PRINCE is the third instalment in Felicity Heaton’s Eternal Mates paranormal romance series. This is demonic elf prince Vail and light witch Rosalind’s storyline.  Vail had been held captive and controlled by a dark witch for over four thousand years and the atrocities he has committed have left a black mark so dark upon his soul that he prayed for death. Imprisoned by the new king of the Fifth Realm, Vail fights against the torture and pain only to be healed by a woman he feels the need to both soothe and destroy. With each encounter Rosalind and Vail’s connection to one another grows stronger but it is Vail’s emotional turmoil about the past that both frightens and attracts Rosalind like a moth to a flame.  TEMPTED BY A ROGUE PRINCE follows the imprisonment, torture and eventual escape of three people whose lives have crossed paths once before. Rosalind is Vail’s fated mate but she is also a reminder of the woman who destroyed Vail’s humanity and his ability to distinguish between right and wrong. It is a story that is graphically violent and emotionally heartbreaking. Vail has been betrayed time and again, and the memories of the people whose lives he has destroyed will be carried with him for all times. A good portion of the storyline is told through the internal dialogue of each of our leading characters. Vail is torn between wanting to kill Rosalind and protecting her from harm while Rosalind hopes to heal the mind of a man whose belief in himself has been damaged beyond repair. The nature of these thoughts was slightly repetitive reminding the reader about the hell that our characters had endured. Felicity Heaton’s storylines are imaginative, passionate, heartbreaking and intense. TEMPTED BY A ROGUE PRINCE is a little darker with its graphic imagery of one man’s suffering and slide into hell. Vail and Rosalind’s escape will force them to depend on one another for survival but also force them to take a deeper look within their heart and soul.

This is the third book in the Eternal Mates Series. I loved it! Vail is a very complex character. He is the younger brother of Loren. I was unsure whether I liked him when I first met him in Kissed by a Dark Prince, which was the first book in the series. However, after reading this story and getting to know him better, I have since changed my mind about him. Vail's battle with his darkness actually made me admire him. Rosalind is a wonderful character. I loved her bravery on the battlefield during the war between the Demon King (Thorne) of the Third Realm and the Demon King of the Fifth Realm in Claimed by a Demon King. Captured and forced to heal demons of the Fifth Realm, she now finds herself having to heal a stranger and fighting her attraction for him. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this book, as I have fallen in love with this series. Vail's story is not an easy one to read, as his past has been a tortured nightmare. The abuse that he endured for all those years would have broken any man. However, Vail has fought his abuser's hold and, even though severely damaged, has managed to hold on to his sanity with clawed finger tips. Rosalind is light to his dark. She is a born healer, but even she cannot heal the deep wounds left by Kordula, the witch that had abused Vail. This story is told from both Vail and Rosalind's points of view, which gave me a better understanding of their lives. I liked how Vail gave Rosalind a nickname without him knowing her name at first, and I found this to be very touching. There was also another character that was introduced; an incubus called Fenix. I liked this laconic incubus, and I hope to read his story soon.  This story has a lot of violence in the form of torture and fighting, but there are also moments of tenderness and sweetness between the two main characters, which balances the tale. The characters are well developed and lifelike, and I could imagine the scenes in my minds eye with ease. There are several twists and turns in this tale, which kept me hooked from beginning to end. I found myself on an emotional roller coaster throughout the book; in several places I burst into tears. The end of the story left me smiling though, and I am now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.  Felicity Heaton has written another fast paced, sexy paranormal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed! I love her writing style, which flows effortlessly from scene to scene. She is number one on my favourite authors list! I do not recommend this book to younger readers due to the extremely HOT and explicit sexual scenes. However, I highly recommend this book (and series) if you love sexy paranormal romances full of vampires, elves, werewolves, succubi, incubi, angels, dragons and demons. - Lynn Worton

