Tempted by Robyn Carr

Widowed at thirty-three with two small kids, Beverly Simpson wants someone to blame. Angry, hurt, and full of regret for what she's lost, she rails against a once trusted God and hides her loneliness behind a sassy exterior.

Joe Clark, intrigued by Bev's irreverent approach to life, stubbornly pursues her. However, the pair have two very different outlooks on life. Joe is a dedicated preacher, while Bev insists she no longer even believes in God. Despite being polar opposites, they can't hide their attraction to each other, but reconciling their beliefs may be harder than they imagined. Will faith and love be enough to mend a damaged heart?

Originally published in 1987, TEMPTED is an inspiring story of betrayal and trust that will refresh listeners.

"Terrific! I love Robyn Carr's work. She makes you cry, she makes you laugh, she makes you care, and TEMPTED is one of her very best." --Danielle Steel

A happy feel good little novel. A young Widow is courted but unsure of her future. I loved it.

This is clearly some very early work from Robyn Carr. The writing is not up to par with her more current works. I was very disappointed.

I LOVE Robyn Carr's books, esp. the Virgin River and Thunder Point series. Even though this is a re-issue of a book she wrote back in 1987, I expected it to be better, and I was very disappointed. It was ok, and I could see how she was trying to show the main character's struggle with her faith, but overall the book seemed kind of dis-jointed. Dialog didn't flow smoothly, and she jumped from one character to another at odd moments.

This book was written in 1987, not updated. Parts made me cringe. The story of Beverly's faith journey is the only reason I finished the book.

Great read! Loved the storyline, the banter, the pastor who loved her for who she is and the honest questions about trusting God. I'm a big Carr fan--BIG Virgin River series fan. I really liked this one, too!

I really liked this book by Robyn Carr... Beverley, a widow at 35 with two little boys, is sick of being set up with men by well meaning friends and family... They all seem to be creeps, perverts or married... Then she meets Joe who turns out to be a minister 2-3 years younger... She does everything to chase him away but that doesn't work... then she tries to seduce him and that doesn't work so well either... Her two boys who barely remember their dad (a really great die who died in an accident) are totally taken in by Joe... This story is both funny and sad because Beverly has serious trust issues... However, Joe has a lot of patience and because of it you will both laugh and cry as the story unfolds... The other characters in the Book (friends and family members) do nothing but add to the story and this is one book you will really enjoy... It doesn't matter if you are a "believer" or not because Joe doesn't even try to convince Beverly that there is a God... Really recommend this one...