**Note: There are no spoilers for this book, but are slight spoilers for previous books in the series. This is book three in the Eternal Mates series. Vail is our severally tortured hero of this story.  We met him in book one where he had spent thousands of years under the control of an evil witch and was forced to be at war with his brother and the rest of the elves.  This witch had tortured him and left him without much of his sanity.  Needless to say, he doesn't have much use for witches now that he has finally escaped her clutches. Our heroine was introduced in book two.  Rosalind is a witch and a bit of a hermit.  She especially avoids elves.  It was foretold that she would die at the hands of an elf, so she has refused to spend any time around any elves to make sure she doesn't meet up with the specific elf that is supposed to kill her.  Fate has something different in mind for both our hero and heroine. When they are both captured and held together in a prison and Rosalind is forced to heal Vail, she has no choice but to be around the elf as he is forced to be around the witch.  Their time in the prison, which would be enough on its own, is made much more difficult as they both deal with their hatred of the other species. Rosalind and Vail are fated mates, so they feel a connection from the start.  However, Vail doesn't take to this very well.  The evil witch trapped him by convincing him that she was his fated mate.  So when Rosalind shows up as his actual mate, Vail instantly feels it is another trick.  As they work together to escape the prison, along with the help of an incubi, we see their relationship bloom and the mistrust between them dissipate.  This was the darkest story in series so far.  Since I like dark stories and tortured heroes or heroines, this was a great story for me.  I love the look into Vail's head.  Heaton does a great job portraying his forays into and out of his bouts of madness.  The worldbuilding is just as good as the previous books, which is wonderful.  She really does a great job with the descriptions to make you feel like you are actually their. The cast of characters in this book is really small.  For the most part, the story is just Vail and Rosalind, along with the incubi that was also imprisoned with them.  I'm a big fan of secondary characters. They can make or break a story for me.  However, the lack of secondary characters in this book didn't make the story suffer at all.  Vail is such a complex character, he  and Rosalind were able to hold your attention without the extra characters in the story. **Book was provided to me by the author. This review is my opinion and was not requested or provoked in anyway by the author.

Rating: 4.5/5 Intense, heart-warming and heart-breaking all in one. This book is so difficult to review while avoiding spoilers. Therefore, I'll say that you should definitely start at the beginning with the first book. This book can be read as a standalone, but then you'll miss the build-up to the events of this one, and that would be a shame. Am I horrible for saying that I loved seeing Vail so broken? I knew his healing wouldn't come quickly or easily, but I really felt for him throughout this one. The story started out with his capture by the King of the Fifth Realm. And fate threw him together with the one person who was both a curse and his salvation, the witch Rosalind. The majority of this story dealt with Vail's past and current trauma, courtesy of a dark witch. His deep hatred and lust for killing all witches extended to Rosalind, even after an accidental bond. The back and forth between lucidity and madness made him such an interesting character, and it made me root even harder for his redemption. In terms of romance, he seemed like a boy trapped in a man's body. He had a lot to learn, but his struggle to trust her and relinquish some control made him so endearing. In the second book, Rosalind seemed so timid and skittish, so I was pleasantly surprised with her toughness here. She was a nice blend of nurturing and fighting spirit. I thought she handled Vail's "mood swings" rather well. She was caring and compassionate when it was called for, but she wasn't a doormat just because of the underlying attraction. She stood up to him and forced him to communicate when it really mattered. I loved her vulnerability stemming from her inability to cope with the events that took place in the second book. Despite having her own issues, she put them aside for Vail. As usual, the author did a fantastic job with details - world building, descriptions, sights, smells, you name it. Slipping back into familiar territory always comes easily, no matter how much time has passed between books. The pacing wasn't too fast or too slow. I thought it was perfect, and they spent enough time together - from being captured and tortured to running for their lives - that I believed the gradual development of romance between them. And it wasn't just a by-product of their bond. Those two were put through the wringer in terms of dealing with their demons. The author also doesn't gloss over fight scenes that begin and end on one page. I love the descriptions of battle scenes, Felicity Heaton style. And I'm ever so grateful to her for feeding my black armor fetish. Loren or Vail in full gear is a thing of hotness! **Complimentary eARC from the author for the purpose of an honest review.**
